To Holland's defense, I believe he said that he wanted 4-5 new players on the team including kids. Paraphrasing of course. Ras, Hronek, #6 overall, New goalie, Vanek....maybe.

There goes the juck FRKing Pott... Well that's another spot for a promotion. Kenny has to find room somewhere. I highly doubt Booth is offered a contract either. Unless it's just to play in GR, and be a vet recall when needed.

It's all fantasy anyhow, obviously it's not gonna happen. Maybe we deal with Montreal for the #3. But it may cost more.

I'd take Bobby Ryan's contract off their hands if they throw in PIT's 1st rounder (#22) for their 2nd back and then flip Ryan back to Anaheim for something. Wouldn't matter, maybe future considerations. Anaheim hasn't been the same without him, he hasn't been the same since he was dealt. Could re-ignite Anaheim into a contender and re-ignite Ryan's career...along with Perry's and Getzlaf's.

Hossa's Career Might Be Over Already

It's just been suggested around the internet that they may be willing to do that. I believe a writer for The Athletic had mentioned that they may be interested in offering the #8 to entice a team into taking Hossa. That's all I have to go by. I just merely suggested that if indeed they would be willing to offer the #8 to a team to take the cap away, Holland should be calling.

The Calgary deal is based on the fact that they only have 1 line there. Helm and Svech would certainly put them on the road to having a deeper team up front. The 2019 1st could be a lottery pick again, and that could mean Jack Hughes or somewhere else in the top 10 for them. Chicago is asking teams to take Hossa and they will give away the #8 to a team willing to do so. I know you watched to expansion draft, this is how that kind of thing works. Montreal wants a Center (Kotkaniemi) but they don't want to take him at #3 when they can gain assets and get him a little further down the top 10. Giving them a depth D-man, a nice bottom 6 center AND the #6 where Kotkaniemi will most likely still be sitting, is more than enough to dangle in front of Bergevin. Did you see his latest trade? He'd jump at this in a heartbeat. The Vancouver deal may need to be sweetened up, but there's no doubt they are in need of Offense with the departure of the Sedins. They have some good young talent there to put together with AA and Nyquist. They have Horvat, Boesner, Gaudette along with Petersson and Dahlen in the minors. Adding an electric player like AA to that group would be a great thing. Nyquist, playing with that talent, may also return to his 30 goal form. Plus they get #30 which they could land a pretty good prospect as well. I don't see how all of these trades wouldn't make sense for both sides. Sure, it won't happen because it's just a fan suggesting this, not the Wings themselves, but these would most definitely benefit all.

Hossa's Career Might Be Over Already

Honestly, we don't need to deal any cap away. We have $17M right now, add Franzen's $3.9M, the possible increase to $82M, that is a total of $28M available. No way re-singing Larkin, Mantha and Bertuzzi is going to suck all that cap up. Even if you add a UFA goalie and entertain the idea of re-signing Green. There plenty of room for his $5.275M hit. It is well worth it for the #8 overall. They're practically giving it away to a team who would alleviate them of Hossa. I say it's a no brainer.

Of course, if Hossa stays on LTIR over most of this season, you can always swing him to a cap floor team next summer. Again, if Chicago is willing to toss in the #8 for us (someone) to take Hossa's contract, there is no negative to acquiring him. It is a win-win for sure!

Hey, we got to spice this forum up! Too much politics, too much Hicketts, not enough real chat!
  11. So it seems that the last two seasons of missing the playoffs have caused Superior Fish to go out of business, eh? Not enough Octopi sales I guess! The team and the fans aren't the only one(s) to suffer during this drought! RIP Superior Fish.

Hossa's Career Might Be Over Already

Actually it is a possibility. The cap is rumored to be upwards of $82M this season. If we deal some of our own cap away at the draft, we can most definitely fit his cap hit under. Plus, if he attempts to play, then can't, he goes on LTIR for us. We'd be fine. If Chicago is willing to give away the #8 to a team that will take his contract, Holland has to call them!

I'd take that for sure. He has won a Cup and is Head Coach insurance if Blashill finds himself left on the side of the road. I address how this would work for us in the Draft thread. But not so we get Hossa back, more importantly to get their #8 overall.

