IDK, remember Jimmy Vesey and Will Butcher? Both didn't turn out to be worth much -
This is the reality of this offseason. We're probably still gonna be super lucky if we even get Edler/Zadorov signings.
-
Basically the same return we got for Nyquist. Pretty wild. I think the boost for Jarnkrok was that he's a center and only costing them $1 million (retained 50%). Maybe if we retain on Names we can get that 2nd.
-
Yeah but Ducks might trade Lindholm at this TDL If we can't score Lindholm, we need guys similar to him. Left handed, and whom can actually defend. In this order: Ben Chiarot - Probably will be a bidding war and we won't get Mark Giordano - Won't be available, going straight back to Calgary Alexander Edler - 36 years old, offer $3.5 x 1 Alex Goligoski - 37 years old, offer $5 x 1 Calvin De Haan - 31 years old, offer $3.5 x 3 Nikita Zadorov - 27 years old, offer $4 x 3 Olli Maata - 28 years old, offer $3 x 3 Might as well just re-sign Staal after this Edler and Goligoski can both score and defend, they're just old as dirt and I worry they will hit a wall soon or get injured. But it might be nice having a vet in the locker room who can wear an A. We can at least dump them at the end of the season too. De Haan, Zadorov, and Maata can't score to save their lives, but are decent stay at home guys with some youth on them still. Maata and De Haan had some shine come off of them these past years and might be motivated to come and play with Seider to reignite their positions in the league. Zadorov has been forced down the CGY lineup and might feel the same way about his ice time which we can give him. Sign 1 of Edler/Goligoski Sign 1 of De Haan/Zadorov/Maata
-
1. Then sign him for 7 2. We have no one knocking on the door besides Edvinsson
-
I think we should do this: Vrana - Larkin - Raymond Fabbri - Suter - Bertuzzi Rasmussen - Veleno - Zadina ($2 x 2) Smith - Stephens ($800K x 1) - Erne Pearson ($800K x 1) Lindholm ($8 x 5) - Seider Chiarot ($5 x 2) - Hronek Oesterle - Lindstrom Juolevi ($800K x 1) Nedeljkovic van Pottleberghe ($1 x 1) Commit to Lindholm being our Vet blueliner till he's 33. Overpay Chiarot to keep his term short at 2 years. Test out JVP as backup. Roughly $11.5 left in the bank, with another $8.5 million coming off the books next year. Use roughly $7-8 that next year to hand out raises to our big players. With $12 mil left over to shop with and extend Seider with. At this point Chiarot will have only x1 year left on the roster, and Lindholm x4. Edvinsson will likely be on the roster full time replacing Oesterle and/or Juolevi, and we'll have someone like Johansson as a callup prepared to take Chiarot's spot when he's gone.
-
I still say we sign Lindholm and Chiarot. Then let Edvinsson compete for Oesterle's spot. If he wins it he'll work his way up the lineup. Fix the defense once and for all. Frk it, sign no forwards Sign JVP to backup Ned. Off season done. Vrana - Larkin - Raymond Fabbri - Suter - Bertuzzi Rasmussen - Veleno - Zadina Smith - Stephens - Erne Lindholm - Seider Chiarot - Hronek Ed/Oest - Lindstrom Ned JVP That's not at all a bad lineup. We can focus on forwards next offseason.

Only caught the end of the game, but Juolevi didn't look half bad for a new guy on a new team. Was registering some shots and had some decent passing in the offensive zone. Leave the kid in the lineup Jeff for the love of god. -
Horcoff made some statements about Berggren that he still needs developing and they're gonna be patient and not rush him into the NHL. I really think Eddog is the only prospect with a shot at the roster next year. And he may still start in GR or even the SHL. The off-season is the indicator. More stop gaps and low risk contracts SY can sell later and Bert is prolly on the move next off-season. Regardless of future strategy the defense needs serious aggressive remaking. I think it's a failed off season if Yzerman doesn't sign/trade for some much better pieces than we had this year.
-
It just doesn't make much sense to me. Why re-sign expiring Fabbri and then trade the better player with term in Bertuzzi? Maybe you just want more and better draft picks that Bertuzzi can bring you? But if that's the case why are you wasting draft picks on guys like Leddy? If Bertuzzi is available then we should expect Vrana is also and perhaps even Larkin.
-
NO NO NO Frank Seravalli is adding Bertuzzi to his list of available players at the TDL Says only Raymond and Seider are protected and teams like Bertuzzi as a Marchand lite.

