Red Wings Sign Slovak G Patrik Rybar to Entry Level Contract
LeftWinger replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
Not complaining at all, and yes the NA guys fit the bill when it comes to Holland Team Building 101 page 1. It has nothing to do with European players or NA players, its just the mostly unknown player that he seems to always sign. Depth is cool, hopefully this guy doesn't get the raw treatment like some others. -
I have to go with MAF over Holtby...BTW I also need a MAF sensor in my truck.

Remember when The Ducks had Lucy Lawless? I still think that was on purpose MUCH like the Janet Jackson incident which was 100% on purpose! Before the commercial the announcer said, and I quote "When we come back, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and we're told, a special guest." Who do you think the special quest was? Nobody else sang with them!

Red Wings Sign Slovak G Patrik Rybar to Entry Level Contract
LeftWinger replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
Who's to say this isn't the same thing? Poor Macho Man, like I said, sign some relatively unknown to a contract and have zero intention on letting him play or even get a shot. Or in some cases, get a few games and that's all. I know you don't like my metaphor, but page 1 dude. HOPEFULLY Rybar was signed for a purpose and not just for that warm body you speak of. -

So, we're either getting 30 or 31, I bet if someone offers Holland two more 2nds for that 1st he takes it. Montreal has 4 2nds, maybe there will be someone they really want at 30 and they give us THREE of their 2nds for the 1st and XO. They can keep their 2nd and give us the other 3. -
Yes, you are right....i still hate the market. So 9 A's?

Nevermind, I don't realty care. I have said, its not a bad signing and hope he does what he says he is going to do. But that is about as optimistic as I can get. Until the draft and he doesn't draft a D man that he says he doesn't want a team full of, I'll remain cautiously optimistic. If he does? Same old Holland... -

Whats reality? Holland doesn't say things every year only to do different? Please tell me what reality is... -

It's a book or manual about how Ken Holland conducts business. He always starts by signing some no name player to a contract and usually buries that player so deep in the organization the player splits after the contract. Then as the book continues, he does the same things as he always does. I don't have to print it, Holland already wrote it. I am just hoping he signed this goalie for the reason's you guys are saying (out of need) and then continues to write new pages! My point about Hughes/Boqvist was, if after he says "can't have a team full of these players," then does it anyway, is typical Holland saying "change change change" but doing the same thing, like he is, are you sitting down? FOLLOWING HIS SAME OLD MANUAL. I'm Just getting ready for the same old Holland and hoping for something new! I can't believe you guys do not understand my reference. BTW, I am not knocking this goalie at all, competition is awesome considering our current situation. -

if after Ken Holland went on record saying that you can't have a team full of 5'10" d-men, then passes on Bouchard and drafts Hughes or Boqvist, welcome to Page 2! -
I get it, its the market. That's fine, but I just don't like it. Sorry. I too want to lock up both for a long time, I most definitely do NOT want to lose them, I just hate where the market has gone. I guess once we lose contracts like Kronner's, Jimmy's, possibly Nyquist's it'll ease the hit a bit. I just don't want to turn into the Oilers and give these RFA's coming off there ELC's a 900,000,000 percent raise and then they never do any better. But, don't get me wrong, they ALL deserve raises, especially Larkin and Mantha. Even AA had more points than he did the season prior. It's going to be a huge hit on our available cap space, not thinking we have ANY shot at JT this season or Karlsson/OEL next season. Stay in bed until you have something constructive to add to the conversation. Thx!

if we spend over $10M on Mantha and Larkin, we're in deep doo doo. TOO MUCH MONEY! if that is the market, then the NHL is in deep doo doo

Red Wings Sign Slovak G Patrik Rybar to Entry Level Contract
LeftWinger replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
It means just that. It's like this, pretend there is an off season book, and he turned to page 1 as he always does. It could be scary if he turns to page 2 as always or re-writes page 2...etc...i want him to re-write the entire book, but if page 1 is all he uses, cool. If he just turns to the same page 2, we're in trouble. -
Ya Martha Ford is just as bad as her husband was.

Red Wings Sign Slovak G Patrik Rybar to Entry Level Contract
LeftWinger replied to ChristopherReevesLegs's topic in General
Could be a sign that he is going to do the same thing(s) he always does. Depth signing's are good, but its right about now we need a different approach to this team. Doesn't mean he will do the same things as always, but this is the first thing he usually does, signs a player out of some European league that he hopes will be better than he actually turns out to be. Not saying its a bad signing, just saying this is the same thing he does every year, so it could be a scary sign that he is taking the same approach to this year. Which would NOT be good. -
AA - Larkin - Mantha should be a line that stays together. It was also a good line when Frk was on there in Mantha's place. Our coach stinks and we will see a ton more of it this season. No knock on Z, but he should not be relied upon to be our #1 C anymore. Hel, Abby or Glen should NEVER see anywhere NEAR top 6 minutes. But this is not a Blashill BASHill thread. I do believe with the right coach, Mantha will score 30-40 goals, AA would become the complete player we need and Larkin would become the 90 point #1 C. There is ZERO logical reason that any ONE of Mantha, AA, Larkin or Frk should see anything less than top 6 minutes on our team. There is NO process to follow, you play your best players in the best positions and on the best lines and give them the most amount of icetime,

Typical Holland depth signing. Same thing he does every year...which could be a scary sign. -
They'll win The Cup this year and win the draft lottery for the 2019 draft. Jack Hughes to the Knights.

I love AA, but if him in a package brings us Hanifin, f***in A do it! AA, Svech, VEG 1st. (If we still have it.)

If we go Offense, it'll be Wahlstrom. But Holland is gonna trade AA, Nyquist, VEG's 1st our 2020 1st to Vancouver for #7 and get both Bouchard AND Wahlstrom anyhow... -

DD will win Norris this season.

This settles it, we need to get the #7 from Vancouver. Honestly, if he went with Wahlstrom, I don't anyone would be angry. Flip a coin, Bouchard or Wahlstrom. If we're going D, it has to be Bouchard, if we're going O, it has to be Wahlstrom. The question is, how much is one of the teams behind us going to give us to NOT draft Wahlstrom?