That is a funny edit! I want to thank everyone for all the kind words! I am good, I am moving forward, I don't want to talk about it and I NEED this forum to keep my mind going forward! Thanks Again! Here is (are) my (fantasy) trade scenario(s) for draft day: Both Nyquist and AA address the offense and dynamics that Vancouver is in need of. Could very well become 1st line players there. Calgary is in DESPERATE need of another line. They have become a 1 line team, adding Helm and Svech gives them 2/3 making a very good line! To sweetin the deal the 2019 1s round is NOT lottery protected, so they get it no matter where we finish. But we get a #1 in Hamilton, so we're good. Here I take Chicago up on their desperation to get rid of Hossa's contract. I'd give them a couple of mid to later round picks to take his contract and their #8 overall. Worst case scenario, Hossa rides out his contract on LTIR much like Franzen. Best case scenario, he becomes healthy and gets us 15-20 goals a year for a couple of seasons. This eliminates the need to sign either one of Vanek or Kovy. Win-Wn for us and Chicago. (not that I am really into helping Chicago, but I'd piss down their back and call it rain to steal that #8 pick to get Oliver Wahlstrom.) Here is the good one. Sure, at first site, it doesn't look like a great deal for Montreal, but considering they are getting the #6 in return, two good old French Canadian kids to add to the team, PLUS they still should be able to draft the center they need in Kotkaniemi with that #6. So that gives us #3, #7, #8 in the 1st round. With those picks I take #3 - Zadina #7 - Best D Available #8 - Wahlstrom With Larkin as our #1 center, Z will slowly transition out as the #2 over the next couple of season's giving way to Ras. Nielsen will remain #3 for the rest of his contract unless he allows us to flip him to a contender on a future TDL day. I think, even with eliminating the 2019 1st round pick, that sets our rebuild on fire. (BTW, SO glad I was absent during all that political stuff in the other thread! I might be the only one left here when the MODS return!) Thanks again everyone for the kind words! I needed a break from life, but I need to move forward now and I had to get back on here to help keep my life moving on! Bring on Friday! Too bad I'll be working a 16 hour shift that day and will have to rely on my phone for updates! Here's to Holland ripping those tires right off the truck this year!

Nah, that was WAAAAAY before the "pages." I said awhile ago I prefer Bouchard and Dobson over Hughes and Boqvist, and someone said "why? because they are under 6'? Then it also came to their style of play "small and skilled." That's ok, because from here on out, I have reference to the Wings saying they prefer Bouchard and Dobson (the same players I prefer) for the same reasons! It's ok guys, even though your narrative fails on a daily basis, its fun to read your silly trolling! I know you are, but what am I?

What? Are they now Bigots and anti-small finesse player now too? Isn't it strange that I say the same thing and I am a bigot or anti-finesse Euro-Style player, or whatever you want to call it, but its news worthy when someone in the know says it...hmmm, maybe I am on to something, no? They prefer Zadina or Svech? Wow! Everyone in the hockey world says that Svech is the most NHL ready and the closest thing to a superstar in the draft (forwards.) Maybe they prefer Zadina, not only because he is good (is he also a center?) but they want Carolina to draft Svech so they can trade them the other Svech. Imagine this if you could, Wings get Zadina, Bouchard, Dobson AND Wahlstrom! All without losing Larkin or Mantha. Dunno how, but Kenny would be Da'Man! I think the writer is correct though, Detroit will trade the #6 and the #30(31) for the #3 or #4. Maybe offering Ottawa the #6 and their 2nd rounder back, maybe they could swing the #4 and at least get Dobson or Bouchard. Zadina is electrifying, but dang it, if they were going O, I was really hoping to get Wahlstrom….guess we'll see what Kenny does. Then again, there is talk that Carolina will draft Zadina to play along side Necas. I tend to believe that if they do trade up, its to guarantee one of the big D-men.

The #30 is a 1st round pick. Maybe Kip Winger was only 18? I feel silly, this is the absolute 1st time that I am realizing that @kipwinger possibly named himself after Kip Winger. I never even thought of associating the two.
