12/18 What Doesn't Kill You GDT - Red Wings @ Flyers - 7:00 PM ET
LeftWinger replied to Dabura's topic in General
Jimmy emergency scratch, flyers to provide Bernier backup? Wonder what's up. -
quick fun bit of info about draft picks. Obviously we all know Fedorov was drafted 4th round 1989, most of us know we tried to draft Bure in the next round, but paperwork scabuffle screwed that up. Imagine if you would, in 1988, instead of drafting Sheldon Kennedy near the end of the 4th round, we pick Alex Mogilny instead (who went shortly thereafter to Buffalo) and still drafted Feds and was able to draft Bure! That was the famed Red Army line in Russia that rivaled only the KLM line. We would've had the best line in the world, let alone in the NHL! Ok, now back to 2018.

12/15 Disappointment Viewing GDT - Red Wings @ Islanders - 7:00 PM ET

hype? -
He was a 1st round pick. But I think folks are trying to act not excited about him, so they can be surprised when/if he succeeds. I say stuff it, hype, hype and away!
-
Nah, that bum was drafted in the THIRD round.
-
But I would listen to trades for that #6-10!
-
Sometimes I defy logic! Nevermind, I will just go with a top 6-10 2019 and a #1 OA 2020.
-
3 gets us Hughes, Broberg and your boy.
-
I used the #10 as an example of where they might fall on average. Maybe it's #30, doesn't matter. I was just looking to get a pick back in return. Would it be better if I said swap the 2019 1st rounders with Vancouver, still with the guarantee to have #1 in 2020? Risk it to make the biscuit. It was just a suggestion saying that Vancouver would love to try and get the Hughes brothers together and we'd still get a franchise player in 2020.
-
We cannot recall Veleno at all, he is NOT under contract with us. Guhle is currently under contract with Buffalo. If Veleno signs a contract after WJC, then yes, we can recall him. Not being under contract means he would not be paid...

You are not understanding me, or even your own question I think. You asked if we'd take the #1 overall in 2019 or the #1 overall in 2020 if it meant picking from 6-10 in the other draft. If I am getting the 2020 1st for sure, I'd trade the 2019 lottery pick in order to get a 2nd 1st round in 2020. I understand that it may be 2nd-31st, but it's still a 1st rounder, and considering that, the other team would probably need to give me players as well. But when comes down to you question, like I said above, I'd choose to pick 6-10 in 2019 and have the #1 in 2020 as opposed to Jack Hughes this year and 6-10 next year. But really, I'd love to have either or, if we were going to get a #1 in 19 or 20 for sure, I think all of us would be ecstatic! Sadly, reality says we'll be drafting 6-10 (or maybe even 16-24) most likely both 19 and 20. But, your question straight up: 6-10 in 2019, #1 in 2020 is my choice.
-
I'd, as well as everyone, would be a ecstatic with either, but I would choose 2020 over 2019. Natural winger vs. Natural center. That's the only reason. I know it's not part of your question, but we could possibly get both #1's! Wow! Of course I'd hate to see our payroll in 4-7 years!
-
It doesn't matter. I'm trading our 2019 1st for a guaranteed #1 overall in 2020 (in your scenario) I'm not even getting a top 10 in 2019, but I may have 2 others after reading Nyquist and Howard. I just used #10 for Vancouver as an example, maybe it'll be #27, who knows, who cares, I have the lottery 1st over all in that same draft. Or maybe I swap 2019 1st round picks and still have the 2020 #1. Or, yes, even if there was no trade involved, I'd be perfectly happy with getting #6 this year and #1 next. Not that we would not be in great shape if those were reversed either.
-
Right, but the OP was whichever 1st you keep you win the lottery. So I get the #1 in 2020 and Vancouver #10, let's say all for trading our 1st to Vancouver for a chance for them to get the 2nd Hughes.
-
I go for 2020. I trade our 2019 1st to Vancouver for their 2020 1st. They'd love a shot at Hughes x2, I'd then have 2 top 10 picks in 2020 including one of which is Alexis, the legit sniping winger we need!
-
Hypothetical, lets say Nielsen waives his NMC/NTC to go back to The Island, what would you expect in return? They have very little draft picks this year to offer.

12/8 Window or Isle GDT - Islanders @ Red Wings - 7:00 PM ET

Pitt and St.Louis bidding war forthcoming! Nyquist is on fire! He should be dealt before he cools to get maximum return! How about a package of Howard and Nyquist to a team for ultimate return! -
Holland, don't even think about!
-
I still say bring The Whalers back! There are a lot of whales that are in Puget Sound our near Seattle itself.

12/6 Trying GDT - Ref Wings @ Maple Refs - 7:00 PM ET
LeftWinger replied to Dabura's topic in General
Well then you have three more seasons after this one before he is "ditched." So it's gonna be a while until his spot is open. Apologies, using the term "ditch a player" usually means dealing him away, especially when they still have most of their contract left. -
IF this team keeps playing the way they are, they are going to find themselves in the playoffs, which pretty much eliminates us from being sellers, but I hope it does not turn us into buyers. Playoffs or not, I hope that we sell off at least Jimmy and Nyquist for high picks or prospect(s.) We can always revist re-signing them in July, but they may BOTH be looking for significant raises, which I hope we DON'T give them.

Dekeyser will probably never be traded. I do not have a narrative, that's the liberal media. -
Nobody is stocking my wife's suite with anything unless that suite is in the afterlife. But I am flattered that you are thinking of her! Thanks!

Huh? Aged? I don't care if anyone responded or laughed about it. I hope you're aging well. I was talking with another fan on twitter after that game, he said he hopes Hronek gets the call, I said ya, but knowing Holland it'll be Lashoff. Joking of course, but I'll be damned if he didn't stay true to form. He's horrible. I hope Seattle really does hire him and soon! -
SMH.
