I seem to be conflating "your guess on bertuzzi's future" with the topic of the thread? How ever did that happen... Your "guess on bertuzzis future" boils down to: I cant personally deduce his value therefore hes likely to be traded. Not your typical cogent style, but by all means, roll with it. After all, im advocating for selling him anyway. Bertuzzi should be sold because his contract is expiring and we're not gonna win diddly this year. Larkin should be sold for the exact same reason.

Im not advocating for keeping Zadina, I just dont know who youre gonna sell him to. He has no value.

Im advocating for selling Maata and Sunny bc they are expiring contracts. Bc thats what you sell at the TDL. If we're not gonna sell then keep them. But if we are gonna sell then we should sell ALL expiring contracts, including Larkin. He's not special. Your position on Bertuzzi is all built on baseless speculation. If choosing a clear path forward and executing it is absurd to you then you should join Holland in Edmonton. Im advocating to sell completely or not at all. Retooling is the trap that Holland fell into, and all it did was push us into mediocrity and delay the tank. If were gonna sell tuzzi then sell larkin too and go for a higher draft pick. If we're gonna build on what we have then keep both. Which we can afford to do btw even at the high dollar ends for both of them.

I think they've agree to play out most of the season to determine whether he's the former or the latter, at which point they sign the deal. I don't think there's any chance he walks. This team limped along with an AHL caliber defense for years - but heaven forbid a 2C plays in the 1C spot during a rebuild... Im also hardly convinced ticket sales are tied at the hip to dylan larkin. But thats beside the point, this team has been in the gutter for years now. We wouldnt be taking a step back from anything. Get a kings ransom for Larkin, sign little boy Bo in the offseason, and boom u got Horvat-Copp down the middle while we wait for Kasper and whatever C we draft this year. If we can go years without a 1D, or even a competent top4 in general, we can make due with a 2C in the 1 hole while we continue to draft

The top4 have been pretty solid this year. Maata/Hronek have been particularly good. The one decision to make here is do we bring back Maata next year? If this level of play continues its a solid yes from me. That brings us to the glut of bottom pairing D we have... Lindstrom, Hagg, Walman, Oesterle, possibly Pysyk if they play him at D, and also Edvinsson coming up. Pretty certain Eddog will make the team full time by next season. Who else do we keep for the 6th/7th spot? Hagg - like the Erne of Dmen. Physical and hits a lot, but nothing impressive. Biggest thing going for him is he's cheap. Lindstrom - Honestly at this point he's Hagg without the physicality. Nothing special. But the biggest thing going for him is his youth and RFA control. Walman - Big excellent slap shot from the point. Seems to have some spark to his game. Seems like a guy who would be at least servicable stepping into the top4 when needed. Oesterle - Having the bounce back season I was hoping for. Playing a calm efficient two way game. Would like to see him get on the score sheet though. Pysyk - An unkown still, but was well liked in Buffalo last year. In a perfect world i'd keep Walman and Oesterle and bring up Eddogg. But Lindstroms RFA status and RH shot means we most likely keep him instead of Oesterle. Which sorta sucks cause im really not seeing anything great in lindstrom. This should be a season where he cements his spot on the team but he just looks like another soft passive 7th guy. Not sure he ever amounts to much more than that. I would seriously consider trading him while he still has some youth RFA value. Id also entertain the idea of making another big UFA signing this coming offseason, and re-signing none of our bottom pairs. Something like: UFA - Seider Chiarot - Hronek Maata - Edvinsson Keep Walman or Lindstrom as a 7th I guess

Ned sucks Anyway, one guy I'd like to add this offseason is Buffalo's #28 Zemgus Girgensons. Doesn't score much (he's also been stuck with the Sabres his whole career) but he plays solid D, can slot in as C or W, and could be had for cheap. Need to start rounding out this roster with some PK bottom 6ers like this so they can take PK responsibilities off the shoulders of our top6 guys like Larkin and Bertuzzi.