There used to be some legit guys who worked there. But they were mostly guys who had separate careers, and did THW on the side. For example they used to have a guy who was pretty high up in the world of finance and he would go in depth into business stuff in hockey and that was some good s***. Now it seems to be mostly college students. -

If we are dealing with MIN. I'd rather have Rossi -
It appears to me Sebrango has already passed McIssac on the prospect chart. But I'd be happy to be wrong

Not really. Manson is a much better defender than Leddy at this point IMO. We should pray for a 3rd. -

I'm not sure Babs would even consider a rebuilding team with his ego. But we could just not give him vets to use... IMHO we've rushed some of our kids along too quickly in recent years. Cholowski, Zadina, Rasmussen. Not sure if HSJ is still asking Bert about his Vax status in every interview oppurtunity anymore, but she was annoying with that dead horse for a while. Think she even had a couple tweets that were like "bertuzzi still not vaxed". THANKS HELLEEN WE GOT IT. -

Calgary is suddenly a very good team with Sutter. It's amazing what a coaching change can do when you put someone with ideas in charge... The way they forechecked and fell back to jam up the NZ made it impossible for this team to accomplish anything last night. The score should have been much worse. I remember Calgary fans when they hired Sutter. HIS OLD SCHOOL TACTICS WONT WORK HERE. HES OUT OF TOUCH. PLAYERS WILL HATE HIM. WE WONT GET FREE AGENTS. Gee it's almost like coaching isn't about baby sitting and being friends with your players. It's almost like hard ass tacticians like Bowman and Babcock knew what they were doing. I'm ready for the 2nd coming of Babcock in Detroit. And I get the sincere impression SY doesn't give a rats ass what the fans would say if he pulled such a move. -
The defense - everyone outside of Seider is utter garbage. They cannot handle a strong forecheck at all and routinely give up defensive zone turnovers. It's like they have no idea how to break the puck out of the zone once they obtain it. This leads to us getting hemmed in to our own zone for too much of the game. You'd think Blash would have a solution or change or remedy for this by now, he's been dealing with this same problem for 7 seasons. But it's just business as usual. When Babcock started losing D men and his blue line got weaker there was instantaneous action and change. He buttoned down the hatches everywhere and started playing the entire team in a more defensively oriented scheme to compensate for his crippled blue line. Fans griped about these changes and boring hockey, but it was probably exactly the right move given his circumstances. I have never seen any innovation like this from Blash for better or worse. He's just not a tactician in even the slightest regard. Like bro - you gotta try something new. Play trap hockey. Clog up the neutral zone. Do something. I'd be knocking down Yzermans door to get somebody anybody off the waiver wire to help the defense. Give Oesterle a serious stint in the top4. Try Juolevi. Call up Sebrango. Just do. Leddy, Staal, DK are trash. The goalies - thank God Blash had the brains to start Greiss last night. He's running a young goalie into the ground in Ned. It's beyond obvious but it took him 2 weeks plus to notice. The forwards - dump and chase not working. How about drop passing? Drop passing not working. How about dump and chase? PP been a mess for years. What players has he developed in the last 7 years? Bertuzzi, the ultra confident individualist who marches to his own drum and could probably will himself to success anywhere? Raymond, the super high pick that was instantly an impact player? Svech, the dissapointment? Ras, the dissapointment? Zadina the dissapointment? Veleno, the dissapointment? AA, the dissapointment? Mantha, the dissapointment? Don't fire this guy tomorrow. Fire him now.
