That could def be an option.

Finland is not part of Scandinavia.

I never said Copp or Chiarot were going anywhere or even advocating for a buyout. I was simply listing options and candidates for those options. Also, do you think Copp is overpaid for his role or not? Copp makes too much to just be a shutdown center. You don't pay a guy over 5 mil a season just to take defensive responsibilities from Larkin. I can be critical of Copp's role vs salary, that doesn't mean I want to see the 6 years of cap hit buying him out would cause. And Husso's injuries were most likely soft tissue. Muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries are very susceptible to re-aggravation. That is a concern for a position that relies so heavily on lower body maneuverability. I would not be at all surprised if he re-injures something in pre-season. That would then make LTIR an option if that happened.

Husso had multiple lower body injuries last season. He had one in December, came back in February only to suffer another one. Then he had another setback during his conditioning stint in April in GR. I think you can understand how important a healthy lower body is to a goaltender. And a goalie who has suffered multiple injuries in the lower body is very concerning, especially considering how easy re-injury is. Nothing heals "as good as new". And I am very well aware that "hockey isn't all about points". But if you think that Copp was signed to make almost 6 million dollars a season, for 6 seasons, to be a bottom 6 checking forward, then "you lost all credibility right there".

Why? This is the best convo all summer.

He would cost another roster spot that we have 5 kids NHL ready for.

Copp can be replaced on the checking line by Motte. And Veleno's arbitration window opens up another buyout period if Yzerman needs to free up some more cap space. Per Puckpedia: If a team has a player go to arbitration and it is either settled or awarded, the team receives a new 48 hour buyout window beginning 3 days after the arbitration settlement or award. The only contracts that are eligible to be bought out in this window are for player with Cap Hits greater than $4M AND they were on the team's roster at the last trade deadline. This means that on defense, ONLY Chiarot is eligible. And at forward, Copp would be the most likely candidate that is qualified. Also, Husso could be bought out. If Steve wants to use that window to buy out a contract, those are the options. Facts are regarded, I guess. And I don't care what Copp does for the team, there is no way you can justify that he is worth 5.625 million per for the next 4 years. Edit: Petry may also be eligible due to his cap hit being over 4 million, but spread out over more than 1 team.

Because it is an injury that could easily reoccur before the season starts. And Copp could very well be the buyout. He is the least value contract. 5+ million dollars for a 3C, at best. The only other buyout options would be Chiarot or Husso. If Yzerman wants to add to the roster, he is going to need cap space. Waiving Holl, buying out Copp, and placing Husso on LTIR all accomplish that. Unless you think this team is great the way it is, then sure, let's do none of those things.
-
Husso could be LTIR and Copp could be the buyout candidate. Holl cannot be bought out, but could be sent down, which will save $900k from the cap and allow Johansson and Edvinsson to stay up. There is no way the season starts with 8D and 3G. At least one has to go.

That just means they all natural.

And you are forgetting that GMs are human beings with long memories. If you don't think reputation matters, than ask anyone in ANY profession if they want to work with someone that has a bad rep. They don't. That is how the real business world works.

Oh, what a feeling... When he takes you on the ceiling..

2nd. Right behind Edvinsson. Right before Danielson.

Damn. You could park an SUV in that cleavage.

Dude, he is already one of their moderators.

So you are that saying that our HC and GM, whose jobs are to win, are deliberately playing lesser, weaker players over more talented players? Not buying it.

Offersheeting other team's players is just a bad idea. First, you are just asking for someone to do the same thing to you down the road. Second, good luck ever trying to make deals thereafter with the team you screwed over. That is a burnt bridge. And third, you just stained your reputation as far as other GM's go. You are only making your job more difficult going forward. That's why SMART GMs don't do that.

Savoie was just not that good. Middle 6 ceiling. Stock dropped since drafted.
