Brattstrom has been much better the 2nd half of the season. But he's a 25 year old goalie just finding his footing in the AHL... I think it's too late for him. I'm picturing a 1 to 2 year deal max. 3 years is a lot to commit to a bad player showing no progress. I also struggle to see why he'd get more money than Ras. Rasmussen is a much usable, and therefore valuable, forward at the moment. My highest offer to Z is 1.2 x 2, take it or go back to Czechia.

This is absolutely my fault. I always bashed Zadina but included that I loved his puck stripping ability. If Zadina apologists mistaked my forthrightness for "Zadinas good defense" then they're wrong. I always continued to say if zadina had any level of defensive brain he would find himself in more situations to use that skill. But he doesn't. Because he can't anticipate a defensive or offensive play to save his life.

Fabbri is injured, Berggren isn't on the team, and Zadina deserves absolutely zero more looks in the top 6 to end the season. Sundog is a bit more skilled than Glendog was. If you're unwilling to try him in a top 6 role then lean on Ras.

Pickard is hurt, Brattstrom and Fulcher are awful, and the Griffs are in the hunt for the last playoff spot. Makes sense to bring in a ringer I guess. Hellberg was also likely looking for opportunities outside the KHL with the whole Russia fiasco. Hopefully he plays well and can get extended. Obviously I disagree. Sundqvist has been a bottom 6er his entire career on a deep Blues team. Still he's been 25-30 pt forward. He does everything away from the puck much better than any of Ras, Veleno, Zadina, Gagner. Aggressive forechecker, takes the body, defensive stalwart. He was an absolute menace to play against during the Blues cup run. I'm not sure if you guys are actually watching Sunny play or not. This guy was a fan favorite in STL for a reason. Much like Glendog was here (Sundog). On a deep team he's absolutely a bottom 6 forward. On this team he's one of the few players I want seeing taking Fabbri's spot in the top 6. Him on Rasmussen really. Gagner, Veleno, and Zadina shouldn't be there.

Larkin is impossible to trade right now as long as Suter/Veleno/Ras/Stephens are the back ups. If Bertuzzi goes... the writing is on the wall that Vrana, Fabbri, Larkin, and Hronek may all not be part of the future. I really put no weight into Larkin being captain. Seider can do that job yesterday. I listed him as a "wildcard" for a reason. Cause he looks like a boom or 3rd line prospect. He's basically Franzen with more size, better hands, and faster skates. He's 3rd on his SHL team in scoring at age 20 behind two older guys in Ryan Lasch (#1 scorer in the league) and Michael Spaceck (#9 scorer in the league). He's also #1 goal scorer on his team by a lot. Soderblom with 21. Lasch with 13. He's the #1 under 21 scorer in the SHL. He's the #6 scorer in the SHL under 25 at only age 20. 1. It's not hard to see the pieces are in place. Which is why I don't want to blow a good thing up by trading Bertuzzi and possibly others. Each one has high end potential. Could develop into elite players for us, but will likely at least be supporting characters if they don't. If Yzerman is willing to trade Bertuzzi, then he should also be willing to trade Larkin. The only reason Larkin isn't being talked about in trades is because we have literally no centers to replace him. I think it will be telling what kind of contract extension Larkin gets this year. If it's another 2-4 year extension I think that'll signal that that's the amount of time we have to replace Larkin.

If that's the case then we should trade Bertuzzi. Still don't understand why Fabbri was extended though....

If anything I think Sundqvist should be in our top6 Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond Vrana - Suter - Sundqvist Rasmussen - Veleno - Zadina Erne - Stephens - Gagner
