I think no one is mentioning it because they don't want it to happen. But, as negative as it could be, let's look at the positives that could come from it. Larkin would take over as our #1 guy, he would play all the important minutes and become the elite player we hope he is. It opens up a roster spot and a ton of cap room. I listed a team before without Z, but tool some slack as I put AA in the #2 C spot, but even if he played Wing or was #3C, I am sure we'd be ok without Z. Well not 100% ok, but we'd survive and move forward with kids. Mantha - Larkin - Zadina Nyquist - Nielsen - Vanek Rasmussen - Helm - AA Abby - Glenny - Bertuzzi I'd love to see Svech and Valeno make the team, but it would take some trades for sure. Maybe 2019 after the TDL.

I've said that if AA would bring us back a top line D, then I'd be fine with him being traded. By Trouba "talk" I didn't mean here, I meant around the league.

I am not so sure about Weber, but if Minny wanted to entertain me with Suter, I'd make a deal for him. Under the same circumstances of him playing out his entire contract.

Honestly I think there are enough centers on this team that is Z did go LTIR, (which BTW we could save up to $6.083M if needed I believe) to replace his roster spot. Larkin, AA, Nielsen, Helm, Glenny. Imagine these two top lines: Zadina - Larkin - Mantha Rasmussen - AA - Betuzzi (or any other combo of those 6) followed by: Nyquist - Nielsen - Vanek Abby - Glenny - Helm

I'll quote myself because I think this will be similar to what happens: If everyone is healthy, and there are no trades I feel the roster would look like this: Zetterberg, Larkin, Nyquist, AA, Mantha, Vanek, Nielsen, Abby, Helm, Glenny, Bertuzzi, Zadina, Rasmussen. (Witko as #14) Dekeyser, Green, Jensen, Ericsson, Kronwall, Daley (Witko as #7) There is just no room for a 23rd player under the cap. Unless Larkin and Mantha surprise us and take a combined $1M to $1.5M less, which would allow Frk to stay.

I know who Z is, and I know you're referring to Zadina as well, but you list Z, ZZ and Z2. Who is Who? AA i s better than a deserves to be in top 6 over Nyquist. Nyquist-Nielsen-Vanek is a great line in the 3rd slot.

There were only 4 regulars that weren't a minus last season. Nobody higher than a +3. Larkin was a -9.

Ya, again, only dominated 1 four game series. First two full years of Franzen...36 points. 22 goals. First two full years of AA...62 points. 34 goals. Give AA linemates like prime Z and Dats, we will see if he can score 30 goals...which Franzen has only done once btw. Anyway, nobody said he was Franzen, but he can take over a game with his explosiveness. Btw, when you're wining 5-0 and barely hold on to win 5-4, that 5th goal is hardly a game winning goal.

I have to disagree. Quite the impressive variety of goals. After watching I am even more glad we re-signed him.

Not saying AA is Franzen, but ease up, Franzen took over ONE series in ONE playoff year, Colorado 2008. He had 9 goals in 4 games that series. But he only had 4 more goals in the other 3 series. Then in 2009, he had 12 goals in 23 games. The other playoffs he was totally invisible. So no, he never took over entire playoff series, one after another for multiple consecutive seasons. He played ONE four game series where he took over. Much like his entire career. 10 goals in 4 games, disappear for 25 games after.

Hicketts, nor Hronek probably will not be here, unless Kronwall goes on LTIR. Witkowski will be both the 14th fwd and 7th D. Waive Frk, sign Zadina, make one of the 4th liners a healthy scratch. That is the only way we're going to see both Ras and Zadina in the opening day line up. Mantha - Larkin - Zadina AA - Zetterberg - Ras Nyquist - Nielsen -Vanek Abby - Helm - Bertuzzi Maybe deal Glenny or Helm away.

we have $6.1M left, add in Franzen's $3.9M and that is $10M Ras - $894k Zadina (ELC soon) $925k Mantha $4M Larkin $5M Frk minus $1M (waived) equals cap ceiling, basement dwelling lottery team. Bring on Jack Hughes. Unless Holland still has a trade in mind, its gonna be a rough year with that D. re: AA signing, its a good fair deal, I am an AA fan and am glad he got signed, but if he could be dealt to bring in Faulk or Trouba, then I am good there too. IF he stays he needs to be in the top 6.

Ok, I don't believe Holland will make deals to open up spots for Ras and Zadina. I too see Nyquist being dealt, but not until the TDL. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against signing AA. But honestly even if we waive Frk, where are the two rookies gonna fit. I really don't see Helm, Abby or Glenny being a healthy scratch. I also don't see Holland making a deal to start the season. We'll see.

There will be no trades. There will be no kids up. Frk will be #13, Witkowski will be both #14 and #7 D. We'll be right up against the cap again. Top paid team and in the lottery. Once again Holland peed down our backs and called it kool-aid. And we all drank it. There was entirely zero sense in signing Vanek, Green and such an expensive back up G if we were going hope to see 2-5 kids on this team this season, like he promised. There is absolutely no reason, nor rhyme, to have Ras and Zadina go back to Jr's. but they will, and the rest will go the GR.

Let's no forget Sergachev will get a huge raise in two seasons. Most of their current D have NTC's and I would be surprised if any of them waive it to go to Ottawa. If Tampa is the front runner, don't know how they'll fit him. I'm sure Foote will be so happy to go to Ottawa as well!
