Pittsburgh, LA, NYR, Philly. There will be an insane bidding war over Doan IF he choses to leave Phoenix. Holland will not get caught up in this. The only way Doan comes to Detroit is if he wants to come here above all other destinations and accepts a reasonable contract. Just can't see it. There. Now you can be really surprised when the Wings sign him.

Doan won't come here. If he leaves Pheonix, it will be for a run at the cup. I'd say that's why he's waiting. To see who's the most appealing when the dust settles, as it has today. Wings are too far off from a cup run to attract Doan.

Seriously. Something's going down. I highly doubt that either Parise or Suter planned on dragging this out. All I can think is that someone blindsided one or both of them with some unanticipated offer, and that this has prompted some sort of existential crisis. Maybe Mario offered them gold plated bunk beds beside Sidney's, in his basement. -

Great post. I got half way doing something like this before I had to go save a cat from a burning tree. Seriously though, it comes down to what matters more to Parise and Suter: joining a stacked team like Pittsburgh with an iffy long-term cap plan and dramatic loss of depth outside of the top six F and top 2 D? Or joining a team like Detroit who could ice a well balanced squad and still have 10M to throw around. Plus the Wings uniforms are cooler. BUT they'd definitely have a larger selection of jersey numbers to chose from in Pittsburgh
