Credit where credit is due. Bergevin is great with trades. He got balls, goes for what he wants and considering how much he wheels and deals, its impressive that the ratio between trades/signings that work and those that dont works in his favor. The league would be better off with more GMs like him. Stevie is pretty ballsy too but not unhinged like Marc

My point is that people shouldn't get upset if Yzerman picks someone not even discussed in the top 10 leading up to the draft. Nobody knows how this is going to shake out. It's a weird year and the players that gets the most talk are the ones who played the most games that scout could actually watch.

I wouldn't rule it out. Whats seperates Larkin is his "motor". Rasmussens talent level is certainly up there(with Larkin). Ras development path took a detour because of how he was thrown into the NHL too early. In hindsight he should have stayed one more year being a full time center in the WHL before making the jump to GRG/DRW.

I’m not sure there is such a thing as ”off the board” in this draft. If a guy have been projected - by journalists and people not good enough at scouting to get an actual scouting job with an NHL franchise - to go in the top 20 he very much is on the board, I think.

I think the only thing we can be a 100% sure of is that Buffalo is taking Power. Not only because hes thar much better than everyone else but because the Sabres lack the balls and the vision to look beyond the consensus number one pick. I love the fact that nobody in the rest of the hockey world has any idea whatsoever of what Yzerman is gonna do.
