If you sort the standings by P% both Ottawa and Detroit lies at .310, Vancouver is at .391. Vancouver also have 3 more wins than Detroit in only 2 more games played. The next three teams counting from the bottom is Anaheim(.400), Buffalo(.438) and NYR(.441). All have one more win in fewer games played. I don't see us crawling out of the bottom-two any time soon. The Wings is the worst team in the league, sad but true. -

Evgeny Svechnikov might get another opportunity with Red Wings I don't get why guys like Svechnikov and Smith has to make a huge impact to stick around and get minutes and veterans like Nielsen, Helm and Filppula don't. We are in a full blown rebuild, god damnit.

You can't blame them for trading for him but the contract they gave him is awful.

Saying publicly that he needs to become a "elite" offensive defenseman to play in the NHL is dumb in my opinion. I don't think thats the right kind of pressure.

All of the above is of course entirely possible. I guess I just read the rumor as the Red Wings were interested in him as a hockey player.

You think the plan was to get assets for taking him off Rangers hands and then sitting him for the rest of the year to then just buy him out?

What I don't get is if Tony is a garbage teammate and Yzerman traded him away before because of that, why was Yzerman interested in acquiring him again? (As reported by Bob McKenzie who isn't very often wrong.)
