If anyone was Glendening's replacement it was Rasmussen. Ras takes by far more draws than anyone and actually plays center in a defensive role. Exactly why Glendog and Ras were training partners last year. It's pointless to go back and forth with you if you're just gonna make random stuff up. I don't really care about your personal feelings on the Rowney signing. He's here. We replaced Svech with a much worse older player for more money. I don't blame Yzerman for that. Yzerman's not gonna re-sign a player his coach refuses to use. But I also highly doubt Svech was willing to re-sign here after that seasons usage. Sure, but his presence makes guys like Gagner and Rowney completely unneeded on the wings. And yet Smith hasn't done those things and is awful. Another example of one of Blashill's prospects not performing the way they should. Even stylistically. Sure it did. Yzerman had his choice at the end of the year on which players he wanted to re-sign. He opted to fill out his bottom 6 with Gagner + Smith and an addition of Rowney instead of Svech. At this point I would prefer to have 25 yr old Svech bounces around our bottom 6 wings than any of those 3.

Blash is also now using Veleno on 5v5 more than he is Zadina. Zadina is getting the lowest icetime of anyone in our top6. And the only way Zadina gets back to the 1st unit PP is if we trade Fabbri this year. And even if that happens I think it's only a matter of time b4 Veleno and Ras get serious looks on the PP and push him back down. Then Berggren joins the party soon too...

With Ehlers and Scheiffele back in the lineup Svech has been lowered to the Jets 3rd line. He scored 6 pts in 11 games while in the Jets top6. Blash treated this kid like a useless 15th forward. On a new and deeper team it took Svech 2 initial games on the 4th line, and then a stint in the top6, to graduate from Jets healthy scratch to Jets top9. We should have started this season with an additional 24 yr old 3rd line winger in Svech. But Blash never gave him the opportunities that Maurice has, and that's why a former 1st round pick has moved on from us for nothing in return. But hey, we got Sam Gagner and Carter Rowney to fill that hole yayyyyyy.

Edvinsson is 6'5" and 207 lbs. Seider is 6'4" and 196 lbs. Literally already 10+ lbs heavier than Mo at only an inch taller. Over the summer Simon added an inch in height and 5 lbs to his frame. I expect him to come into camp next year at 210+ lbs and be competing with Seider for top ice time. I don't think he plays a single game in the AHL, unless it's for the Griffins in the playoffs this year. As I've said b4, a star center should be able to make most dummys look great and not need star wingers to get his numbers where they need to be. Larkin doesn't have that. So it would still be very nice to put a truly elite 1C on top of him. We have WAY more fun here.

I was very happy trading for Nick Leddy at the time. My opinion has changed. Consider this: in the 12 games they played together, the rookie Seider scored 8 pts and went +3. Leddy scored 3 pts and went -6. The fancy stats literally indicated this was one of the best pairings in the NHL AND LEDDY WENT -6. Now Seider has been downgraded to a worse partner in DK, but hasn't let up, and in 3 games has scored 3 pts going +4. Seider is a ******* golden god and Leddy should be traded out for a 1st or 2nd if we can.

We don't seem to play as well against the bigger teams like the Caps and CGY. Granted we beat the Caps once. Only guys on the team who seem to use their weight are Seider and Staal. Givani Smith is a bust.

Copp's been a 3C his whole career. Last year they upgraded him to 18 minutes a night and played really well. Now he's at 20 min a night and he' even better. #BEAST

Rights traded for cheap at the draft? Could be worth it for us. He's a Michigan native. Played for the US development program in Plymouth, MI for 2 years. Then For UofM for 3 years. And D-Boss is his homeboy from both programs. This should be an easy and smart addition for us. If we literally sign no one else I would be happy. Copp/Larkin down the middle would be extremely defensively sound and offensively potent enough with our wingers.
