I don't disagree with any of the points you made really, but I'll speak anecdotally and otherwise for a sec if you care or not. It's pretty obvious that Babs conforms to the school of thought that players should HATE their coach. It sounds counter-intuitive, but it's a pretty effective and respected school of thought. It's the sociological presence of the "other" or the "criminal". When you give people something to hate, they tend to unite in solidarity of the thing they hate. Players who might not otherwise have any connection can connect in their hatred of their demanding coach. On the flipside, being nice to someone (a player) might gain their loyalty, but it doesn't inspire unity among the crowd. From a sociological perspective, hatred is often more unifying than freedom and love and being nice. From an anecdotal perspective, I remember my first year in college sports, we had a coach we loved and was friends with us. We finished last in our division and he got fired. We were pissed. Our next year the university brought in a guy who was a total jackass and abused us physically and mentally. We won a national title in the 2nd year of his tenure despite our complaints. And I still hate him. But I also realize he probably coached us to a championship. That's why Chelios said you hate Bowman 364 days of the year, but on day 365 you get a cup and its all worth it. At the end of the day I don't yhink the coach controls the game as much as people would like. But I do think Babs is probably the oldest school coach out there. It will be interesting to see what he does with the Jackets, and if he's learned to soften his touch at all. I'll never understand the hate though. He's probably the 3rd best coach in wings history: 1. Bowman 2. Arbour 3. Babcock Why? -
Bro read the article. Wings are not interested in 1-way deal on him. He's not even in the hat for making the team. If you're argument is "but maybe he could" then yeah and maybe we could also acquire McDavid right? You guys make my points easy when you stroke bad players.
-
No, they total them, and give players overall scores. Which also then gets averaged on a department level. Which determines which players are more talented than others... And because it's so hard to project how a player will develop, the overall score is often taken in higher regard than "is this player a passer or a shooter, what do we really need" You're so far off on this you have no idea.

Hes not worth bringing back as a 13th forward pp specialist. Wings just confirmed that. Whatre u confused about?
-
Im not saying you could do that. Im saying scouting depts DO that. And not just on physical traits either. They rank everything down to personality traits. You dont know how scouting works. Raymond is a prime example of where SY went out and selected by BPA, not on need.
-
He wont be 13th forward on a 2way deal. He wont even be on the roster most of the season. Mind blown yet?
-
Two-way aka AHL call up. No one is signing this guy to work an NHL PP fulltime.

>Trump lost >Trump did nothing for 4 years. Didn't even build his promised wall -
You can absolutely draft based on BPA. Most scouts score players based on certain abilities in their reports. Those scores get totaled up to an overall score. Then those get compiled and averaged by the scouting director. They can then rank their draft board. If anything teams are picking based on BPA first, but might deviate for need when appropriate.

>Planning on giving the 13th forward PP time Ya'll be going to the Jim Benning academy of roster construction

Id play Andrej Nestrasil at 4C over Joe

Where is Moore? Benson?

Chiasson played good for 52 minutes in 20 games. Do the math. This is a 33 year old forward that spent most of the year in the AHL. We needed him as a depth call up after the trade deadline, and nothing more. Yes he played decently within a limited aspect of the game during that callup, but nothing more. You guys are 100% romancing this player, because you're acting as if our PP could really use/need these player. This is not Tomas Holmstrom. This is Alex Chiasson. There's a variety of better options for a PP specialist on the open market. THIS IS NOT A PP SPECIALIST THIS IS AN AHLER. If he wants to re-sign for league min for 1 year and play in the AHL, great, if we need a guy for that. Otherwise, he's literally THE FIRST player out the door. I had to give this same talk to @F.Michael a few years ago when he was insistent on re-signing Troy Stetcher. Stetcher is worthless. Chiasson is worthless. Shame on @kipwinger for even bringing it up. There's multiple other players worth discussing bringing back, Chiasson isn't one of them.

I see Kasper being 2/3C most of the season

CBJ GM Jarmo Kek on a acquiring gaay hater Provorov: Freedom to hate is our most sacred freedom

Now I'm curious to know if: A. @diehardredwingsfan58 just hates TDA because *reasons* and is dumbly making stuff up to justify it or B. @diehardredwingsfan58 actually heard slurs from the Bolts bench, and is dumbly mis-attributing them to TDA Either way, this thread is about to be fun again. The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last...

It's confusing to me from LA's perspective To LA: AHL Forward + AHL Dman + $2 mil of Provorov's salary for 2 years Leaving LA: 2nd Rd prospect + 3rd pair D + AHL goalie + 2nd Rd pick Seems like LA paid to hurt themselves

After Moore/Smith/Benson, I think it's a crap shoot. And I expect all 3 to be gone by our pick, so our pick is a crap shoot. Who knows what Yzerman likes in that (likely) scenario. IMO the BPA at that point is: Forward: Leonard or Brindley Defense: Simashev or Sandin-Pellikka If I had to pick a BPA out of all 4 it's probably Sandin-Pellikka. I can really see that being our pick. Smaller, more offensive minded, Swedish RHD. It makes sense. And it fits our needs. However, Simashev does match the Yzerman-model of a Dman so to speak, more than ASP does. He just doesn't fit our needs at all. Leonard and Brindley is kind of a toss up for me.
