He stinks.

Did you notice how goos McBroberg is turning out to be? Wish we could have pried him away from EDM while he was adjusting to the NA game. He's such a good skater.

Yah, Fabbri and Chiagard would be good offloads.

I think it was just 2 things - Walman was doing stupid dances. Walman cost too much. That's it. I always liked the sem.

The SCAM is a master on draft day. He is known for his ability to move into better positions. His roster management is suspect so far, tho.
-
Gonna be pick 20-32 by next draft

I'm not saying we HAD to play Lindholm with Seider. I'm saying our defense would suck A LOT LESS had we acquired him. You cannot tell me that you believe Gost/Holl/Petry offer us more value than Lindholm alone.
-
Who are we talking about? Helm?
-
For? I'm not against it. 2025 first 2027 first Wallinder Buchelnikov

Tampa Bay sat Kucherov and his 10 mil per for 60 games during one of their cup seasons. It's easier to win if you have 110% of the salary cap to work with. Vegas did it. Colorado did it. It's not like it's rocket science. Espcially if you're goalie has been out the last 8 months with a groin injury. Scam Presser: "We're working with Ville everyday. He's not right yet, but we're making progress. A goalie's groin is not something you want to rush, as we proved late last year. We're going to keep taking steps with him to get him right. Sooner the better, but we're not going to risk further injury to him by bringing him back to soon. I'm upset that we took that chance at the end of last season." BAM. 4,000,000 of extra cap space.

Meh. I'm not sold on this guy. The smart move would be to send Husso to LTIR for 75 games, play Lyon/Reimer with a sprinkling of Cossa, and then add Husso at the end of the season. Cossa will be ready for Detroit in 2025. We just need to pull off a playoff season next year, and then go for it in 2026.

Added Edvinsson. He's fantastic, dude. He's going to be a star. But you're overall sentiment is correct. Until these "prospects" actually do something, they're just trash. ASP playing 5 years in the SHL until his zits go away does us absolutely NO GOOD. We need to get the bums (Copp, Rasmussen, Compher, Chiarot, Petry, Fabbri, Husso, etc) traded to other teams and start playing our draft picks. Playing bums and expecting playoff caliber results is regarded.

yah, i think it's a small thing like that too. I think everybody liked Walman because of what he showed us once in a while with his skill. But I think Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder, and Buium made Walman very expendable. That's a 2.5 mil cap hit savings, and we needed to make the room for the prospects as we can't keep them down in the AHL any longer. Would not be surprised to see Maatta on the block at the deadline and possibly Chiagard.

Dude, that's why I was beating the drum for Lindholm. The SCAM needed to jump in there and give him top dollar. He's a top 4 guy on ANY TEAM in the entire NHL. And he's at the start of his prime. 8 years, 80 million would have locked us up our Seider partner and allowed us to have Edvinsson-ASP as a second pairing. Those top 4 would have solidified our defense for 10-12 years straight. Yzerman is prudent, and there are plusses to not going balls on a big ticket UFA. But that opportunity to lock up a 1B Dman at the start of his prime comes along once every 50 years. You gotta score on that. It's like getting a developed top 3 draft pick without having to have an entire sucky season. We had the space, and instead - look what we did with it. Gost 4, Holl 3, Petry 3.
-
And that we're on year 6 now of something that was supposed to be genius.
-
I'm just letting you know what Lemieux is rumored to have put on the table to Stevie. Not saying Mo is going to get that. That's just the ask at this point.
-
We're all WAY overthinking this and forgetting that most of the GM's in the league aren't Lawyers and Bankers. They're former players that have 10th grade educations. Yzerman is plugging guys into capfriendly and with an assistant helping him and trying to figure out a way to get to a number he likes. So what is he looking at first? Edvinsson, Chiarot, Gostisbehere, Johansson, Maatta, Walman. That's a whole lot of left handed defensemen for 4 LHD roster spots. He calls a former playing buddy in Grier (whom he worked with recently on Zadina) and asks him if he'll do him a solid and take Walman off his hands. Grier agrees so long as Yzerman throws in a sweetener. Yzerman gives him a 2nd. Deal over. The reality is that Walman was #6 on our LHD depth chart and making 3.5 mil over the next 2 years. The SCAM wanted to dump that and did. Nothing else to this. Just a cap move.
-
He's not damaged goods. He's probably just not a good fit chemistry wise and the Wings wanted to dump his salary. If it turns out that Holl is placed on waivers and SJ, having first claim, pick him up, then the SCAM will have pulled off a fantastic maneuver. Log jam on defense cleared, tons of cap space open. Boom.
-
Grier also has to let the SCAM give him a noogie.

Vernon is HOF bound. Ahead of Ozzy and Hank. Wha?

https://www.nhl.com/news/pavel-datsyuk-latest-red-wings-player-elected-to-hockey-hall-of-fame Congrats, Pasha. I missed out on Howe, Delvecchio, Lindsay, and Kelly. But I'm glad I got to watch Yzerman, Fedorov, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom. They were truly masters of their craft. I might show up for this ceremony just so I can meet the guy without having to go to Siberia. -
We are weak at RHD behind Seider. Wish we had 2 more dudes coming up that were of ASP prospect quality so we could just put D and G to bed for 10 years. ASP taking 4 years to get to the NHL is KILLING THIS TEAM. We need his ass in the line up NOW.
