Yeah. That was a huge departure from their previous albums stylewise, but you could already see the transition with "Achtung Baby" and "Zooropa". That's why "All That You Can't Leave Behind" was a welcome change back to their more traditional style for old school fans. "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb" was even better, in my opinion, and the last great U2 album. The following albums just seemed like leftover stuff from previous albums and just wasnt up to standard imo.

The D would not be worse. Replacing Chiarot with Edvinsson is not a downgrade defensively. Offense from defense would be less, but that would be from losing Ghostibehere, not Chiarot. And I am not a Chiarot hater, but that 4+ whatever it is he is making could be better spent, IMO. And the biggest loss will be at F. Sprong's 18 goals/43 points and Kane's 20 goals/47 points (75 points pro rated for a whole season) and Perron's 17 goals/47 points are not going to be replaced by Berggren and bringing up a couple of kids. If trading down in the first allows me to free up some cap space to bring back proven offense, that's better than drafting a kid who wont be on the roster for 3-4 years anyway if he pans out at all.

I would be ok with that. I only need to shed the payroll to make it work. Copp's 3 years at 5.6 per would be harder to trade. I only chose Chiarot because he would give the biggest cap relief out of Holl, Petry, and Maatta.

Unpopular GM plan: Trade 15th and Chiarot for a late teen or 20s pick. Use savings to re-sign Kane, Perron, and Fischer at 10 million. Bring up Kasper, Edvinsson, and either Mazur or Soderblom. 3 roster spots, less than 3 million spent. Leaves 21 million (if my math is right) to re-sign RFAs: Seider. Raymond. Veleno, Berggren, Johansson 2024 roster: 1st F line: DeBrincat-Larkin-Kane 2nd F line: Fabbri/Berggren-Compher-Ray 3rd F line: Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer/Perron 4th F line: Fabbri/Berggren- Veleno- Mazur/Soderblom/Kasper 1st D: Walman-Seider 2nd D: Edvinsson-Holl 3rd D: Maatta-Petry 7th: Johansson G: Husso/Lyon And if Yzerman can squeeze blood from a turnip: re-sign Reimer and demote Husso to GR.
