  1. What a bullet.  If we get Seider and Edvinsson shooting well from the top, our pp will really open up next year huge.  Kane, Raymond, Larkin, and Debrincat should get a lot more juicy rebounds, and our netfront guys should be able to pot some putbacks.  Gotta get 2 pointmen that can whack it and let them whack away.

LA fans are expecting Roy to ink something at 5.5 to 6.5 with term. That could become a mistake pretty quickly. I sooner just replace Gostisbhere with Edvidsson and wait a year for Petry to retire. Then take inventory of the defense at that stage.

Stamkos is a great player, not a PP specialist, would love to have him. But I think he will get a team friendly deal done with Tampa and retire a bolt.

    Well said

They have had no depth until trade deadline and have had s*** goaltending for half the season. Point is a minus player as well. Kucherov is only +10 despite scoring over 140 points. I don't buy for one single second that he needs to be sheltered to produce. That whole team struggled for many stretches this season. Not gonna ding him over an outlier minus season.

While I agree some may overrated him, I think you are underrating him. I don't see him as some saviour, but merely an addition of legit top 6 scoring on a short term deal if one were to be reached.

I'd still rather sign Guentzel either way.

I think the thing all of us fans have to do is be realistic about what CAN be done.  For me, I don't think you can just trade goalies away that are sucking up salary and on the injured reserve list.  And if you could, you'd have to give up way too much to make it worth your while.  What you CAN do is be smart about the situation and use the rules of the league to your advantage.  Have HUSSO recoup all next year on LTIR and come back with 5-10 games left in the season.  POOF - Presto.  Husso only costs you 250,000K against your cap hit.  No reason to let Tampa, Boston, Carolina, Florida, Colorado, ETC ETC ETC circumvent the salary cap and not take advantage of it.  Put Husso on LTIR through next April 1st, and use the 4.5 mil on Kane.  Use a combo of Lyon/Reimer/Cossa next season through to the playoffs, then bring Husso back in for Lyon/Husso/Reimer/Cossa playoff run for Detroit/Grand Rapids.  Go after a goalie at the trade deadline of 2025 UFA if one becomes available that's a better option than Husso/Lyon.

Now to the defense - Chiarot and Petry aren't going anywhere.  We cannot play Chiarot with Seider for 2 more years and Petry with Edvinsson for next year.  These guys are making a mess of things with a couple of really good defensemen.  These guys are the reason we're in a mess right now barely surviving to make the playoffs and not 10-20 pts clear of the wild card.  Had YzerSCAM locked up Lindholm for 12 million a year instead of Chiarot, Petry, Gost, Holl, and Maata for 17 mil a year, we'd be having a completely different conversation.  But spilt milk under the bridge at this point.  Simple solution - Ditch Sprong and Perron and move Petry and Chiarot to the 4th line with Veleno until we're free of their contracts.  Makes room for better defensemen and gives us in-game help in case defensemen go down.  This is probably the best idea i've ever had as a Wings fan.

    Berggren - Larkin - Raymond

    Debrincat - Danielson - Kane

    Rasmussen - Copp - Compher

    Chiarot - Venelo - Petry

    Fischer/Mazur

    Edvinsson-Seider

    Johannson-ASP

    Gostisbehere-Maatta

    Holl

    Lyon

    Reimer

Is it a stretch to bring Danielson/Kasper up to play 2nd line center with Debrincat and Kane?

Is it a stretch to move Chiarot and Petry to the 4th line?

Is it a stretch to have Johansson and ASP on the 2nd pairing?

Most of the LGW community seems to balk at these kind of things and say "so and so isn't ready".  Come on.  Ready for what?  Who isn't ready to replace Perron's 12 even strength points?  Who isn't ready to score 20 points with Veleno on the 4th line playing 8 minutes a night?  Who isn't ready to replace Chiarot and Petry's .38 Corsi For Percentages?

IMO, these are all moves we CAN make and benefit immediately from.  The "Sign Stamkos" type of arguments are pointless to me.  A) It would be hard to lure the player away and into our situation.  B) YzerSCAM is cheap and prefers quantity over quality.  Gotta know what to expect out of him.

Dylan Larkin is absolutely unbelievable too. Is there a better leader in the league?

Yah, he's gonna be a HOFer when done.  On his way to 1000 pt + career.  We are so close to having a decent team.  2 crappy defensemen to replace.  Just need Yzerman to have a good offseason.

  5. Pretty simple for young guys - hit the gym from May to September like a beast, gain 5 lbs of muscle every off season, and go gigachad alpha male during the season.  Hope the rest of our zit faced swedes/finns are paying attention.  Soderblom/Johansson/Wallinder/ASP/Edvinsson/Tuomisto/Viro - this means YOU.
