D looks good but I’m gonna throw in my preferred forwards line-up where a certain player is not included. Bertuzzi - Larkin - Mantha Fabbri - Namestnikov - Zadina Svechnikov - Filppula - Ryan Timashov - Glendening - Gagner

I can’t see things turning this complicated and with us trading Bernier. If Detroit is in involved in a MAF trade it’s strictly as the middleman taking on cap hit(I believe).

SHL regular season end march 11. I don't think we will know the date of the TDL before we know when the season actually starts.

I think that tweet is BS. A top prospect OR a 1st is what I'm guessing Yzermans ask is. This is in regards to the source of the tweet we are talking about so it seems it has some credibility after all.

Buffalo can't afford to take on Fleury's whole caphit. They got 13,6 million left with Reinhart and Olofsson still to sign plus two depth forwards. Buffalo are probably asking Vegas to retain. CHARACTER>diversity
-
But does Duclair have CHARACTER? Also, Glendog ain't going nowhere!
-
Berggren now nr 6 in point totals with 9 points(2 goals) in 6 games. He is the only player under 25 years of age in the top 25. Keep it up, kid!

Hall BUF done deal. 1x8

Buffalos GM Jack Eichel wants a playmate. Is everybody out there doing threeways but me? FML

I thought he was headed for Winnipeg...

They are a unicorn in my world. But here’s hoping this is a tricky enough offseason for GMs that something like this could happen. Carolina or Chicago could be options.
-
A deal to flip him would have to be in place already. I doubt Fleury would allow a trade here otherwise. We would just act as the middleman taking on cap hit.
-
Attach Cody Glass to MAF and they can have any center prospect we have back. Then we flip Fleury 50% retained for a second.

Me too. Nothing mindblowing but all solid moves that makes sense for us in the longterm and makes this team deeper today. I have moderate expectations for next season. I don’t expect a big jump in the standings but it looks like we can be atleast competitive every night. Someone elsewhere pointed out that a reccuring theme with these additions was locker room presence and character. Makes one think that maybe that was a problem last year that Yzerman felt needed to be adressed. Not necessarily bad character but lack there of.

Sure, we shouldn't do this if it's not necessary. My point was if there was a need we are in a pretty unique position to do this without it really doing us any harm. Frans Nielsen on the roster or waived is basically 4.5 million of dead cap space anyways.
-
More like 10 milion, isn't it? And we got room this year and we got more cap falling off next offseason in Staal, Filppula and Gagner. If there ever was a time to do this it is now. So basically the same cost we have been carrying from the Weiss buyout the last 5 years.
-
It's not even hurting us when you think about it. We are still saving cap space.
-
Imho only the next two years would be painfull and it wouldn't be a problem anyways with our roster/cap situation being what it is in the coming years.

With this signing and hinting towards trying Fabbri at center I wonder how Filppulla and Nielsen feels right now.
