Define 'big $$$' and 'goal scorer'...I guess neither...Last legit guy that comes to mind was Shanahan, but he was a legit trade. EDIT - Hossa (1 season) and DeBrincat.

I'll be shocked if both Marner and Yzerman would entertain the idea of Marner joining the Red Wings. But no - I don't believe he'd wear Vladdy's number. -
I wouldn't mind the offense that Marner brings, but I have my doubts he'll want to be in Detroit.

Blashill and Lalonde (especially Lalonde) set this club back a few years...Not claiming Yzerman's free agent signings have been real gud (average at best overall) and the trades with the Blues have been more or less unfulfilling. McLellan has seemed to be getting solid performance outta this team thus far...Barring any significant injures, or brain fart losing streaks I think the outlook is solid for a wildcard spot. April in the D is back! -
I wouldn't mind seeing Lyon sticking around for another 2, or 3 more seasons unless Yzerman feels Cossa is ready to step in next year. Lyon is sure to get a few offers this summer from rivals if Detroit doesn't make a sales pitch by the end of this season.

I'll have to be honest and claim ignorance on why he was sent packing... Mantha - work ethic, injury prone, inconsistent Bertuzzi - malcontent, refused vaccination, wouldn't settle on what Yzerman was offering Hronek - other than being a lil'butthurt when Seider came onboard and was then relegated to #2 D overall - I got nuthin? Hronek was solid for us. -

My only beef is Rasmountain doesn't play to his size, but then again he isn't alone considering this been a concern with the entire team since Blashill and then Lalonde were coaching...Everyone looks better since McLellan took over...Tonight against the Jets will be a good test. -

As much as I'm glad to see Lalonde gone and replaced with an experienced/successful coach in McLellan - I am on the fence as to what to expect, or want for the remainder of this season... Turn s*** around and go on a winning streak where we have a shot at a wildcard spot, or be 'competitive' yet still lose on a nightly basis (which then would beg the question of why was Lalonde replaced if we're getting the same results with McLellan).

1st order of business is for McLellan to get this team to resemble an NHL caliber team...Too many years of subpar performance has us jaded.

Just learned of this 5 minutes ago lol I'm both shocked and happy. Shocked that Yzerman did something and happy it is someone with a successful NHL pedigree.
