Oh I think the injury bug will solve our D logjam pretty quick. Not saying Albert isnt good. I thought he was more deserving of a callup than Eddog. But I've also had Anton quietly ranked pretty high. I think when we were discussing prospect ranking during the season I had him 5th among D. Something like: Eddog, Wallinder, Albert, Buium, Anton Now after his showing at worlds I would rank him higher than Buium. Mastrosimone - taken in the 2nd round in the Seider draft by Yzerman - became a UFA today. After being drafted he did okayyyyy with Boston University, but transferred to Arizona State's program for his senior year, and did very well. Was their leading scorer in a brand new program. Wings probably lost interest, and Mastro probably had been unsigned long enough that he would rather go the UFA route. So not a huge deal, but he may be getting an AHL deal here soon. Hopefully with the Griffins.

Good point. This year is honestly going to be a good test of Derek. Is he Newsy, the SY hand picked wunder coach? Or is he LOLonde, the guy who kept Mo and Chia paired together for 3 months too long? Any and every option will be available to him. This is a coaches dream. He has a plethora of NHL caliber players on his roster. The losers have all been cast off. And he has major blue chip prospects knocking on the door. If the team doesn't show some MAJOR life this year, I will sour on Lalonde very quickly. And I think that's pretty reasonable based on the circumstances Yzerman has given him to work with.

I AM a bit surprised how cheap we got this guy. He cost the Penguins a 28 year old 2nd pair Dman in Mike Matheson just last summer. We got him for a 4th and a 25 year old 7th D? Like... he should have cost us Jake Walman. I guess the Habs likely value Lindstrom more than we do. He was basically out of chances here, but he'll certainly get playing time in Habs land, and he's still pretty young. I'm thinking Habs D will look like this, this year: Matheson - Savard Guhle - Lindstrom Harris - Kovacevic Xhekaj Kovacevic is really the only one who can possibly threaten him, and he's pretty terrible. Was picked up on waivers and hasn't shown much of anything. So pretty certain Lindy is going to be thrust into a top4 role. Good for him. Lindstrom should honestly be thrilled with the trade. This will be a 2nd chance for his career.

With this trade the Red Wings roster is now majority American born players for the first time in history. What does Yzerman mean by this? I am not worried because at least 1 Dman will be injured by October.

Best part about this trade is Lindstrom is FINALLY gone. SY has managed to unload all the losers this year. Zadina terminated his own contract. Veleno not re-signed and told to f*** off to Europe. Lindstrom signandtraded. Masterful. Also want to point out again that we are likely going to see a Chiarot-Petry pairing. They were dope in MTL together and thats what got Chia traded for a 1st and his big contract here. Hopefully they can find that chemistry again.
