Nobody is conceading to that Kips 'I would make him an offer he can't refuse' makes any sense. It would piss off the player, the players teammates and the players agent. What a great GM Kip would be...

They both signed the contract the year they turned 24, Fabbris birthday is in february and Manthas in september. And they scored at the same clip the season before. Manthas rookie numbers in the regular season are slightly better but I think Fabbri makes up for it big time by scoring 15 p in 20 games in the playoffs in his rookie season. So if Fabbri puts up bigger, the same or even a slightly smaller numbers - than Mantha did - next season his contract is a better one for Detroit. You were wrong in that Fabbris production doesn't warrant the deal that he's getting. Both when comparing to players inside the club and around the league. Get over it. Your injury concern is more legit but I argue that it looks like his ONE injury(and setback) is behind him and apparently Detroits medical staff and Steve Yzerman thinks so too. You know, the ones who should know. You just don't like the player that much and your gut reaction to this deal was wrong.
-
Sure, it can be. Just trying to break this down bit by bit.
-
Mantha got a two year deal, not three, same as Fabbri. Manthas ppg was 0.6. Fabbris is 0.59. That sorts out production. Now the injuries are the only real argument you have against this contract.
-
I was being sarcastic. I dont know what game CRL is playing here.
-
But if Detroit has the first pick in the second round(very likely) that becomes another first round pick for us. Win!
-
You know who else got CHARACTER? Perfetti, thats who.
-
Whats your take on Manthas current contract?
-
He got big raise because he was being paid basically league minimum. He was severly underpaid this season. He had a higher ppg than what Mantha had when he signed his 2-year 3.3 m contract.
-
Yes, admitting that he got maybe $450000 more than the ideal contract is the same as 'YzErMaN iS bAsIcAllY kYlE DuMbAss aNd tHiS DeAl iS tErRibLe AnD WiLl wReCK tHE TeAmS nEgOtIaTiOnS WiTh BeRtUzZi aNd mAnThA hE sHoUlD hAvE GiVeN HiM 1,5 MilLiOn oR tOld HiM tO GTFO'

Sometimes when people discuss players contracts they tend to try to find good comparables as basis to argue their point. This is actually a reasonabale reaction. He maybe got a bit overpaid but the contract is short so it will never impact this team negatively. Regardless if he gets traded, leaves in UFA or get extended,
-
It just seemed to be the logical next step on the topic of bad comparisons.
-
So far we have compared Fabbris contract to Helm and Abdelkader. Why do I get the feelin ol' Dan Cleary will show up in this thread soon?
-
HAHAHAHAHAHA
-
Atleast the Red Wings are doing their part. They named their top line after the BLM movement.
-
Arguing this is an overpayment is not silly. But suggesting the deal should be at 1.5 m is. Next time you guys go shopping for under garments make sure you buy those big white grannie panties because the small pink ones you got on right now keeps getting in a twist.
-
I will from now on expect a Sopranos reference or quote in every single post of yours.
-
The capfriendly link I posted earlier shows that most RFA's at Fabbris age (24) signing for 2,3-2,7 m doesn't reach his production. I think you overplay the injury history. The guy is young and there's no reports suggesting he has lingering problems with his ALC injuries. Also, Its two injuries on the same knee. Not both.
-
I agree on that a 1-year del would have been preferable but I dont think the market agrees with you on the money.
-
You wanna know why other members argue with you? Maybe its because you opened with this post below in this thread making hyperbolic statements.
-
I thought he was mocking kipwinger and mackel.
-
True, but I'm not thinking of Boston or Tampa here. Put him in the Montreal or Chicago line-up and he probably gets about the same amount of TOI and role. Both of them scored about 70 more goals forward than Detroit. https://www.capfriendly.com/comparables/robby-fabbri-9924 Take a look at this link for comparable contracts. Work the sliders to max similarities in contract and put points to zero. Its not an impressive list. This is what third-line wingers make these days.

I said we could be looking at a 70-point player in two years and that the possibility is not too far fetched. Likely? No. Do I think so? No. There's plenty of development left in the kid and we'll see how it goes. I agree with you on the latter. I think he's future trade bait.
-
And Fabbri being a 70-point player is not too far fetched I think. If you take his production from this year and put him on a team thats not the worst team that ever set skate on NHL ice, another 10 points is very possible. Add to that a bit of player development on his side and you’re in the ballpark atleast.

I don’t think youre crazy. I would have preferred a 1-year deal aswell. I think AA is a better comparable than Helm. Fabbri got the same number of years but at a lower AAV(not significantly, I admit) despite scoring at a higher rate. Both being 24-years old. Difference being AA becoming a RFA at the end of it though.
