Was interesting to note that in the Presser Yzerman mentioned bringing over Johansson, Soderblom, Edvinsson, AND Viro this year. I believe he also said Viro had a great year. Maybe points ain't everything with this kid.

This could be the high dollar left handed blue line mentor we have been seeking. Doesn't hurt that he's Swedish too to mentor Edvinsson, Johansson, Wallinder, and Lindstrom. He'll be 31 to start the season with x5 years left at $7.26. Apparently the new GM in VAN, Allvin, wants his contract off the books, and wants to reform the team around their young core of Pettersson, Hughes, and Demko by acquiring players in their age bracket. This was OEL's first season with the Nucks, and really the first disappointing season of his career. Nucks were also a mess until they brought in Boudreau. Could have a total bounce back season this coming year. We can afford and need to spend to get to the floor. I figure a deal looks something like Hampus Lindholm's, but cheaper since OEL is overpaid and we won't require them to retain on salary. To BOS: Lindholm To ANA: 1st + 2nd + 2nd + Vaakanainen (former 18th overall pick) To DET: OEL To VAN: Zadina + Suter + 2nd + 4th

We have 47 million committed to the cap with 7 spots open (with Fabbri and Edvinsson on the roster) We have to spend 2 million per position just to reach the cap floor. Assuming Yzerman wants to be about 10 million over the floor (like this year) for breathing room, now we have to spend 4 million per roster spot to reach the target. If we re-sign Zadina at a generous 2 mil. Walman at a generous 2 mil. And Stephens at a generous 2 mil. We have 4 spots open and have to spend 4.5 per roster position. I think it's more likely those players get 1.5 and Fabbri starts on LTIR. If that's the case we'll have to spend 4.7 on each of 5 roster spots. We're gonna need to sign some high dollar players...

Even when Lidstrom did play with Rafalski, which wasn't all the time. It was because we had a killer 2nd pairing in Kronwall and Stuart. That was arguably the best 2nd pairing in the league at that time.

If any of the Dmen get re-signed I would bet on Walman as well. Young and followed by and acquired by Yzerman specifically. There's no room for Juolevi anywhere on the roster. Oesterle and (probably) Walman already have the 6/7 spot locked up. Then GR has McIsaac, Barton, Sebrango, and Newpower. Then you have SY mentioning in the presser bringing over Johansson and Viro this year. That's already 6 Dmen in GR without signing Cotton or bringing back any vets like Lashoff. No room. I'm okay with Staal coming back after Yzerman swings and misses on multiple other Dmen. There's about 6 names that have to go off the board b4 Staal should be called. Not a lot of room in the forward group in Detroit. If SY wants to add to the group Stephens may be expendable. And again, we're significantly beneath the cap floor now. SY may be forced to add just to reach the floor. Cheap players really aren't much of an option for us.

Only reason I bring back Stephens is because I feel bad we spent a pick on him. He can go unqualified or waived and I wouldn't care. Same goes for Zadina. Juolevi is probably done in the NHL. Walman has an insanely good slap shot which is dope. But again, I won't care much if he departs from us. His spot can be filled with better choices.

I'm not opposed to Edvinsson pairing with Seider to start his career and learn. But if Eddog is Hedman and Seider is Pronger you don't play them together. You split them to cover 50 minutes of ice time instead of 25. Pairing two studs and rolling an inferior Hronek 2nd line is just foolish.

2nd team moves into 1st? Idk. Gary f***ed up again.
-
Detroit doesn't win the first overall? CBJ drafts Wright? You tell me.

I don't know if Cotton will ever be an NHL dman. But knowing his strengths and faults (which are extreme) I think if he ever becomes an NHL dman he should probably be paired with a stud who can hide/cover those faults and allow him to play his game. I highly doubt Seider and Edvinsson spend much time paired together. It's much smarter to spread their talent across 2 pairings and roll them. Exactly why Zetterberg and Datsyuk were separated more often than not.
-
Yes, we disagree. Edvinsson is not nearly the offensive stud that Seider is IMO. Seider will be a 60-70 pt dman no matter who you pair him with. Eddog will be a 40-50 pt Dman if you pair him with a guy like Cotton.
-
I have no problem picking Kasper. Kasper the friendly red wing.
-
Edvinsson - Cotton Could be a beautiful future pairing. Eddog is the stud holding down the pairing so Cotton can do his thing and score 60+ pts as Dman essentially acting as a 4th forward. It could work.
-
Might be a Ras situation. He has nothing left to gain from juniors. He is eligible for GR and under contract so we can put him there if we want. Ned, Holtby, JVP, Cossa, Fulcher

It's not me (this time)

NHL Hronek, Seider, Oesterle, Lindstrom AHL Sebrango, Barton, McIsaac, Newpower Incoming Edvinsson, Johansson, Viro, Cotton There was talk about bringing over all 3 of Eddog, Johansson, and Viro at the presser. We have to lockup Cotton within the next month or so too. There seems to be a logistical problem here. How are we going to sign UFAs? 6 spots in Detroit. 6 spots in GR. Are we sending Cotton/Barton/Newpower to Toledo?
-
Cotton has 14 pts in 8 WHL playoff games so far. 5 goals as a Dman. Say what you want about his skating and his defense, this kid can score. I think he's worth signing just to explore this. His scoring ability can't be ignored. He'll get picked up by another team willing to test him out. Cossa has multiple shut outs in 6 WHL playoff games already. 1.00 GAA average. Taking his game to the next level when it counts. Berggren sets records for the Griffins and looks poised to make the Red Wings next year. Soderblom looks better than Berggren at the World's. Elmer might turn into a mega impact player for us.

I really dont have a problem with Yzerman going wing or D. Draft the best player like with Raymond. F position.
-
Complete garbage - easily one of the best red wings of the last 5 years
-
Dammit Do they think these Russians will fall bc of the whole war thing? I really like Gleb.
-
We're going Gleb Trikozov
-
We're going winger again
-
I guess he was injured twice this year. Not sure how he was used, but he was supposed to be behind Veleno and Raymond on the depth chart and then both made the Wings.
