Briere speaks French has been running an ECHL team for 4 years. Perfect.

I mean, you can imagine where I fall on this. Kotka is worse than Zadina. If Jesperi suddenly turns it on then it's a worthwhile investment. But he's 200 games into his career and barely getting 4th line minutes.... He might be back in Finland b4 Zadina is back in Czechia.

Raymond's father is French born. His mother is mixed race. AKA he is not blood Swedish in the slightest. Only happened to be born within your borders. How does it feel to be usurped by a foreign mutt Sven? How does it take you knowing the only real Swede on the Red Wings is Gusbad faux-Lidstrom? Do you ever wonder how much of your 55% tax garnished wages go towards bribing the Olympic committee to include this pretender on your team?

I turned and burned on Leddy about 12-15 games in. He's literally only picking up secondary assists and he's at the bottom of the team in +/- with -7. Really only our bottom 6 and Fabbri and DK are even minus on the season. Even when he was paired with Seider he was getting scored on a lot and was producing less than Mo, even when you count the secondaries. I'm giving the win to @krsmith17 on that trade. He was really the only one bitching about it. But if we can still dump him on an R-slur like Holland for a 1st it will be okay. Just don't re-sign.

So Molson confirmed what I suspected in his press conference today. Gorton will basically be GM, and the new GM will work with him mutually on management decisions. Essentially just be a French mouthpiece for Gorton. Not the dumbest idea ever. They get to continue with their hokey illusion that it's a french organization and Gorton gets a ton of media insulation. They should honestly just hire a a french dumby with Charisma. A Trudeau of sorts.

That's what it sounds like. I just remember when that offersheet happened everyone was acting like Bergy had just gotten dunked on by the Canes. I was saying I wouldn't be too sure, cause Kotka sucks and this may very well end up a huge overpayment in picks and money. Canes definitely overpaid so far in both. If anything they did the Habs a favor here handing them a 1st and a 3rd for Kotka. Kotka isn't worth that much right now, and probably never will be.

Based on offensive production our lines should look like this: Bertuzzi - Larkin - Raymond Veleno - Suter - Namestnikov Fabbri - Rasmussen - Erne Gagner - Rowney - Zadina

Definitely was a BAD pick in the draft at #3 overall. But the Canes essentially bailed the Habs out by gifting them a 1st + 3rd for their bad draft pick. Kotka would have done more harm to the Habs staying on the roster and then being traded for a 3rd down the road.

Sure, Ras is tied for the team lead in this. Still has 3 primary assists from the bottom 6 and PK, while Zadina has zero in the top6 and PP. Empty net goals: Seider (1) Bertuzzi (1) Fabbri (1) Gagner (1) Erne (1) Assists on empty net goals: Rasmussen (2) Hronek (2) Leddy (1) Gagner (1) Namestnikov (1) Bertuzzi (1) Point totals with empty net points removed and secondary assists removed: Larkin (17) in 18 Raymond (15) in 22 Bertuzzi (13) in 19 Namestnikov (10) in 22 Suter (7) in 22 Fabbri (7) in 22 Seider (7) in 22 Hronek (5) in 20 Erne (5) in 21 Gagner (4) in 22 Rasmussen (4) in 22 Veleno (3) in 9 Zadina (3) in 22 Rowney (2) in 11 Stephens (2) in 16 Smith (2) in 16 Stecher (1) in 6 Lindstrom (1) in 16 Staal (1) in 19 Dekeyser (1) in 19 Leddy (1) in 22 Oesterle (0) in 7 Renouf (0) in 1 Point generation pace with empty net points and secondary assists removed: Larkin = 0.944 Bertuzzi = 0.684 Raymond = 0.681 Namestnikov = 0.454 Veleno = 0.333 Suter = 0.318 Fabbri = 0.318 Seider = 0.318 Hronek = 0.250 Erne = 0.238 Gagner = 0.181 Rasmussen = 0.181 Rowney = 0.181 Stecher = 0.166 Zadina = 0.136 Stephens = 0.125 Smith = 0.125 Lindstrom = 0.062 Staal = 0.052 Dekeyser = 0.052 Leddy = 0.045 Oesterle = 0.000 Renouf = 0.000 Zadina is producing less primary points than Veleno, Rasmussen, Gagner, Strecher, and Rowney. But he's not the worst forward on the team at this... he's still out producing Smith and Stephens lol wooohoo! Also after doing this... trade Leddy now.

