What I like about Lyon is he's not disappointing. He stops shots he should stop. He's not ELITE, because he doesn't stop shots he shouldn't stop like the Roys, Haseks, and Brodeurs of the goalie world. But he's also not a disappointing bum like CUJO that stops 20 straight difficult shots and then lets in 4 shots he SHOULD stop at least 3 of. He's kind of like regular season Osgood. You know what you're going to get, and if your team in front of him is good, he'll win. Playoff Osgood letting in Red Line shots is an aberration, so we'll just leave that alone.

You gotta give the nod to Husso if he's healthy. But Talbot should see a good amount of games. I personally don't think Husso will be healthy, however. I think he'll be LTIR the better part of the season.

https://detroithockeynow.com/2024/07/22/red-wings-other-johansson-also-progressing-anton-albert-dan-cleary/ Hopefully this kid turns into a monster. 172 lbs at 6'4"? Wtf. Why does our strength and nutrition program suck so bad?

Im saying i never liked Rafalski

@Axl Foley well?

He's not alpha, right? Got this weird thing going on with cats and tattoos. Definitely soy beta

Yah, I dont know why. He's really slick. Seider prolly spoiled you. Give it a few seasons.

This guy is about to have a 30-35 pt season next year, and a 35-40 pt season the year after that. All with pretty limited minutes and pretty limited line mates. I'd say he does what he's expected to do. This is a good contract. Will keep him RFA at end of contract, as well. I give the SCAM and Veleno's agent a solid A rating for this deal.

Jiricek is awesome. He deserves to be there. Edvinsson is better than Jiricek, though. #29 for Edvinsson is a joke. He's top 5.

I just don't like the fact that he's not MADE to hustle 5 on 5. Great, you're awesome on the Power Play. ***** Great, Alex. How about working on your 5 on 5 game? Cuz you suck 5 on 5. Larkin's doing all the work. And if we play a team that has talent, you're useless. How about some strength training this offseason and some actual effort during the regular season, big Al?

Ken Holland is jobless.

Never did.

I'm in agreement with you. I think ASP has enormous BUST potential. Great - he plays with his head up, has a high hockey IQ, and QB's the power play well. Fantastic. But that's all you see in any highlight of him. POWER PLAY KING. What about his defense? He's a runt. Does he suck at defense? He's not Fox or Makar, so he better be able to play defense. Haven't seen that yet.

This inactivity on the Seider and Raymond contracts is bugging the snot out of me. Why wait?

cool. Let me know when.

Spot on. Why I'm actually a bit disappointed with the Debrincat signing at this point. His possession metrics are fantastic, but I feel like he does very little to actually drive the play from our end to the opponent's end. Not enough to deserve Larkin type money. I think Lucas Raymond does a far better job in that regard than Debrincat.

Great Takes. One thing I'm always looking for in these "highlight" videos are plays outside of the power play. Watching that Copp video in the other thread, he says something that absolutely rings true - if you're not logging 1st unit power play time, you're missing 15-25 points a season that would be there if you were. So when you see these prospects, and every single highlight is of them on the power play, you need to take it with a grain of salt. What you want to look for is the guy that beat a defender 5 on 5 and made the defender take the penalty that put the team on the power play. That's why I'm such a HUGE BROBERG FAN (if you haven't noticed). While his draft was happening, I watched his highlight film, and half of his highlights were him making great plays in his own end and then making quick transitions to get his team from defense to offense. That's what you want to see. Do you need a power play guy that can rip 98 mph shots from the point and QB great passes to the wings? Sure. Not saying you don't want one guy on your bench like Bouchard. But you also want 5 other defensemen on your bench like Nurse and Broberg. For forwards, you want to see highlights that showcase forechecking/winning one on one battles/hitting/great skating. If all the highlights are of a guy tapping in rebounds on the power play (Michael Rasmussen, Filip Zadina, Joe Veleno), then that prospect is going to bust out hard at the pro level as a goal scorer and need to recreate himself. Sometimes that can be a real good thing 6-7 years down the road with a lot of hard work, but better to look for the guy that already knows he has to play hard 5 on 5 and knows how to grind. The SCAM has excelled on draft day in selecting players that fit the mold of just needing size and not mentality. Outside of Larkin, Holland didn't fare too well with his selections in the 2010's in this regard.

solid. You coming to No Cal soon?

Had a good run with Jonas

I hit a nerve, huh

What does your line up look like for the upcoming season for Grand Rapids? Gotta have Danielson at top line center, no?
-
Would be nice if the SCAM did SOMEthing.

Remember "The Sword"? ONE MINUTE!

1) Edvinsson outshines Mo 2) Raymond not only doesn't regress, he scores 100+ points. 3) Veleno and Berggren are dealt at the deadline 4) Danielson and Kasper are brought up at the deadline 5) We beat Toronto in 6, then lose to Florida in 5
