We have an extra 2nd and two extra 4ths this year. I expect Yzerman will prolly sell his extra picks to move up in the draft again. Best case scenario we end up with zero 2nds and two 1sts. And maybe an extra 3rd.
-
Leddy trade made the day a success. Blues just can't stop themselves from taking it from Yzerman. A classic tale. Stecher was worthless after his injury and Names has been traded for 4ths twice b4 this one. Not sure if Names will be back. I'd welcome him but it'd be a crowded forward group. Vrana - Larkin - Raymond Fabbri - Suter - Bertuzzi Namestnikov - Rasmussen - Sundqvist Erne - Stephen's - Zadina Veleno/Smith Not any room for other additions at that point.
-
Sounds like from the presser Bert and Larks will be getting extensions this summer. Yzerman should be pretty busy this summer. I think Oesterle stays in the 6th/7th role. Walman and Juolevi will fight the remainder of this season to see who gets a spot next year. Still gonna need two big dmen. Verbeek really screwed us handing Lindholm to Boston. Excited for Sunkist. But we kinda have a lotta forwards now. Vrana - Larkin - Raymond Fabbri - Suter - Bertuzzi Rasmussen - Veleno - Sundqvist Erne - Stephens - Zadina Smith Maybe we sign zero forward UFAs? Maybe good time to trade Zadina for a Dman like Chychrun. Weird that the panthers of all teams would step in to help another eastern conference playoff team with money.
-
I don't even count Panik or Witkowski. Wit will be a 7th 8th dman who never plays. Panik was immediately buried (with a buried penalty) in the AHL. That second magically came back to us with Walman and Sundqvist. That's good.

Maximum Buttman confirms Bertuzzi did not move.
-
So in: Sundqvist, Walmart, 2nd, 4th, 7th Out: Leddy, Namestnikov, Stecher, Witkowski Good return. Kinda expected. No big dumb Bertuzzi splash thank God.
-
Vrana - Larkin - Raymond Fabbri - Suter - Bertuzzi Names - Ras - Sunny Erne - Veleno - Zadina Blues seem pretty upset about this. Sunny is a shop wrecker and really well liked. Some fans seem to like Walmans potential too. The 2nd on top of that makes this a fleecing.

Sunkist I like. Adds grit to this team.
-
Business idea: To Dallas: Leddy (50% retained) + Zadina To Detroit: Artem Grushnikov + Antonio Stranges + 1st
-
Yeah the off-season is basically f***ed now that Lindholm is gone. RIP.
-
Almost thinking Namestnikov might stay at this point. No rumors. Leddy isn't on anyone's radar. Big splash - if it happens - will be Zadina
-
Bertuzzis not gonna be traded. He's not even being held out of the lineup. Go home everyone.

From @frank_seravalli on the @DFOPodcast: - Tyler Bertuzzi has expressed that he's open to moving on (not an outright trade request). Can see him moving by Monday's deadline. - Thinks Dallas is in on Nick Leddy, and a 2nd round pick is in play as a return. #LGRW Say it with me folks... RADICAL. SERAVALLI. TERRORISM. -

Guys Bertuzzi isn't getting traded. Eklund is the one pushing the Yzerman big splash stuff. It's all nonsense. Bert is part of the core of this team. Our best forward. Larkins buddy. Yzerman doesn't make dumb wild moves like this. -
"Suggested" If Yzerman cared about games lost he would have traded him b4 the Canadian road trips. Not after. Right when Canada is lifting restrictions. Your logic makes no sense.
-
It was rumored Holland wanted De Haan when he was exiting the Islanders
-
I'm vaxxed. That doesn't mean I support any of this nonsense. Yzerman didn't raise a stink about Canadian protocols. He spoke out against testing. Yet you just suggested Bertuzzi is losing his job because of his Vax status. I don't think you know where you're going with this.
-
It's all coming true. Seider is a Norris caliber stud from day 1 of his rookie season in all zones. And he has the charm/personality of veteran leader. If Bertuzzi is traded on Monday... the writing is on the wall for Larkin. Bertuzzi just turned 27 and Larkin will soon turn 26. If Bertuzzi is traded, Larkin, Vrana, Fabbri, and even perhaps Hronek, are obviously not part of Yzerman's future timeline. We could see Larkin traded as early as next season with his contract expiring. Bertuzzi this year, Larkin next, Hronek and Vrana the year after. Yzerman picked his captain with his very first selection as a Red Wings GM. He's building an Yzerman team, not a what Holland left me team. Raymond and Seider are the new stars, soon to be joined by Edvinsson, Soderblom, and (hopefully) Bedard.

At least in my model you could double the amount of games played against out of conference teams to x32. Therefore you play every team in the league twice per season. Then you play 2 inter divisional teams 9 times, with one team u only play 8 times. Maybe that's more agreeable. I like the model because it makes divisional games super important and possibly heated. I don't hate your division splits. I just don't see the need to split the league over national lines. That's covid reactionary BS.
-
Yzerman was super cool about it. Yzerman was the first to speak out about dumb restrictions. I don't think Yzerman agrees with you as much as you probably think he does. If Bertuzzi is traded its because he doesn't fit into Yzermans timeline and his value is at an all time high. Not because SY is butt hurt about a vaccination.

Fire Blashill. Zadina hattrick tonight.
-
Hopefully just Names. Bertuzzi is my boy.

Business Idea: Create more and smaller divisions. Play teams in ones own division a lot. Create better more heated rivalries. Western Hockey Conference WHC North ----- The Pacific NW teams Edmonton Calgary Vancouver Seattle WHC West ----- The California Boys San Jose Los Angeles Anaheim Las Vegas WHC South ----- The Southerners Arizona Dallas Florida Tampa Bay WHC East ----- The Central teams Winnipeg Colorado St. Louis Minnesota Eastern Hockey Conference EHC North ----- Great rivalries + Ottawa Montreal Ottawa Toronto Boston EHC West ----- Keep Wings and Hawks in the same division Detroit Chicago Columbus Nashville EHC South ----- Battle for Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Philadelphia Washington Carolina EHC East ----- The New York boys New Jersey New York Rangers New York Islanders Buffalo Each division produces two teams for the playoffs, no wild cards. Playoff seeding identical to how it is now. Regular season is 82 games. 16 games against opposing conference teams. 24 games against inner conference teams from outside your division. Remaining 42 games are played inter-division. So Detroit for example would play every team in the Western Conference once a year. Then they would play teams from Eastern Conference North, South, and East twice a year. Then they would play Chicago, Nashville, and Columbus each 14 times in a season. So literally half your schedule is 3 opposing teams. This years playoffs would look like this right now if it was scored the same: West: Calgary Edmonton Colorado St. Louis Los Angeles Las Vegas Florida Tampa Bay East: Toronto Boston Pittsburgh Carolina New York Rangers New York Islanders Nashville Columbus Big teams who missed due to strong division: Washington Crap teams that luck in because of weak division: Islanders and Columbus It would inter-divisional play uber important for the playoffs and that coupled with meeting those teams 14 times a year each means big nasty rivalries.
