Lost in all the chaos of injuries and trying to make the playoffs, it just hit me: We've got some forwards that can shoot the puck. Nyquist Tatar Sheahan Jurco Pulkinen (if all goes well) Mantha (ditto) + Z and Mule, and sometimes Datsyuk Pretty cool eh? I think the last time we had 4 forwards that could legitimately shoot the puck was in 2009 with Hossa, Z, Hudler, Mule. I wonder if someday the Wings might stop constanly going back to the point in the O-zone hoping for a deflection or a screen from the ghost of Holmstrom. More realistically, maybe this will someday put an end to the following combination of words: power play. Bertuzzi. net front.

Pretty much yep. Illitch is half-alive right now and basically only seems to care about seeing the Tigers win a world series. Which is fair enough. On the + side, you'd have to think they're trying to time it so the Wings are truly back on the up-swing when the new arena is ready.

Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

To which he's probably thinking "f*** you guys, this isn't my playoff race. Imma go play in Florida next year" -
Hudler 2.0? Funny stuff. (until he goes on a scoring slump and we all blame his nightlife)
-
Here’s a question: If Atkinson or whatever the f*** his name is has an open net and a tap in, and Smith wipes him out completely, denying him a clear goal, can the refs “interpret” that scenario as being worthy of a penalty shot. Because if so, I'm going to bet that they’d, like, totally love doing that and stuff. Y’know?

That’s my point. Hard to nitpick Callahan’s 5 minutes of ice time when Todd BerTANIC is floating around out there like no one told him he already sank many years ago. I’d take Callahan at this point. I know Babcock likes his “big bodies” but Bert took a stupid careless penalty just because he refuses to keep his goddamn stick on the ice with TWO HANDS all the time. Plus he turned the puck over at least 6 times.
-
LOL. Unlike Bertuzzi who is just flying out there.

Hey. Jarnkrok with another assist tonight and a sweet shootout goal. -

So what’s going on with Jurco? Has there been an update? -
Bert absolutely needs to go.

The fluid drain hurts but it’s not unbearable. Respect the Cleary past. Hardcore. Put him in a suit and make him an assistant to Draper or Fischer next year. I’d kiss the guy if I ever saw him, but only after he retires. Anything short of that gets a punch.

Someone should give Mitch a quick run down of Blake Comeau's behaviour last game against the Wings.

Sheahan, Nyquist, and Tatar grabbed all their piece of the pie after being invited to dinner three times. All three have played in games dating back to the 11-12 season. In fact, only Jurco really made his case with his first shot this year. Although I don't have high hopes for him, this was only Ferraro's first shot. Just thought I'd point that out.

1. Inexperieced, young D 2. Lacking another top 2 D-man 3. It's the league's will. If they had their way, no one would hold a third period lead and every game would go to a shootout. For dramatic effect. I'd like to see a breakdown of penalty calls in the third period in favour of the team that's trailing. 4. Overall lack of either (a) mobile puck moving D like Chicago or (b) physical bone-crushing D like Boston. Our team is too easliy victimized when a big group of forwards open the forechecking floodgates in the 3rd. And every team knows that that's what you do 5.Psychology: Other teams know that we blow leads and we know that we blow leads. Good for their confidence coming out of the 2nd period intermission, and bad for ours.

Hopefully you won't show up tonight

My bad. Yeah, that’s ridiculous. -

Eakins is a loser. No doubt. But Hall is a loser too. And maybe he did it on purpose, which would be completely unsurprising and really classless. -
Management will assess his performance like this: “we have a future top 6 winger on our hands" But they’ll leave him in GRs next year because they can. And it’s what they do. They usually max out all of each players minor league options until they have no choice but to make them NHLers for life.. i.e. Tatar and Nyquist It’s proven, despite heavy criticism here on LGWs by all us Armchair GMs, to be a good plan.
-
Bingo. IF healthy, I see Nyquist - Sheahan - Tatar being a thing while Jurco goes back to GRs to dominate with Pulkinen.
-
Speaking of Axe, I bet he’d be some proud of the way his boy Emdog’s been playing.
-
LOL. Ken Daniels just referred to Heatly as the “all star”. And there’d the league’s precious late penalty favouring the trailing team. Why do I even ******* watch hockey anymore?
-
Get f***ed refs. Minny have been running Howard all game. Then you make that terriblele POS PS call. Then you call back a Wings goal for Mule brushing against the rookie and barely affect the play? Eat a pile of s***.
-
That didn’t take long.

Legwand’s really solid for us out there tonight. I mean, it’s not the epic 0G, 1A performance that Jarnkrok had for Nashville last night, but it’s good that Detroit can get even a little return on such a lopsided trade.
