Lucas is a play driver and EP40 is a passenger. To his credit, he puts himself in position to score if his wingers get him the puck. RayRay has such good vision and awareness.

I have a limited viewing time of Trocheck as well, and I think he's better on faceoffs and has a nice touch deflecting shots from the point on PP's. They both work on the penaly kill where I would give the slight edge to Copp. The big difference for me is that Vinny gets the PP time and Copp doesn't. I'm just saying there is a w-a-y bigger gap between Thomas and Copp vs Trockeck and Copp. How much we pay for that difference is my biggest question. Sounds like we need Kip and others to wade in with what a trade would look like.

If there really is a bidding war, I would hate to give up too much for a guy who is marginally better than Copp. I guess the big question is what would a fair return look like? I have no clue.

I hope you're right... especially about Hughes I think Trocheck would be the guy since the ask won't be nearly as severe as the haul Thomas would require. I would rather have Thomas, but beggars...

EP40 would still need to waive his NTC which I think is doubtful, as his wife probably prefers a team from the sunny and warm left coast. AlJo has been steady this year and of late has been really good. He deserves the ice time to keep developing. I'm thinking we're not going to do much at the TDL.

I'd prefer Thomas as well. Perusing the Canucks fan board, the consensus is Petey won't waive his NT for anyone but California teams because of his wife, the Kings being a good trade match. Their biggest beef seems to be him spending every summer with his wife in Sweden and then coming into camp NOT in the best of shape.

Okay. I would make that trade for us, not sure about St Louis. The only sure player to be an NHL starter is probably Ausustine. Bear won't be as good as Thomas and the three 1sts wouldn't bother me. STL would want ASP instead of Wally/Lombardi//Mazur which would give us a future hole on RD. You still do it?

I like your reasoning, however none of these players with term are coming here for peanuts. Broberg just signed for 8M per and if we could get only Thomas I think the price would probably be a couple of 1sts plus ASP, Cossa, Kasper and MBN. I am curious to know if Andersson would sign and trade with us though.

Sounds too expensive and too soon to be going for it. We're going to get smacked in the playoffs, I see 3 of our dmen getting drilled every time they touch the puck and wearing down and the other dmen plain running scared. We are one injury away from being mediocre and I don't want to waste trading our prospect strength, Cossa or Augie, for a small improvement. I'm hoping for patience at the TDL, let the boys get their playoff experience and we'll see who puts in the motivated effort in the offseason because of that experience.

I doubt we're tough enough at this point to win a playoff round. For this reason, I wouldn't want to move ASP to the 3rd pair either through demotion or because of a trade. The kid needs the ice time to get better. If we could really upgrade the left side partner for him with a player that isn't on an expiring contract, I'm all for it. I'm actually really looking forward to next season with Cossa coming up and taking the reins and Kasper and Danielson getting better.

Watching the WJC and liking the Wings kids so far. Pradel G for Slovakia looks like a Cossa clone, big, moves well and covers alot of net. Svrcek F is hardly noticible so far. Bear F not playing for Canada. Eddie Genborg does it all for Sweden. Size, speed, good vision and playmaking plus he loves to hit people. Max Plante looked okay in game one and really good vs the Swiss. Kid plays a 200' game, great speed and sweet hands. I was getting frustrated with the US play by play guys when they kept focusing on Mooney's scoring attempts and effort, basically showing the kid love. Meanwhile it was Plante who was pulling a Pavel by stealing so many pucks and setting up every chance Mooney had. The kid just has a knack for thievery with great vision once he has the puck.

I feel bad for Lions fans. All of the I feel bad for all Lions fans. Watching Dan calling the offensive plays must be not much better than Morton's calls. Goff has looked so-so for a couple of seasons to me. Soft arm and slower scrambling. Have to agree completely about Ragnow. That is a serious hole. I'm not sure if Detroit had a chance at Dennis Allen or preferably Brandon Staley as DC, but both are better than Sheppard IMO, especially with in-game adjustments. Doesn't help that your GM didn't help Hutch by getting a solid bookend partner for him. Hope you guys don't mind that a Saints first, Lions second fan makes observations about your team.

Cam Talbot won this game for the Wings. RayRay with a nice move for his goal and DCat nice pigeonhole for the OT winner. We must be the crappiest and scrappiest team all in one, I mean how can our record be this good when we look like crap most of the time.
