This is the beginning of a chain of tweets Chrissy wrote today about the pitfalls athletes fall into. I implore you to click the tweet and read them all (x10 or so). How do we save our young hockey stars?

50% taxes. Escrow. Agent fees. Financial advisors. Lawyers. Nutrionist. Personal trainer. Downtown housing. Model GF. It's amazing if they have any money at the end of the day.

Mika Zabinejad is the last true swede

I like how Lidstrom got himself a do nothing VP job to oversee "the family"
-
Yeah it's ugly, but Ras is just another 3C in the sea of bottom 6 C's we already have
-
I get the organizations overwhelming desire to make him a C, but we should be able to pivot him to the wing Larkin Suter Veleno Stephens Rowney Pearson And to a lesser extent Fabbri, Sundqvist, Gagner, and Berggren play C

Marian Illitch | Chris Illitch | Jim Devellano | Steve Yzerman | Shawn Horcoff ---------- Nick Lidstrom | Bryan Campbell -------- Aaron Kahn | Dan Cleary -------------- Jiri Fischer ------------ Nicklas Kronwall | Various others Horcoff has himself in a nice little spot. Lidstrom may be technically a VP (and an inexperienced one at that) but Yzerman has basically proclaimed Shawn his right hand man with Lidstrom to oversee operations. Verbeek was poached from Yzerman after 9 years as his assistant. But you have to remember the first 3-5 years of that Tampa wasn't viewed as a powerhouse. Yzerman was still a rookie GM making his way. From here on out Yzerman is viewed as one of the best in the business, even if he is rebuilding Detroit. Horcoff will be on other teams radars within the next 4-5 years, as long as he isn't replaced and the Detroit rebuild continues to gain steam. Lidstrom, Cleary, Kronwall, and Draper are probably competing to be Horcoff's replacement. I'm betting it will be Draper.

I'll preface this by saying these MoJoe shows are pretty dumb.... but But Mo is 21 years old and is already super comfortable in front of a camera just winging it. Veleno is a normal hockey guy with zero charisma and it shows. Mo has next Mickey Redmond written all over him. He loves the attention. He takes control of the boradcast. And he just has fun with it. I have a feeling in 20 years we're going to be raising 53 in the rafters and watching him in the studio between periods.

Nick Leddy. Maybe we should re-sign him this off-season.

Babcock, Peters, Q... you sensitive types have ruined hockey forever

Don't think lamber leaves Trotz without an HC position. Not sure Gronborg actually gets offered an HC position without NA expierence. I feel the same way about Larionov. Both are probably more realistically interesting assistant candidates.

Whoever voted other can you list who? Might have to be included in Rd 3

BLASH LIED PROSPECTS DIED I'm willing to bet Cossa v Wallnuts came down to personality for Yzerman. Likely viewed their talent as a toss up, so personal qualities became a deciding factor. Wallstuff is super calm, monotone, and humble. Cossa is super confident, outgoing, and well spoken. Cossa reminded me of Seider is his draft interview... few nerves, spoke intelligently, personality, confident and eager to prove himself. Walldude has more the quiet personality of a Lidstrom or Zetterberg (not comparing talent level). I think SY is looking for self starting, confident young leaders. Not necessarily typical passive lead by example swedes.

1. Cringe comp material 2. Nazi propaganda pushed during the 1940s. Slavonic peoples on the steppe predate Ruriks presence there. The varangians may have held political and marshal authority for sometime. But the region was already sarmatian for centuries. It's like saying Iberia wasn't visigothic because the Uymayads held power.

I watch Veleno and see potential there. He's not great or even good yet, but he's doing the things I want a center to do. In theory he will learn and grow and get better while he keeps playing this way. Maybe he doesn't, but I see the potential he may. Zadina is a trainwreck. He's hasn't been doing the things I expect a future top 6 winger to do since he first joined us in GR and I had the chance to watch him. Doesn't go to scoring areas, doesn't pick shots correctly, no idea how to approach a board battle let alone win one, can't anticipate an offensive or defensive play. Much like Cholowski there's so much wrong that I see no room for growth. If everyone would stop burying their heads in the sand when critiquing young players it wouldn't have taken this long for the fan base to reach the same conclusion that Mackel and I reached seasons ago. It's not hard to watch a young Bertuzzi and young Zadina and see one does things right and should grow and the other does things terribly wrong.

It's spelled Kiev. And Ukraine and Russia are slavic.

Iceland and Greenland was settled by Danes. The Swedish never did anything of note until Gustavus. They're basically the weak link of Scandinavia

Whatre we evolving into? Urban bobo with Wayne state art degree driving the zam? Trust fund Connor from Grosse Pointe driving? Muhammad muhammad from Dearborn? Kid Rock impression Wyandotte guy? Or should we just get real and let section 8 Ray Ray drive the damn thing?

Al was the last remaining bit of culture this team has. Might as well tear down the statue of Gordie Howe bc he's from the racist non salary cap era. Whatre we gonna call the mascot now? The octopus formerly known as AL? Drunk polish men from Hamtramck literally ARE detroit. Now Geoffrey Fieger is suing us for wrongful termination of the guy we named the mascot after. Sad. This team has lost its culture. It's path. Yzerman lacks vision.
