The........WHAT!??! -
I can see your point there. Maybe as fans we are just too impatient. Maybe, like you said, once Holland provides him with a team that is mostly 25 or under, he will do much better.

IMO either draft a franchise D, or package some players (AA and Svech) along with VEG's 1st and our 2nd and then draft Wahlstrom at #6. My Order of Preference: Bouchard Dobson Hughes Boqvist Odds are Boqvist will be gone, but if he truly has no concussion issues, then he would be a great pick for a franchise D too. So honestly, flip a coin if they are all available at #6. But at least ONE of them will be gone. If we go O, then its Wahsltrom, its a no brainer and there should be no debate at the table. As a matter of fact, the only debate should be do we go D or O. Funny though, I have seen so recent mocks where they have Tkachuk falling to us at 6. So, if the team decides to go with O and BOTH Tkachuk and Wahlstrom are there, which do you take? I admit that because of Tkachuk mostly projecting to be in the top 5, I really don't know as much about him as I do Wahlstrom, but again, I think it would be a coin toss and either one would be a win and on our team this fall... -
For as much as I get on Kenny, to me, its all about the coaching. There is ZERO reason (outside of contract length) that Blashill shoudl still be our coach. He is just not a good NHL coach...it happens. Now he does have sucess with young players, so it would seem that he should be doing better here, maybe there is problem between the coaching and the GM-staff. Babcock sure seemed to NOT like dealing with Holland, maybe there are powers pushing Blashill in their direction instead of his own...dunno. But something is not right. That being said, IMO Abby is not a top 6 player under Blashill, neither is Helm. Nyquist has also been hindered under Blashill, but not because of lack if playing time, maybe its how he is being coached. There is no reason why a player with his skill should not be scoring 30 goals. I am not his biggest fan, but I can respect his talent, and he has shown he can be a pure scorer. RE: Neilsen, when he was centering Nyquist and Vanek, they were ALL doing very well, Neilsen needs scoring wingers to get his points, but right now there is no room at C in the top 6, because they refuse to move Z to the wing. Imagine these lines: Nyquist - Larkin - AA Z - Neilsen - Mantha Bertuzzi - Ras - Frk Abby - Glen - Helm Or you could swap Nyquist and Mantha. I know Z says he feels bored out there when he plays winger (she's only 17! 17!,) but hey, if you want Nielsen to put up points, you can't have him on a line with Helm and Abby. RE: Green and Daley It all depends on who we draft this month, or if we make a trade (which would be awesome,) but I don't think we need Green anymore, and starting this TDL Daley can give a list of teams to Holland, so we may be flipping him for some picks. Also Ericsson can submit a list, but not sure many teams would be interested in him. Also with our kids getting close, I think its time to bring a couple up and lets see what they can do. So on D, either draft a D or trade the pick in a package for a young top D, either way, we NEED to have a young D that will become our #1. Which is why I shake my head when people talk about Kenny drafting another young Center. I don't care how well he has climbed the list, if he is not a franchise center, we don't need him, we have plenty of #2-#4 centers now and on the farm. What we don't have is a future #1 D AND a #1 RH'd scoring sniper...or any handed sniping winger. Not unless Mantha REALLY takes off this year and gets even better. IMO, if we are not drafting one of the D with the #6, then trade AA, Svech and the #30(31) and #35 for a top young available D and a lower 2nd and then draft Wahlstrom. We will still get a great player at #33. So, do you think that a package of AA, Svech, #30 and #35 would get us Hanifin? or is that more along the lines of Faulk? Either one of them would become our #1 guy.

Exactly, unless it's Jack Hughes next season, we don't need to draft a center this high in the draft this year. Don't waste a high pick on a player you don't need! If Holland does, it's SOP and this team is f***ed. Larkin and Ras are going to be your top 2C's...remember the reason we drafted Ras over a pure sniper last draft? Because we needed a center. If we go O again this draft, we cannot pass on a pure sniper again just to add more to the log jam of middling centers.

f*** you NBC sports, you have to remind us of 2009?
-
So, if they'd be interested in the 7th from Vancouver, would you step up and offer them the 6th for Hanifin? Or would you try and get Faulk with a couple of player assets? How about BOTH trades? #6, #36, Svech for Faulk and Hanifin?

Keep drafting players we don't need, kenny...

...and the fact that Wahlstrom is 900,000,000 times better than the Finn. If we go O, it has to be Wahlstrom, not a player we don't need because Liiga. -
Tavares more like 8 years $10.5M per.

Heck if we're going for what we need the least right (or left) now, just draft my boy Liam Kirk with the #6, let's really surprise everyone! -

We all know that Holland is going to do something stupid anyhow, may as well get ready for it. -

He does not fit the bill. We have multiple holes, but ATM defense and scoring RW'er are a more pressing need. Next draft (we'll probably be a lottery team again) maybe we can address the need for a high end center. Right now, they just aren't there for us, especially to waste a #6 on one when the more guarantee (dare I say "no brainer") pick would be one of the D or if O, Wahlstrom. If Holland picks Kotkaniemi, he has a serious screw loose and there would be no doubt he is afraid to make the moves needed to rebuild this franchise. -

No....we do not need another LH'd Center. If Holland drafts him, then it's obviously business as usual. -
This July 1, outside of making a run at JT, there really isn't anyone that I can see Holland signing from outside the organization. And really, this will be one of the first UFA day's that I actually have nobody I am hoping for, of course unless we get JT, but, ya....weird times!
-
Both Patrick Holway and Chase Pearson are at the Univ. of Maine and are doing pretty well for themselves. Holway is a RH'd D and Pearson a LH'd C. Will they earn contracts by the time they near graduation? Dunno, but they are kiddie viddles when it comes to others that we already have under contract, these guys are just two examples of players that should get that ELC, report to GR and see if they can make it! Plus being teammates already, the familiarity should help. Adam Marsh has seemed to regress a bit since he left The Q.

We need a RH'd scoring winger for sure. If they go O, then Wahlstrom has to be the pick. I'd pass on another LH'd C, especially one that isn't projected to be a franchise #1 center. Jesperi may have risen in the rankings, but he is not what we need. We need D and we need a high scoring RH'd winger. If not one of the D talked about throughout this thread, then Wahlstrom. IMO, if they draft Wahlstrom at 6, they'll then be moving some assets for a top line D. I could deal with: 6. Wahlstrom 30(31.) Bokk 33. Samuelsson 36. Addison ...we could then trade AA and Svech to Carolina for a top D. -

Nowhere does it say Rybar scares me. I said Holland being typical could be scary. -
it was so funny going back and reading everyones negative reaction when they drafted Ras....glad I wasn't the only one! It's around page 50 if you wanna relive your guys first reactions!

there is probably a 900,00....nevermind I won't go that high! ...but there is probably a 90% chance that they are picking someone we have no idea of! Barely anyone saw Ras coming last draft, so it could be one of those days! -
I guess the problem are the rankings or the people who rank them then! If that is the case, then Montana Onyebuchi will probably become the best D in this draft class! I don't care who they draft anymore, as long as they draft my sleeper Liam Kirk with one of their late picks...besides, we need a Brit on this team!
