Zach Parise agrees to 13-year, $98-mil deal with Wild

    Hello Rick Nash.

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

I think if we miss out on Suter (or any of the higher end forwards) that Holland will just go after the second and third tier guys with short term deals (like Sammy and Tootoo) and possibly attempt some trades (Nash, Iginla, etc). I don't think they will "stand pat" since Jimmy D stated they are going to spend to the cap and they know that fans want a better team after Lidstrom's retirement and the early round loss last season.

    Twitter Sources Not To Cite

Can someone post some good sources to follow that actually break news and not re-report it? Here are the hockey folks I follow, although some are re-posters: @wingsfrontman @georgemalik @ansarkhanmlive @freepwings @redwingsmlive @wyshynski @tsnbobmckenzie @darrendreger

Wings are gonna be a bigger/tougher team

Parise is not large, but I see where you are going.
  5. Because we would be the most Americanized team.

Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

All this talk about Tootoo being a d-bag on and off the ice and having personal issues doesn't really have any bearing on his "status" with the Wings Fan Kingdom. Wings fans love our d-bags. Probert is a prime example. He was an off the ice troublemaker and a bit of a cheap-shotting goon later in his career but he is a mythic player to us now. People constantly bring up retiring his number (with Chelios on the banner) because of his reputation as a tough guy. He had his own demons and it seemed like it only added to his persona. Now that I mention it. Chelios and Wendel Clark. Two guys that joined the Wings at the same time when most fans thought they would NEVER want to see either in a Wings jersey. Plus, the Wings have a great history with taking a player viewed as down and out and allowing them playing time to thrive. Cleary, Olausson, Fetisov, Eaves, Larry Murphy, and Dallas Drake (who is very much a similar player to Tootoo that everyone loved while he was here). And of course Todd Bertuzzi, who most of the league and fans had gave up on and the Wings picked up TWICE. Now there are people who are so desperate for toughness on the Wings they are deluded enough to consider Bert our enforcer because he wrestled Weber a little. They are so blind to non-hockey related issues to see that the Wings just picked up one of the premiere agitators who can actually fight pretty well. Bottom line: He's cheap, tough, and can chip in a goal here and there. Give him a chance before you sell all your Wings memorabilia.

Red Wings Sign Jordin Tootoo to 3-yr deal, $1.9M/yr

I've always wondered how I would react to him in a Wings jersey. I guess I get my wish. I will say this. When we played Nashville I hated when he was on the ice. Not because he could score a goal, but because I knew he had the ability to catch someone with their head down (or up) and wipe them out of the game. He gives 100% when he is skating and doesn't really care what happens to his body when contact is made.

Wings may trade Johan Franzen for Rick Nash?

    I call BS... hard.

    Pens Targeting Suter and Parise

http://www.mlive.com...d_wings_69.html http://www.detroitne...er--Zach-Parise Apparently Parise and Crosby have ties through school and are friends. If it is true that Parise and Suter want to play together it may be enough to sway them both to Pittsburgh since they are set to be contenders for many years and have a younger core of stars to work with than the Wings.
  12. Wings_Dynasty

How much would you give up?

IF this were true (which it isn't but I'll play along) it would probably take something like: Franzen, Kindl, Jurco, 1st rounder.

Red Wings OUT of bidding for D Justin Schultz

Did Brunnstrom? The majority of the fans at the Joe will not even know who Schultz is.

    Nope, only fans do.

    Pens Targeting Suter and Parise

Honestly, I think Parise is a replaceable player (Semin springs to mind if he plays to potential) but I think Suter is an almost MUST for the defensive side of the Wings game since our top 6 right now are very young and not that offensively gifted.

Enhanced Red Wings News Added to Forums

Very cool. For the Safari users, just go to "Safari" then "Empty Cache" (or Option-Command-E) and reload the page and the tab will be at the top. EDIT: Should mention I am doing this for Mac people. For Chrome hit Command-Y to bring up History and click Clear All Browsing Data. Make sure that Empty The Cache is selected. Then reload the page. For Firefox on the menu bar click Firefox and go to Preferences. Click on the Advanced tab then the Network tab. Under Cached Web Content click Clear Now. Then reload the page.
  17. Schultz won't make 5 mil, but other than that these are pretty good. I think there is a limit and it is under 1 mil. Anyone know the real number? Edit: From a Hockey News article: "The thing about Schultz is that money will not be the issue here. Every team that makes an offer on him will do so knowing it will have to absorb a $3.8 million salary cap hit next season - $925,000 in base salary, $850,000 in signing bonus and $2 million in performance bonuses – on a three-year deal."

    Trade Ian White?

He is as of RIGHT NOW our number 2. If the season started tomorrow the pairings would be something like: Kronwall-White Ericsson-Quincey Smith-Kindl
  19. Wings_Dynasty

    Trade Ian White?

White is our #2 D-man right now. Trading him would be a HORRIBLE move without a GUARANTEED and BETTER replacement waiting.

Rob Zombie to Direct Hockey Movie

Linky Doo Could be interesting. I personally like hockey movies, and Zombie's take on the BSBs would probably have some different (violent) interpretations and hopefully will be more along the lines of Goon as opposed to Miracle, Youngblood, or the Mighty Ducks.

    Power Play

Well, one more righty on the point would help. Eaves can fill that role but I would much rather see him at one of the circles waiting to release his underrated one-timer. Ericsson should be on the PP at the point. He has a 100+mph slapshot and it is under used. Teach him to put it about knee height and let him go. If Homer leaves, Franzen and Bert are the obvious fillers of that role. A Ryan Smyth pick-up for 1 season would be a great idea, but I don't watch him all that much so I don't know if he brings anything other than a net front presence. With Nick gone I guess that a combo of Kronwall and Pavel/Z will QB the point play. Not saying that Pavel or Z will be taking shots from the blue line, but they may be starting plays from that far out and be the ones to take the puck into the PP zone. With the acquisition of Suter and/or Parise/Semin, any of these players will be on the 1st line unit IMO. Ideally, the lines would look something like this: Parise/Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Suter-Kronwall Bertuzzi-Flip/Z-Eaves/Semin Ericsson/Quincey-White

    My 2012-13 Roster

Why no Parise? I know this is a fantasy because you have Abdelkader centering the 3rd ine over Helm and Flip over Mule, so why not have Parise AND Semin on either side of Dats? You have the money since you didn't sign any of our UFAs. I hope Suter will settle in Detroit for $6 mil, since the Preds and every other team will be offering him more. Why Brad Boyes? He had a bad season and you have him making $3.5 million. Is that your cheap role-player pick-up? Where is Quincey? The Wings have stated that they want to keep all their RFAs. If you let him go what did you get for him? Boyes? Finally, you have almost $8 million left, why didn't you sign Hudler for $4.5 over Boyes and get the guranteed 20+ goals that Boyes would struggle to produce? I know we all hate Hudler here, but sometimes he is the better option. A better question would be why didn't you sign a veteran (Iginla, Doan, etc) to come in as a role player WITH leadership for about $4 million? I know that this entire thread is theorhetical and al lot of things have to line up for the my or the OPs post to occur.

2012-2013 Odds of winning the Stanley Cup