Raymond is tied with Andreas Johnsson for most even strength points in the league by a Swedish born player.

    So, Evander Kane...

Apparently Kane is fully vaccinated now (for real this time). I'd honestly be more partial to taking him if he wasn't and I knew he couldn't spend time with the rest of the team lol.

Ras certainly has things going for him. Good defensive center. Good faceoff man. Good PKer. If he never gets his offense going he probably still ends up as our 3C top defensive center. He's really pretty much there already, just needs to fill out and add weight to his frame. Zadina can certainly play defense as well, but that's a lot less valuable from a winger, one who doesn't PK or take draws. As a top 6 winger we need offense from him a lot more than we do Ras. But 22 games in and Zadina has ZERO primary assists. Rasmussen has 5. The kid can't shoot, and now he apparently can't create plays either...

Raymond's father is French. Therefore he should be property of the French National Team. Fight me.

    So, Evander Kane...

Kane has been waived and the Sharks are attempting to trade him at 50% salary. Would you take him for Future Considerations? Kane also just switched his agent to Milstein. Milstein lives in Michigan and reps Datsyuk, Namestnikov, Kucherov, and Vasilevsky. Probably has a lot of experience working with Yzerman.

    2022 Draft / UFA

I really have zero care if players are from Michigan or not. I just see it as an advantage on the market we can press. We won't be getting quality players much younger than Copp on the open market. The alternative is signing vets to shorter cheaper deals. I'm more interested in adding younger guys the team can grow with, but I guess this is an option if we really want to keep this team lowkey for 2 more years. Pavelski? Jeff Carter? Stastny?

    2022 Draft / UFA

This is because Seider's and Raymond's ELC expire in 2 seasons after this? And we want to lock them up before we go shopping? I understand wanting to be cash fluid until then. I just don't think these move stop that at all. We're shedding something like 25-30 million this offseason, with 10 million already in the bank. Shedding Dekeyser's contract and Nielsen's buyout alone probably pays for Copp and Campbell in itself. Or at least almost all of it. The books will be wide open this summer and I'd like to see some meaningful steps taken towards progress. I think the time for fillers like Marc Staal's, Bobby Ryan's, and Pius Suter's is closing on us. Not like I'm advocating for a Tavares signing or something. I do want to avoid significant term. If Andrew Copp wants a 7 year then yeah, lets pass. Copp and Campbell are mostly on my mind because of the Michigan connection. I think it will still be semi hard to lure UFA's in here. Not comparable talent wise, but SY got Merill and Oesterle in here with the MI connection. It's one of the few advantages on the market we can press as the Wings.

    2022 Draft / UFA

I think Copp is a MUCH better player than Suter is. Suter was a 40 pt player with Patrick Kane on his wing. Copp is 65 pt player on PLD's wing. And I'm not satisfied moving forward into next season with Suter at 2C. Suter is probably best slotted on any team at 3C.

    2022 Draft / UFA

This year he's been slotting into wing a lot. I really don't think that's because he's incapable at center. It's because of the center depth Winnipeg has. They already have Scheifele and Luc-Dubois filling the top6 center spots, and Wheeler and Stastny who can play their as well. And Copp is too good to be a 3C anymore. He still takes a lot of draws for the team and is a real good faceoff man. My understanding of Copps career is the Jets basically forced him to play 3C mostly for all of it. He complained about this at one point and the team told him to score more or he won't be used in the top 6. Well he scored more and they made good on the promise. Last year he really stepped up and earned his top6 spot. They could only afford him a 1 year bridge deal though. Now he's proving it wasn't a fluke year and there's no way they can afford to keep him on. Fans mostly discussing how to get value for him.

    2022 Draft / UFA

Just turned 27 this summer and on pace for 66 pts (58 last year). Plays solid D. We still need a 2C that's much better than Suter. I don't see a lot of other good options. Copp has been underpaid these last few years and Peg fans know they can't re-sign him. So I'm expecting to have to pay him. Hoping being a Michigander makes a difference to him. His mom was a coach at U of M, where he also went, and I think he still has football records from HS. You got someone better? We got money
