Normally I'd expect 90 plus pts as well for that paycheck - however that financial albatross is sumthin I could see Vancouver wanting to part ways with...This is why I'd offer not much in return since one can argue the value of his contract. To me - regardless of his cap hit - would he make this team better - and would we possibly rid ourselves of some undesirable contracts too by sending them packing to Vancouver? According to many at HF Boards ASP is a bonafide star in the making...Forgive my ignorance, but is any 1 of the top 3 players projected to do much at the NHL level? And they owe us 'future considerations'.....

As a Wings fan I'd certainly entertain that offer as long as we can send as little as possible in return (as in quality players, prospects, draft picks). If he could center our 2nd line and provide 60 some plus pts he might be worth it.

With this draft apparently being rather average at best our 13th overall pick might be worth packaging up to acquire a quality player from a rival who may be facing cap crunch.

While I don't have any problem if Yzerman signs him (if fact I hope he does - stirs some off-season excitement) - makes ya wonder what the brass is thinking about Cossa (and to a lesser extent Augustine).

The availability and scrutiny surrounding Pettersson in itself sorta telltale sign of 'run away'...His on ice performance has been erratic these past few seasons and it's been rumored that the Canucks screwed up and traded away the wrong guy (JT Miller) and it should have been Pettersson getting shipped out (locker room drama). Sending Larkin to Vancouver for Pettersson would be a big mistake.

Serious note - I'm glad DBoss expressed his opinion on the matter...Ever have that boss that's an idiot, f***s people over in order to make themselves look good, micromanages? That's probably what DBoss is feeling in Detroit...The best player on the team, the Captain, shouldering the responsibility of keeping that sinking ship afloat with the mixed crew that Admiral Yzerman has given him...Some good, some so so, and some bad. Both Larkin and Yzerman need to share the accountability here.

Sure is! I think the asking price for the Marner camp could possibly vary depending upon his upcoming performance in these playoffs.

I'll be shocked if both Marner and Yzerman would entertain the idea of Marner joining the Red Wings. But no - I don't believe he'd wear Vladdy's number.

I wouldn't mind the offense that Marner brings, but I have my doubts he'll want to be in Detroit.

Blashill and Lalonde (especially Lalonde) set this club back a few years...Not claiming Yzerman's free agent signings have been real gud (average at best overall) and the trades with the Blues have been more or less unfulfilling. McLellan has seemed to be getting solid performance outta this team thus far...Barring any significant injures, or brain fart losing streaks I think the outlook is solid for a wildcard spot. April in the D is back!

I wouldn't mind seeing Lyon sticking around for another 2, or 3 more seasons unless Yzerman feels Cossa is ready to step in next year. Lyon is sure to get a few offers this summer from rivals if Detroit doesn't make a sales pitch by the end of this season.

Anyone interest you? I've seen some suggest Ryan O'Reilly...2 years left under contract...Getting a little old, but might be useful.

I'll have to be honest and claim ignorance on why he was sent packing... Mantha - work ethic, injury prone, inconsistent Bertuzzi - malcontent, refused vaccination, wouldn't settle on what Yzerman was offering Hronek - other than being a lil'butthurt when Seider came onboard and was then relegated to #2 D overall - I got nuthin? Hronek was solid for us.
