This team needs to get bigger on the wings not smaller especially if they have any playoff aspirations. You cant have Raymond, DeBrincat, Kane, Berggren, Motte, Hoglander/Savoie on the wings if you want to have success in the playoffs. Ras and Veleno are more valuable to this team in a bottom 6 role then either those players imo.

Bad trade for a rebuilding team. Miller contract isnt great. Hoglander sucks. If were trading Danielson it better be for a much younger target like Cozens. How much would it cost to get Provorov out of Cbj?

Compher, Kiiskinen, 1st (top 10 protected) for Cozens. Who says no?

Larkins a top 20 center overall and in FO%. He might transition to wing later in his career but hes far from that at this point. Compher would have to be part of a Cozens trade. Both have similar production over the past 1.5 seasons. Cozens is 6 years younger and has potential to get back to 60-70pt C he was 2 seasons ago. Comphers $2m cheaper. Compher + mid prospect/high pick should get it done. No thanks on Savard. Id rather go after Provorov or the dream scenario Nikishin.

So you think Danielson will be better then Cozens? Im skeptical but Id love for Danielson to prove me wrong. To answer my own question above I think Cozens is closer to that 0.8 pts/g then hes playing at right now. If everything goes right for Danielson hes that player. Everything rarely goes right in player development which is why wed have to add.

Is Danielson's best case Cozens? Do we think he can get to that level? or beyond? What is Cozens? Is he the 0.8 pts/g player he was 2 seasons ago? Or is he the 0.5-0.6 pts/g player hes been the past 1.5 seasons? What would it cost to get him? Danielson + what?

The last thing this team needs is more small wingers. No thanks on Savoie and Hoglander. Sergachev would be a great addition. Can Yzerman acquire him again? What would it cost? Either way Yzerman needs to make another big swing Debrincat level trade again. Cozens isnt redundant if 1 of our centers is going the other way - Compher and/or Danielson.

The Canes are desperate for a G right now with Andersen and Kochetkov out. Nikishin may be pretty close to untouchable but if theres any way we could pry him out of Carolina thatd be a huge addition. Assuming hes planning on coming over next season Id offer Lyon and a 2025 1st (top 5 protected) plus a couple other mid assets. Nikishin-Mo / Ed-ASP would be the best top 4 in the league for the next decade with Cossa/Augustine in net wed never get scored on.

Losing Walman hurt. There are 20 Maattas every year in free agency. That was a good trade imo. Andrew Gibson might be as good as Alec Regula some day. another dime a dozen prospect. We also got Jesse Kiiskinen in that trade and hes currently the top u20 scorer in Finlands top league.

Holl is better then people gave him credit including d!cknose Gustaffson is terrible 5v5 pp he just sucks. Mo and Ed should run each pp unit. AJo should be in the lineup over at least 3 other dmen. Cant wait for this team to get much younger in the next 2 seasons. Replace Copp, Kane, Senko, Fisch, Motte, Watson with Danielson, Mazur, Lombo, MBN, Sodabomb and Chia, Holl, Petry, Gus, Maatta with ASP, AJo, Wally, Buium, and Husso, Talbot with Cossa. This team is gonna **** sh!t up.

Exactly what every team wants their top prospects exposed to early in development - handed a spot on a losing team. Noone would argue that Kasper is better then Motte Danielson is better then Fischer and ASP is better then Petry but its not about this season its about longterm development. Is it better for them to get 10 mins a night bottom of the lineup no special teams on a losing team or 20 mins a night top 6 all situations on a winning team?

Chiarot isnt terrible but playing way over his head. As a 3rd pair d I think hed be serviceable. Petry sucks. Holl is and has been better for over a year now despite the mis-usage.

Id rather see Mazur-Kasper-Berggren. Edvinsson-Holl has been our best d pair the last 2 games imo. Johansson has looked good too.

Unlikely Watson agreed for cap purposes. He was assigned to Grand Rapids mightn report there but hes still getting the AHL salary of the 2way while hes not on the Wings roster. weekly salary in DET- $14.9k weekly salary in GR- $3.8k

Remember when Yzerman traded Drouin for Sergachev? He should pull the same heist for another big Russian dman Alexander Nikishin. Imagine a top 4 of Nikishin-Seider/Edvinsson-ASP. Filthy. What would it take to get him?

You cant read to much into preseason games but if Kasper continues playing like he has in the first 2 games he has to make the team. Both games hes played with most of the top guys and both games hes been the best player on the ice. He can create plays out of nothing and seems dangerous every time he steps on the ice. Of course he needs to convert on more of these chances but thatll come.

Forgot to mention Mazur. Next to Kasper he was the most impressive imo. Both continuing what they did in the playoffs last season.

All 3 of the top line looked good, although Id like to see Cat swapped for Tarasenko. Edvinsson looked good. Outside of the expected Kasper was the best player on the ice. He might not be elite at anything but he does everything at a high level. skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting, forechecking he can do it all. I think hed look great on Larkins wing along with Ray as well. Lombardi and Johansson showed flashes. I liked what I seen from Soderblom. Finnie continues to impress as a late rounder. Im as high as anyone on MBN but he didnt stand out liked Id hoped. Hoping for a better showing next game.

In other words give up nothing /get something in return for our cap dumps and give up nothing of significant value for a top pairing dman and also get the team to retain half salary? More realistic: to EDM : Justin Holl, 2025 2nd Round Pick to DET : Furture Considerations to VAN : Ville Husso (50% retained), 2025 3rd Round Pick to DET : Furture Considerations to ANA : Shai Buium, Carter Mazur, 2026 2nd round pick to DET : Cam Fowler Most of us probably wouldnt do any of those trades which is probably why Yzerman hasnt made any of the trades so many have been clamoring for. Other teams dont want our scraps and were not getting top of the lineup players for scraps.

Trey Augustine Edvinsson and Danielson seem low to me. Are there really 28 NHL prospects ahead of Edvinsson? Are there 6 goalies ahead of Cossa? How would others rank our prospects?

All 3 combined are likely to be under $25.5m. Yzerman making a lot of dumb people look real dumb right about now. Negotiations are a grind and theres no gm Id trust more then Stevie when it comes to rfas. ufas are another story but even those contracts shouldnt hinder the team longterm. Wings are in real good shape going forward thanks to the man with the plan.
