12/14 - Ned's Dead Baby GDT - Hellberg v Wild - Already in the 2nd

>stop striding. Coast. Bring arms up to chest. Push through the hit with arms instead of jumping. >out to lunch manlet, who's head is where a mans shoulders should be, runs his dome straight into the hit Tired of seeing bigger guys get punished bc a short guy left himself defensless. Its just physics at that point that there's going to be some head contact. That hit was text book. You know what would have ACTUALLY prevented head contact in this scenario? Hronek not looking full on backwards while skating up the center of the ice with the puck lol. If he wasnt so egregiously unaware he could have had those final split seconds to brace and protect himself. But he didnt cause Hronek was the one being dumb here. Maybe the NHL should make being an r slur against the rules. Dude got textbook rocked. The small should fear the large. -

BTW Im honestly disappointed in some Wings fans Ive seen on that Hronek hit. That was clean all the way. In Reaves terms that hit wasn't even that substantial. Fil learned an important lesson tonight - don't look backwards when Reaves is on the ice dumby. Hope he isn't injured forever or something. Now him after Maata, and our defense is suddenly decimated... hoorayyyyy -

You have to always remember we are legit spoiled with the best play by play in the league by a long shot. Redmond and Daniels are 1st ballot HOF. Most teams are fielding Jimmy Howard, or lesser. I don't think anyone has realized yet what an atom bomb on this team/crew it will be when Mick retires. Get ready, cause unless Yzerman is gonna smoke blunts and trash players he doesn't like live on broadcast, we are gonna be majorly disappointed with Micks replacement. I don't think I'm even being a little bit homer either. I've seen our broadcast ranked and admired by other teams fans. So Howard is probably actually just average, per usual -
Panik was a cap dump and Vitale was perma LTIR stay under 50 contracts situation. It'd be a bit of blunder for SY to award Zadina 3 years @ $1.825 and then immediately get negative value from him as a cap dump trade in the same year. But if it happened with Panik it could happen you're right. Just like my... oh, yes, Islanders.

He'll be playing with Tnias Mathurin now too. Always good to see two Wings on the same team starting the chemistry early. I follow some guys who are Russian prospect nerds, so I can get their scoop on things. Buchnelikov was definitely on radars, as even they/I was aware he was sneaky good b4 the draft. That said, Trikozov was the favorite (besides the obvious 1st rounders), and I as well wanted Trikozov for the Gleb memes. This year: Miroshnichenko (taken 20th same draft) - 0 pts in 3 KHL - 3 pts in 4 VHL - 11 pts in 8 MHL Buchnelikov -------------------------------------- 2 pts in 10 KHL - 20 pts in 18 VHL - 9 pts in 3 MHL Trikozov ------------------------------------------- 0 pts in 1 KHL - 9 pts in 20 VHL - 3 pts in 5 MHL There's a distinct possibility we got the best Russian in that draft in the 2nd round. Only Danila Yurov is ahead of him (24th overall) - but Yurov also started in the VHL and got called up to the KHL very quickly, so he has quite a few more games played in the KHL than Buch does. But Yurov also hasn't scored much since he's been there...

Speaking of steal, Pasquale Zito just got traded (in the OHL) for a nice haul. Hes scoring at a PPG pace (again) since we drafted him. Cost us a 6th rounder.
-
If Nash couldnt find takers for Tolvanen, then Zadina has no trade value.
-
We should waive Zadina...
-
Yeah disregard im completely wrong. Eli Tolvanen confirmed sux and Yzerman hates him.
-
Isnt the waiver wire a rolling list though? Like once you succesfully make a claim you roll down to a lower priority. If so, the Wings recently got Hellberg, meaning we perhaps DID claim, but Seattle had higher priority. Idk fersure though and dont feel like reading the CBA.
-
Idk im just cherry picking stats
-
Feel like he makes everyone better around him. Kubalik being a prime example. Larkin and Perron are making that guys career right now.
-
Also Amadeus Lombardi is 3rd in scoring in the entire OHL...
-
Ali now has 14 pts in 17 games. VERY excited about this player. He's expected to join Notre Dame after the USHL this year. Kid has all the tools - already 6' and 200 lbs at 18. Is fast on his skates and plays a physical forechecking style at center. Oh and right, he's also scoring too. I'm hoping he'll grace us with his presence b4 completing college.

Kubalik has been dope - but David Perron is perhaps the best UFA signing the Wings have grabbed in a longgggg time. I absolutely love the way he plays. In fact, I'd say he's probably most similar in play style to Tyler Bertuzzi. Plays a fearless simple game. Just plain gets it done consistently. If this guy had more raw talent he'd fit the mold and scoring of a HOF player. I'm honestly embarrassed that I overlooked how good this player was for so long. I always thought he was just some average Nyquist/Tatar level winger - but I'd easily take Perron over either of them anyday. Easy to see why he was a Blues fan fav for so long. Khan reported back in the summer that Perron immediately took on a leadership role within the lockerroom upon the start of practice. I love how SY has marbled in these veteran leaders year after year since taking over. And I love how Perron has taken that role to another level after Staal, right on track with this team taking it's game to another level. SY could kiss my one true love Carly Johnston on the press conference stage at this point and I wouldn't even care that much

I have to agree with you at this point. I'm tired of seeing Chiarot step up in the Ozone. BRO you're literally bad with the puck stahhhhhhhhpppppp If he would do what was expected, and not try to do too much, this pairing would be looking better -
Meanwhile Jordan Binnington sucks and is an emotional man-child Thank you Blues!

