What did Gary mean by this?

    Remaking the defence

In my mind the time line of the rebuild is this: Phase 1: Suck azz and get good draft picks. When you feel like you have a solid prospect pool to build on, move to phase 2. Phase 2 (WE ARE HERE): Acquire new coach and stabalizing support veterans for your prospects. Now is the time to work prospects on to the roster. If the prospects prove to be good future core players, move to phase 3. Phase 3: Spend to the cap. Sell the farm and futures for mercenaries. Balls to the wall to win now. If you do this well move to phase 4. Phase 4: Win the cup and return this cursed league back to the proper timeline. That said I am an easily swayed man of whimsy and would gladly support going all in at this TDL if were in a playoff spot. Hes lucky hes RHD and Buium is a ways out yet. His handedness might be what keeps him around. Really dont want to see Eddogg paired with him next fall...

    Remaking the defence

Our D situation I great. After Mo, Ed, and Hronek, we really only need x1 more guy to hit to be in good shape and we have plenty of good prospects already. I definitely want more centers. I'm pretty content with the goal for now. I get the feeling SY isn't gonna spend big on UFA's anymore and will instead begin working in the youth until we're ready to make a playoff push. Would be fun if that' this year... He's basically only played x1 AHL season so far. And now he's playing bigger minutes and is on pace to double his points from hiss last season. I predict he's next in line behind Eddog. Ajo still has a lot to prove, and Wallinder hasn't even come to NA yet. Floor for McI = KFQ. Ceiling = Brad Stuart. Jusst has to stay healthy. And who kept our playoff opponents honest in 08 and 09? 3rd pairing Andreas Lilja, that's who. In today's NHL all 3 pairings matter. Your 3rd is gonna be out there for the better portion of an entire period most nights. And Lindstrom sucks.

    Remaking the defence

So you are pro trading Lindstrom? I'll be honest, my OP was just an elaborate attempt to start a Lindstrom bashing thread. Right now im thinking package Lindstrom + Zadina + picks at the TDL to bring in some help for a playoff push. Currently were neck n neck for the #2 spot in our division. Dont sleep on McIsaac. I think he will be the number1 callup next year. He seems to be ahead of AJ and Sebrango in terms of icetime right now.
  7. For the first time ever I want to preach patience. Copp, Seider, Bertuzzi, Vrana, have all started slow/injured. Normally this would sink us, but our secondaries like Kubalik, Maata, Hronek, Perron, and Sundqvist have stepped up bigger than anyone could have imagined. It's beautiful honestly. And that group of players that has started slow are all good enough where I'm not really worried... It's nice to have this depth again... The thing I value in Chiarot is the ability to be a plug for 25+ minutes a night. Most plugs can't skate that much without seriously shooting their teams in the foot. But Seider has been quiet to start the season. I don't think that's because of Chiarot, it's cause of Seider. He needs to pull himself out of this sophomore slump and find his mojo. When that happens Chiarot will look real nice next to him all of the sudden, but Ben is not the driver on that pairing. Hagg is whatever, he hits a lot, but he's northing decent. Lindstrom is a poor mans Jensen. We should consider trading Lindstrom soon to extract some value from his youth. I don't expect him to ever seriously impact this team. And I forgot to mention that I can't say enough about Hronek/Matta right now. They have been the big boys on that D corps. For all the worries that many had about Hornek, and that I had about Maata, they are both playing like they want more. Good on em.

    Dekeyser's Value

The back injury aside, he also had that condition that basically prevented him from ever gaining weight. Every year I posted the "thickness" ranking (height/weight) of everyone on the roster, and DK was always the lowest rating. He weighed what a guy who is 5'/11" should have weighed wet and wearing boots. But he was 6'3"... Here's how DK's career should have gone: Signed to the NHL, reassigned to AHL, ends up playing 2-4 seasons on an NHL 3rd pairing somewhere down the line. Injured and retired before 30. But we had Holland and Blashill, so instead he made $36 million dollars and played well above his own place for YEARS.

