    Henrik Zetterberg has Retired

I don't recall saying that for 3 years. Kronwall maybe, Z, I don't think so. It's time to move forward. At least he'll probably still be around the team in an "advisory role."

    Henrik Zetterberg has Retired

I told you. The way people in the know we're talking just didn't sit right. They always talked about his back and his surgery, but never did they sound so positive that he might be done. Never did they put out there that he may not play again. It's over. And dispute it all you want, the amount of money Larkin got had Everything to do with Z's health. They found out behind closed doors and then gave Larkin more money. I am positive that there was two deals on the table. With Z and without. Anyhow, thanks for the years Z! You were one of the best! #40 to the rafters!
  3. I can dig it. But Igor has to be in there somewhere! Great hockey mind!
  4. I know he wants the challenge of rebuilding Detroit, but what's more challenging than building a team from scratch? I think Holland would jump at the chance.
  5. If Seattle gets their team by next season, Yzerman will be our GM for the 19/20 season.

Pretty underwhelming return. I'm thinking we could've matched that. I wasn't for trading for him, but the equivalent of that return would've been fine in hindsight. I really don't think this puts San Jose over the top. I think Karlsson will be pretty disappointed out there. Guess we hope he does not sign there and we get a shot at him in July. 29 other teams have to be Shaking their heads at that return...PLUS no Bobby Ryan.

    Rumors Thread

I think Dallas is drooling over the opportunity to reunite Karlsson and Methot. They have a smidge over $5.3M in cap space, but will they have to take on Ryan's contract as well? If so, they'd need to clear cap! PLUS with the rumored Seguin extension of over $9.5M, they'd need to be careful on Karlsson's extension as well!

I feel for the guy. I have yet to fully move on from my loss, but thank Goodness for my son's, my friends at work and all of you guys here who have reached out to me. If I had to face my demons everyday alone, I too, may have gone down a dark path. It makes me so happy to see this guy start over and attempt to leave his former self in the past. I cannot say that I know what its like to be addicted to drugs and alcohol, but I do understand the depression. each day gets a little better for him, and myself actually. I think I am going to start following him and his story a lot closer. Thanks for putting the story up here @Wheelchairsuperhero.
  10. Sock? Can't say I know what that term means, but ya, I am just taking the fantasy route! I do believe he will be our GM by this time next year though. Nah, Helm is going to Seattle with Holland. He will be their Captain. Holland will give us a 1st round pick for him! (ok, just joking about that.)

I certainly hope its NOT us!!!!
  12. @krsmith17 Yzerman was only born out there, he grew up in Ottawa until he "grew up " here.
  13. Which is EXACTLY what I eluded too! He will be catching plenty of games at the LCA, assessing the team and getting ideas on how he can make the team better, when he becomes GM. Leadership is in his blood. He will most definitely have ideas and be playing armchair GM (like we all do) when it comes to "HIS" team. I cannot wait for him to take over. Holland has done very well in recent years, but he will take the Seattle franchise and build it from the ground up. Isn't Holland from Western Canada anyhow? I believe he is a BC boy. That's pretty close to Seattle. It's time. Holland will step aside after this season and Yzerman will take over, with Draper as his Asst. GM. And as an added bonus, Yzerman WILL recommend that #91 be retired. Since Marion loves him so much, she will let by-gones be by-gones. He will employ Lidstrom (the REAL Swedish Don) to "convince" Karlsson to sign in Detroit come July. I cannot wait for his shrewd deals next summer! This TDL, Holland will be making deals that he and Yzerman have discussed "off the record." Holland will deal Nyquist and Daley to Tampa for their Stanley Cup run. Coming to Detroit will be Cal Foote and Taylor Raddish. Tampa will win the Cup, Yzerman will get his name on it again, then be our official GM before the draft. Yzerman to the GM, Fedorov to the rafters! Stanley Cup by 2022. Oh, and Darren Helm will be the first Captain in Seattle.
  14. He will still be an advisor for Tampa, but he will also spend a ton of time as a "fan" of our team, watching all the home games as a "guest" of The Ilitch's from their private suite, "getting to know" our (soon to be his) players. This IS happening. Yzerman will be drafting Jack Hughes and signing Erik Karlsson to Detroit come summer.

Well that was fast! Guess Patches wanted to stay in Vegas! In local news, Matt Puempel has re-signed with us. 2 years, 675K per.

I like that #1 line! Come October, just replace Veleno with Larkin and we'll watch some stars shine!

not sure if you guys realize the puns you are using! @krsmith17 said he refuses to "bet" against Vegas @e_prime said they're still rather "flush" intentional or not, its pretty funny!

...speaking of Suzuki, I'd take Ryan Suzuki with one of our high 2nds this draft. But that is a different thread! Back to Montreal, with Suzuki now and Kotkaniemi, along with Drouin, they have a pretty good Center lineup for their future.

    2018 Off-Season Trades / Signings / News

Well, with LV's run to the Cup Final last season, they are pretty much in a "win now" situation, which sounds weird when talking about a 2nd year team, but they upgraded from Tatar to Pacioretty, and felt the could afford to sell off Suzuki. Heck, if they are in a win now spot, I'll send them Daley for, hmmmm, I dunno, Hague! Sorry, couldn't resist! But heck, they still haven't signed Theodore...wonder if they want a "win now" player for him? I'd send them Daley and Nyquist! If Holland was able to pull off Daley and Nyquist for Theodore, I'd extend Holland to a life-time contract!

to be noted that the 2nd rounder received by Montreal was one that Vegas got from Columbus along with the 1st round pick they used to draft Suzuki. So basically, in the end, this was a 5 team trade between Us, Vegas, CBJ, NYI and Montreal. Detroit gets: Joseph Veleno, 2019 2nd Round (previously owned by NYI) and 2021 3rd round pick LV gets: David Clarkston (from CBJ) Mikael Grabovski, 2017 1st rounder (Brannstrom) Jake Bishoff (from NYI) and Pacioretty. Montreal gets: Tatar, 2019 2nd (via CBJ) and Suzuki Columbus got Expansion draft considerations as did NYI. Would you have traded an equivalent package to Montreal for Patches provided we could work out an extension.

I think it was a good deal. Suzuki is good, real good actually, but will that translate to the NHL, we will see. At least they got something for Patch.

Cholowski will probably make it. Right now the roster sits at 21. Take away Z and Franzen that leaves room for 4. Zadina, Rasmussen, Hronek, Cholowski. If Svech tears it up, it could spell the end of Frk. Or maybe, Kronwall doesn't make it out of camp. Or too far into the season.