For anyone who missed it - Chara said on a podcast that back during the 2011 finals someone told them the Canucks were out on the ice IN BOSTON practicing carrying the cup and skating it around. And this motivated them to win the finals. I believe Bieksa here. It probably never happened, and was manufactured by the Bruins coaching staff to motivate the boys. And dumb giraffe Chara bought it hook line and sinker and is now repeating it years later. Found the story interesting because what a genius move by Claude Julien and/or the Bruins staff. You know that fat old french f*** is chuckling to himself somewhere right now.

I couldn't find where I posted about it, but I loved this trade for Florida at the time. Mostly cause I think Matt Tkachuk is one of the most dominant players in the league - and, completely unrelated - I hate the Flames. But I was told Weegar and a 1st made this is a bad trade for Florida and Brad was doing an excellent job... Tkachuk = 37 pts Huberdeau = 17 pts Weegar = 6 pts This should be the feather in Bill Zito's hat, and other GM's should take notes.

I'm willing to be patient with a goalie. Just sucks that Stevie SPENT solid assets to reach up and take this guy... then walnuts continues to look like the better player post draft, and now Cossa is stinking up the ECHL. I REALLY like Cossa's personality as a player and he'll probably turn this around in time.
-
Dallas used our picks in that trade to take Wyatt Johnston (already in the NHL and on pace for 36 pts at 19 years old) Artem Grushnikov - a top defensive dman in the OHL And Jack Bar - average college defense prospect Meanwhile Cossa can barely put together a decent ECHL game. Stevie should have been patient and waited for a goalie to fall to him at 23. He may have still gotten Cossa, or maybe even Walstedt. And we'd have another 2nd and 5th in hand...Not to mention Husso is making it seem like we dont need Cossa anytime soon. Husso is a ******* killer.

What if SY didn't beef up this team in UFA to get better... he did it to prepare for a major sell off. This team is much better with our new found depth. We might even squeak into the playoffs. But - real talk - we all know this team would be a bottom seed, and would get bounced by a powerhouse like Tampa or Boston in the 1st round. So I think it behooves us to sell at this deadline regardless of where we are in the picture. Therefore, lets consider selling Bertuzzi AND Larkin - and begin the process of purging the last bits of Holland's tenure. It would explain why SY went and got Copp AND Kubalik AND Perron, when none of us really saw those Kuba and Perron signings coming. They are their to fill in the gaps for a departure of Larkin and Bertuzzi. If one thing is for certain - if you're going to trade Larkin/Tuzzi - this is the LAST opportunity to do so. They still have low enough AAV's to be manageable for a playoff team in a trade, and they don't yet have the massive term they are about to get, and they will also both likely be a lot worse players when their next contracts are done. BUT THEY ARE OUR CORE PLAYERS!!! For right now they are yes, but Yzerman's core that he personally drafted is much younger. 5-10 years younger. Thinking of Seider, Raymond, Edvinsson, Kasper, and Cossa here. By the time Kasper is ready to lead us to a cup Larkin will be in his mid 30's and on the last years of an albatross contract, weighing our cap down. With the way this league is going we're going to be seeing less mid 30's aged players going forward, not more. Let's also talk about why this team is good but not GREAT, and can't compete with the big boys. It's been talked about on LGW for years: No Superstars. We don't just need a core, we need an elite core. Larkin and Bertuzzi are fantastic players, but they are not the elite of the NHL. We need Zetterbergs/Datsyuks and Yzermans/Fedorovs, not Larkins/Bertuzzis. This fact makes them both tradeable. Now, also think about the reward/return for trading these two... We'd be so setup with draft picks and prospects it would be unreal. This is our roster after the TDL (trading Larkin, Bertuzzi, Maata, Nedeljkovic, and Sundqvist [nobody else expiring has value]) Vrana - Copp - Raymond Kubalik - Rasmussen - Perron Fabbri - Veleno - Berggren Erne - Suter - Soderblom Zadina Chiarot - Seider Walman - Hronek Oesterle - Lindstrom Hagg Husso Hellberg That's honestly no worse than what we saw the last 2 years. And think of the riches obtained from a TDL like this: Larkin: 1st + loads more Bertuzzi: 1st + more Nedeljkovic: at least a 2nd Maata: a 3rd? Sundqvist: a 3rd? Imagine adding TWO (or more) extra 1sts and multiple solid secondary picks. THAT could be the real corner turn for this team. We transition fully to the Kasper/Seider/Raymond/Edvinsson/Cossa core AND line our pockets with multiple other high draft picks to add to that. Not to mention our other great players lying in wait - Beggren, Soderblom, Wallinder, Johansson, Mazur, Hanas, Buium, Buchnelikov, Ali, James. This year could be the final injection of youth before we make Seider captain of this team and build to a dynasty led by him. /rant over
