    2019 Draft

Following this list, I'd draft Cozens at 6 and then figure out a way to trade in to the bottom 5 there and take Spencer Knight. But who knows, G's don't usually go in the 1st, so we may be able to get him with our 2nd.

Well, then trade Holland the #6 so he can "reach" for Broberg and get back the #9 and a young asset or 2nd round pick.

Didn't Hall play his junior in Windsor? That means Yzerman will sign him come UFA.

Jacob Trouba will be a Red Wing soon!

    2019 Draft

I'd actually be pretty damn happy if they drafted Caufield. I guess the reality is that there are so many kids that will help us moving forward, can we really go wrong?

    2019 Draft

I still think this could be the homerun pick for someone in the top 10. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2019/06/02/2019-nhl-draft-why-cole-caufield-should-tempt-detroit-red-wings/1312467001/

    2019 Draft

Well this makes the choice easy. Do not draft Podkolzin. I'm drafting a player that if he has a great camp and makes the team, he's staying. Sounds like this guy isn't even planning on attending any prospects or training camps.

    2019 Draft

IMO, if Byram or Cozens aren't there at 6, that's when I make a trade. Not unless we feel that Caufield is going to continue his scoring prowess. I, of all people, realize that just because you light up jr's, doesn't mean you'll slight up the NHL....re: Tippett.
  9. You trade for him now, so you can take advantage of one more year of him be younger. Whether he's coming here one way or the other, why wait until he's a year older? Trade for him, sign him for 8 years starting now or wait and sign him for 7 years when he's a year older. I make the trade and have a younger Trouba.
  10. Yes I would. Datsyuk may not be out of the league much longer.
  11. No. CRL, No.9, that is the reference. But even though it is in black and white that Yzerman has called about Trouba and Winnipeg is interested in picks, he still says it'll take the sky to get him. It won't. He will be very surprised at what little is costs to get him. Remeber when Ottawa was going to get a King's ransom for Karlsson? Well, we see how that turned out. Winnipeg better accept what they can now, because one more year, Trouba will be in the EXACT same spot as Karlsson, except less points, Norris Trophies and All World Accolades. But ya, it'll cost all our core plus 16 1st round picks.
  12. Hmmmm, so Winnipeg has inquired about draft picks. Strange, seems a certain user on here seems to think they won't accept anything less that parts to win now. I'd give them the #6 for sure for Trouba. What guy? It's an article saying that Yzerman is indeed interested in Trouba and Winnipeg has inquired about our draft picks. We're gonna have two 1sts probably next year in a deeper draft. We can afford to deal our #6 for a true #1 defender, who will positively sign a long term deal here. It may even be a sign and trade. Get it done.
  13. You have to start somewhere. You need some big time vets, you cannot go with all kids or you'll be Edmonton. 30 years old is not past prime. We built a team with draft and vets, kept it for 10-20 years, we were doing our best when they were 25-35. You guys have to realize that in order to properly rebuild, you need to acquire talent just as much as you need to draft it. Not saying these two are the answer, but Suter would STILL be our 1A defender for the rest of his contract. You won't find a #1 guy for what his Cap hit is. Not even Trouba wil have a cap less than $8M.
  14. Changing gears for a moment, would you entertain a trade for Zucker and Suter out of Minny. Zucker has been on the block for a couple seasons and there have been rumblings out there about Minny could possibly trade Suter. He probably wouldn't waive to come here though.

    Don't blame him.
  16. Once in awhile, I forget who I'm dealing with here. You're right CRL. Winnipeg will get the #1 pick from Jersey, McDavid from Edmonton and Mathews from Toronto in a 4 way trade. Look at the haul Karlsson at 27 brought! Man that was way overpayment! Ottawa fleeced them! It's time for a break. Thanks number9, for putting all on the right path. Not sure where we'd be without your insight. Larkin, AA and Zadina for Trouba.
  17. Here's the translation. From this day forward, Hronek nickname will be Hippopotamus.
  18. It's going to cost far less than you naysayers are thinking. Whomever trades for him. But he's not signing long term unless it's a serious TOP contender or it's Detroit.
  19. All are going to be surprised at how little it's gonna cost. Just have to go back to Erik Karlsson.
  20. Arbitration Eligible... https://www.capfriendly.com/arbitration-calculator/2019/WPG
  21. Take a look at capfriendly Winnipeg page. Despite having a lot of cap, Laine is taking about $11M of it. They want to re-sign Myers, plus they have a good amount of players that are key guys that they need to re-sign. I'm sure they'd love to re-sign Trouba, but they want to underpay him and long term. He doesn't want to be a Jet long term. That's quite obvious. Winnipeg will be ready to move on from him if they cannot come to a long term deal. They better take what they can get, or they'll get less in a year, then nothing come July 2020.
  22. He is not going to sign a bridge deal. That day has come and gone. If he is not traded, he will go to arbitration AGAIN, get a 1 year deal AGAIN and leave as a UFA in 2020. Winnipeg must get something for him. No One is giving up significant pieces for a 1 year guy who wants to play closer to home. To me, that puts Yzerman in the driver's seat, he's getting him one way or another, Winnipeg best take the draft picks.
