Yah, Kip is writing his own history here.
-
Z centered Dats and Holmstrom for a good amount of time.
-
I actually was SO ADAMANT about Datsyuk's decline as a C, that when NHL.com changed his "C" to an "F", I flew to Toronto and forced the IT department to make it a "W".
-
Remember when Datsyuk played Wing on Zetterberg's line? It was because Datsyuk was not good at C. Love how Kip can go from the smartest guy on here to being highly regarded.
-
https://www.nhl.com/lightning/player/steven-stamkos-8474564 I emailed NHL.com and let them know Kip said Stammer is a Wing.

S For SMART. Steve could have done this. Didn't. Dumb -
Examples are just examples. You fill in the blanks.
-
Could not agree with you more. Can you imagine if teenage Chuck Norris decided to follow Fatboy Steven Seagall and practice fake ass Aikido instead of getting jacked with Bruce Lee and kicking ass with his FISTS? You don't have to imagine. Just look at our little sissy boy, Mo Seider. Gloving his way to a complete estrogen filled lifestyle. It's sad.
-
Yah, his AHL days should be done. He's NHL ready after his 4 years of Kenny ripening
-
AND we are still a laughing stock from a toughness standpoint. Can't wait until Seider gets slewfooted and breaks his ankle on the boards. Can't wait to hear everybody tell me how having a tough, hard hitting line up and a coach that promotes toughness doesn't matter. This Wings team is cast away ice capades right now. And it could have been a bunch of our prospects getting busy.
-
If he doesn't, a #8 draft pick is a pretty solid asset wasted. We need Kasper, Edvinsson, Danielson, Cossa, and ASP to stand out. It's ok for Veleno, Berggren, and Rasmussen to just blend in and not have to ever be the guy (which neither of them can be consistently).
-
This is how I feel as well. Yzerplan so overrated right now.
-
Mo needs to get stronger. Like Raymond did.
-
I should have clarified something, Kip. Sorry. By "ready", I'm not saying they're ready to be quality NHLer like Seider or Raymond. I mean they're ready to replace some TRASH we have in Detroit. Kasper may not be ready to produce 30 goal seasons yet, but he can't play worse than Andrew Copp and Copp's 12 goal seasons. Tuomisto may not be ready to pivot like Walman and stop NHL fore checkers like Seider does, but the few sentences you wrote about him sound EXACTLY the same as the ones one would use to describe the play of Ben Chiarot. Cossa - Reimer, Mazur - Perron, Johansson - Petry, Edvinsson - Gost, etc. The Wings have 4-5 players that are just TRASH. And they chew up a lot of money. I get giving our prospects SOME time to develop, but I don't want to see them all win cups in GRAND RAPIDS. I want that to happen in Detroit
-
Edvinsson, Johansson, Berggren, Mazur, Kasper, and Cossa are all ready. That's why the Griffins are kicking ass this year. ASP, Danielson, and Tuomisto need next year in GR. Wallinder, Lombardi, Augustine, and 2024 draft picks need next 2 years.

This Trade Deadline Reeks. It reeks of the movie Major League, and Yzerman is the ***** owner rooting for the team to lose. I'm convinced now that Steve signed all his contracts thinking the team would struggle and not be playoff bound until the 2025-2026 season. He covers his ass everytime he's asked about it and says something that gives him an indefinite time frame. That would be all fine and great if this team was still in Mighty Ducks status, but it sucks the high hard one now that we're decent. He needed to become a good GM this trade deadline and shed the contracts that are going to hurt us next year and further. It's not hard to see who's hurting this team and who's helping. You just need to watch a stretch of 5 games. Chiarot - this guy is absolute garbage on the ice. Petry - this guy is like Chiarot, but even worse. He's like raccoon rooted garbage spread all over the place on the ice. Copp - complete bust of a signing. This guy does not have enough speed or grittiness to be an effective 2C. We're paying Copp 2C money to be a crappy 3C. Bust. Husso - completely fell off the map. Maybe not his fault, but come on. Trade him to a team that needs goalie help. Yzerman did nothing with our Trash, and then he traded Kostin - a low cost guy - because poor baby Berggren pissed and moaned about his playing time. Weak. Yzerplan grade for 24 TDL = F.

directionless is a great word. If you're gunning for the playoffs, you make moves. If you're gunning for a good draft, you make moves. You DONT gun for barely missing the playoffs and having a crappy draft slot. As it sits now, this team has 21 million in TRASH tied up for next season. The trade deadline was a chance to unload some of it and give us a fighting chance heading into the playoffs and especially next season. Somebody posted, one day Seider's going to be 26,27,28. HOW OLD DO U THINK LARKIN IS? This team needs to get competitive next year. Not 5 years from now. Yzerplan sucks right now. F HEY! -
Yup. I can't understand why any of our LGW members don't want to see our high draft picks play.
-
Berggren drew 2 penalties in the 3rd. He was playing just fine. Physical mistakes from our prospects LEARNING TO PLAY NHL HOCKEY is acceptable. Physical LACK OF SKILL/ABILITY from our NHL castaway TRASH is unacceptable. I would rather our young guys learn to compete than watch TRASH fail to compete.
-
Yup. It's painful when you can see obvious shortcomings and the GM remains oblivious to them.

https://detroithockeynow.com/2024/03/09/kostin-was-never-a-fit-with-red-wings-yzerman-simek-berggren/ Yzerman can't afford to have 2 mil on the bench. Chiarot, Petry, Holl, Copp, Husso = 21 million. TRASH. Other teams' castaways. Talk about stepping over dollars to get to pennies. https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/c/chiarbe01.html .39 CF with Wings https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/p/petryje01.html .40 CF with Wings https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/h/hollju01.html .44 CF with Wings https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/c/coppan01.html .42 CF with Wings These guys are TRASH. Yzerman had a chance to unload them and did nothing. And that basically means we are DOOMED to watch them suck donkey deck next year as well. This is so frustrating.
-
I'm on board. Yzerman had a chance to do something very special this deadline - aquire draft picks through selling vets (Chiarot, Petry, Perron, Copp, Husso) AND making his team BETTER by adding youth (Edvinsson, Johansson, Kasper, Berggren, Cossa). The return for all of our underwhelming vets is insignificant. We've got 4 of those 5 on the books for next season at 18 million. That's almost 25% of the cap hit on TRASH. And these are Yzerman's guys. This isn't some Holland carryover. Yzerman has constructed a team of vets that other teams ditched happily. He needs to be held accountable for their poor play if he's going to give them term he can't get rid of. I'm impressed with Yzerman's drafting, but his trade deadline/ufa management is weak.

Best part of it all is we are committed to the SHET SHOW that is Ben Chiarot and Jeff Petry next year as well. Starting to realize that the "Yzerplan" is not knowing how to undo mistakes.
