Too many men Boarding (4 min) Tripping Edm off to a fine start. The officials cant protect them with 6 non calls a period. -
Good chance he doesnt even get to AA's level.
-
I have Husso on LTIR until game 75.
-
Lombardi has bursts where he does Crosby like things. But not enough of them yet.
-
How do you feel about Reimer? I feel like he had a killer season last year, tbh. I was fully expecting to see him get whipped to death on these boards, despite being the guy that needed to come in every 6th or 7th game and give us a win in a back to back with the team in front of him playing tired. But I can't recall too many nights where he totally shat the bed and gave us a poor effort. The Toronto win at the end of the year is sticking out in my mind as a representation of what he gave us 3 out of every 4 games he played. I think if he's available at 1 Mil for the year, the SCAM would be wise to bring him back.
-
The one thing you can't knock the SCAM for is his drafting prowess, right? He does what must be done.
-
you're just a 4th line grinder. That's probably why.
-
Do you want to see us do anything for goaltending? I don't. I want to see us move up in the draft to take a D+1 NHL ready top 6 forward. I think we need to make that happen no matter how many future draft picks it takes. I'd be willing to part with two 1sts and two 2nds in the next four drafts to move into a position where we could draft Iginla.
-
Yah, Mazur is a good player. Not convinced he's going to end up being a Slava Kozlov type guy, but am fully convinced he has Kirk Maltby guy locked up. This guy is ready for bottom 6 duty on any NHL team starting in October. For sure, the Red Wings need him there.

Love this take. I'm not ready to say Ken Holland is a bad GM. Because as you said, keeping people in place around you so that everybody succeeds is a valuable trait to have. And one could argue that a GENERAL MANAGER has that exact duty. The only real knock on Holland is that I never heard him say what I consider to be the right things for him to say. He doesn't come across as humble to me. He comes across as snide. If he'd have said what you suggested, SGY, then I'd like him a lot more. "You know, I'm lucky to be a part of all this. The organization has fantastic people in it, and I'm lucky to have landed one of the most fortunate jobs in sports. The team that has been assembled by Mike, Jimmy, Scotty, Jim, Haakan, etc. It's incredible. I feel like it's made my job of sort of keeping it all glued together a lot easier. Don't want to say I'm useless (laugh, ha ha), but let's just say I'm fortunate to have a lot of good people around me. I will continue to do the best I can to help Detroit win as many cups as possible." BOOM! He'd have endeared himself to the entire fan base. But he didn't do that. He took too much credit for the work of others without saying things like that. That sucks. And that's what makes him a tire kicking, gravy trainin, EX-Red Wing.

Traded up to get COSSA. Traded up to get ASP. He's making a habit of trading up. Hell, last year - he traded up to get (3) 2nd round picks in a row. He only used 2 of them, but he had them. It's one of his hallmarks now, to be honest.
-
Yup. Holland is the biggest GRAVY TRAINER of all time. Devellano drafts an all star team. Lidstrom, Konstantinov, Fedorov, Kozlov, Holmstrom, etc. Bowman and Devellano bring in Larionov, Fetisov, Murphy, Shanahan, etc. Brian Murray traded for Draper. Ken Holland deserves credit for not totally screwing anything up until the Filip Zadina pick, but he doesn't deserve more than 1/2 a percent of the credit for any of our cup wins. Those were all orchestrated by others. He just had the GM title at the time. This Oilers team was orchestrated by Gary Bettman giving the Oilers (4) 1OA's in 7 years with a couple other top 10 picks sprinkeld in. Ken Holland walks his way into the GM position on that team right when their stars are all maturing. He brought in Evander Kane. Wooooo. Big maneuver there. What a genius. Right place, Right time. Story of Ken Holland's life. He's a bum. Gravy Trainin Regard.

Hard to tell with the defensemen. They always look so promising at 19, but most of them DO fizzle out hard. We better start drafting forwards if Berggren, Kasper, Danielson, and Mazur are the only pros we have in our entire farm system. Our prospect pool is loaded with Goaltending and Defensemen, but it looks pretty sus up front. Iginla would be a huge shot in the arm. Gotta move up and snag him.
-
Only problem is that Buffalo looks EXACTLY like our organization. They need the same things we need, and they have the same things we have. Berggren is really the only piece that I think we could maybe get some interest from them with.
-
You think my floors are too high for some? Which ones? I put some time into this one, so let me know what you think is off. Im interested.
-
Osgood did too. So why doesnt he get the recognition?
-
The SCAM is known to trade up in drafts. Good chance this happens.
-
I think he's the luckiest glory hound in the world.

This is how you do it: This is how you'd do it, Colin. Insults to troops - builds team work through a common objective to overcome adversity to earn the SDI's respect. Gives the troops nicknames - builds teamwork by giving the troops "call signs" that they end up using as identification. Trains the troops by action and is knee deep in all the drills - shows them that he can still do everything they do even though he's 25 years their senior. Praises them once they accomplish a goal - "Private Pyle, you are definitely born again HARD" - shows the troops hard work leads to a reward and all the harassment had a purpose. This is what a good leader does to show his guys who's in charge without crossing the line. "If it weren't for dickheads like you, there wouldn't be any thievery in this world." That's my favorite line in the movie. So many good lines to live life by in this movie.