    Howard = Average

    6'6". His opponent - Tyler Drevitch - is 6'
  10. Kubalik: Larkin: 8 Perron: 8 Raymond: 4 Hronek: 4 Seider: 2 Maata: 2 Copp: 2 Sundqvist: 1 Erne: 1 Hagg: 1 Rasmussen: 1 Czarnik: 1 Perron: Kubalik: 8 Hronek: 5 Seider: 3 Sundqvist: 3 Maata: 2 Vrana: 1 Veleno: 1 Raymond: 1 Rasmussen: 1 Larkin: 1 Chiarot: 1 I've been noticing that Perron and Kubalik seem to have a lot of chemistry so I went through all of Kubalik's and Perron's points this season and tallied who the other contributors were. Unsurprisingly, Perron and Kubalik are the main contributors to one anothers points. I think it's also interesting to note that Larkin seems to gel well with Kubalik, but not Perron. Having contributed to x8 of Kubalik''s points, but only on x1 of Perron's. I also highlighted Hronek because he seems to play well with both Kubalik and Perron. In general though Hronek is playing a lot better this season. The Maata/Hronek pairing has been surprisingly excellent IMO. I think you keep Perron and Kubalik together and let them be centered by Copp... maybe their chemistry gets him going a little more. Leave Larkin with Bertuzzi and Raymond per usual. Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond Kubalik - Copp - Perron Sundqvist - Rasmussen - Berggren Erne - Veleno - Suter This is what I'd like to see
  11. LW C RW DOMINIK KUBALIK DYLAN LARKIN DAVID PERRON TYLER BERTUZZI ANDREW COPP LUCAS RAYMOND ADAM ERNE MICHAEL RASMUSSEN OSKAR SUNDQVIST JONATAN BERGGREN JOE VELENO PIUS SUTER DEFENSIVE PAIRINGS BEN CHIAROT MORITZ SEIDER OLLI MAATTA FILIP HRONEK JAKE WALMAN JORDAN OESTERLE
  12. Vrana is always good AF when he's actually playing. It's just been injuries and now this. Could have gotten addicted to pain killers while sidelined. Which also makes him better and I am okay with.
  13. 1. Cocaine makes you better - I'm fine with this 2. Lets see how bad he is when he returns - he certainly can't sustain another ACL injury 3. I wouldn't mind Soder going down Sunny is about the only forward I want to re-sign not named Larkin/Bertuzzi. We need a few more grinding types in the bottom 6 to take some of the PK load off of Larkin/Bertuzzi/Copp etc. And also cause we don't want a bottom 6 with almost no vets. Instead of AA I'd prefer to bring back Namestnikov, Glendog, or Helm, or grab someone like Girgensons
  14. I just hope SY doesn't continue to factor him into the active roster. He should be considered our 13th forward going forward. Next year: Bertuzzi - Larkin - Ray Vrana - Copp - Perron Fabbri - Ras - Kubalik Soderblom - Veleno - Berggren +a couple grinding/defensive/PK UFA's Zadina

    Dekeyser's Value

Im not sure why it was this way, but it always annoyed me how DK seemed to escape fan criticism up until the very end. He was a bottom pairing caliber Dman playing the in the top4 for literally the entirety of that $5 million 6 year year contract (with NTC). He shouldn't have even been on an NHL roster the last 3+ seasons. With the way folks treated Quincey and Ericsson, you would think he would have got more backlash with his poor play and bad contract. Even Marc Staal got a new contract this year... I guess DK gets some leeway for being a Red Wings die hard? IDK Here's our D from last year and their roles NOW: Leddy (STL 1st/2nd pairing) - Seider (1st pairing) Dekeyser (AHL) - Hronek (2nd) Staal - (FLA 2nd/3rd) Lindstrom (3rd) Oesterle (3rd/scratch) One of those stands out... maybe fans gave him leeway because Blash continued using him despite being bad?
  16. Jimmy iss sooo fat lmao i love it Look at jimmmys hands. they are double the size of john keatings. like literal sausages.

    New New Prospects Thread

At least Eddogg is a scoring machine with the Griffs so far. McIsaac suddenly scoring more as well... still holding on to hope for him. Was really good in juniors. Pontus Andreasson had a super slow start but is climbing up the score sheet now too.

    Im guessing Oesterle. Then Hagg.
  21. Lalonde just screams another nice guy like Blash. This team needed a hard ass like babs, or Q, or Sutter...
