That was my point. It says he chased money instead of winning. Plus bad mouthed us because "we don't pay what UFA's are worth." Has he seen some of the contracts Holland has given?
-
Wiz was the one to publicly say that Detroit doesn't pay players what they are worth. This was back when he was traded to and re-signed by Columbus before he hit the UFA market. I am sure they are glad they paid him "what he was worth."
-
Did i say anything but "whoa.." But, ya, I forgot the recent news, now I get it!
-
@ChristopherReevesLegsWell, I was actually going with the type of attitude Wizzer has, but if you want to troll....
-
Wisniewski also refused to even consider playing for us....what does that say then.
-
What's wrong with his list? He is just ranking D-men. Those top 4-5 look pretty spot on. With the concussion issues, Boqvist still in top 10, don't see any problems. ...and who's to say he's not a scout, nobody knows. Not everyone can be a professional internet troll. You're a very tough act to follow.
-
...and concussion history is not.
-
Yep, clean hit, principle point of contact was shoulder, but you had to figure eventually the NHL was going to massage the balls of Sid and The Divers. Meanwhile they allow him to chop off fingers and throw water bottles at players during play. I don't even know why I watch anymore.
-
I am not judging him, I am simply saying that you have to factor everything in when drafting this high. If he and Bouchard are there, they are equally as good, have equal potential and equally ranked, then something like past concussion issues must factor into your decision on who to pick. For my money, I pick the one with no concussion history. We all feel that we will be a lottery team again next season, but you never know and you may not see a #6 pick again in a long time. FWIW if any of the other 3 top d-men had this history,I would factor that in on them as well. If they all had history and Boqvist didn't, I draft Boqvist.

Kenny in April: We can't have a team full of 5'10 defensemen. We need some RH'd shots back there. Kenny at Draft: With the #6 pick in the draft Detroit Chooses Quinton Hughes. J/K! This would be the old Kenny, is there a new Kenny? WE'LL SEE!!!!! -

We desperately need RH'd shooters in our top 6? Not gonna say it....its over and done. But ya those two would rock! Too bad we'll probably never realize that situation. Maybe Bouchard and Dobson will be gone and Holland deems Wahlstrom BPA. -

Damn! If we could somehow swing that, Wow! I am sure the price would be astronomical though! -
This is funny. Now you guys want Holland to choose a concussion risk over others just to see my reaction? Wow! ...and @Buppy I did say that if for some unheard of reason he was available still at our pick in the 2nd, absolutely draft him. My only concern is if all 4 defensemen are available at 6 I'd hate to take the one with the health risk. I am not saying he is not as talented as the rest, hell offensively he is probably more electric than Dahlin. I am not tearing him down. They all bring something to the table that we need on D. My only thing is, if all four are what you need, you have to look at intangibles that will eliminate them. Need a RH'd D? Hughes out. Three remain, all equally talented. How do you dwindle it down to the one? You have to look at health history along with everything else. Look back over the life of the draft thread, I've never advocated NOT drafting Boqvist. ONLY choosing the best and HEALTHIEST player available. My point about the doctors is, a lot of players that were cleared to play again by qualified doctors ended up being forced to retire/LTIR due to concussion symptoms. That's it. If Holland is told the player is healthy, then that is all he has to go by, medically, but he can, and should use his own judgement especially if there are 3 more equally talented players available. If he becomes a Red Wing and remains healthy for 20+ years, awesome! That is what I'd hope for. Don't get my point skewed. That'd all I'm saying. @marcaractac You bring nothing to this conversation with your trolling, which is against forum rules, so move along.

No. If Bouchard, Dobson or Hughes are there, you take one of those. If Boqvist is the only one left (which means 4 out of 5 takes D, then you take Offense. You cannot use you highest pick in decades on damaged goods.
-
Absolutely!

..and for you too. https://www.si.com/nhl/photos/2013/04/17nhl-careers-ended-by-concussions#8 each and every one of these players were cleared by doctors to play, as was Franzen. ALL were forced to retire/LTIR because of concussion symptoms. You don't have to be a medical expert to know drafting a player with concussion issues already would be a huge risk, whether or not a REAL doctor says he is clear to play. But please, continue to try to troll this thread with your useless input to the conversation. Hockey expert!

I am SO ******* tired of the bigot thing! I am NOT a bigot towards Swedes! If I were I would not have liked Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Samuelsson (the first time around) Monster as our back up, a healthy Kronwall, Zetterberg, Karlsson, Hedman, Sedin twins or OEL. Good ******* lord stop already! Just because I don't like Nyquist and Franzen and for the most part Ericsson (although I gave him many props last season) DOES NOT MAKE ME A BIGOT! I even advocated Dahlin AND Boqvist up until the concussion issues were found out. I just don't think it's be worth the risk, especially if Bouchard, Dobson and Hughes are still there. BTW, it ends careers more than you think, I can't imagine how many careers were ended early back int he day when they didn't know how to diagnose a concussion! https://www.si.com/nhl/photos/2013/04/17nhl-careers-ended-by-concussions#8

I am D first, and my choice is Bouchard first, but not opposed to or would be angry if they took Walhstrom and manufactured a hockey trade for a D man.
-
drafting damaged goods would be a huge risk. Whoever drafts him, I hope it works out for the good. SO many times players with concussion have been cleared to play by doctors only to take another hit and never play again. But there are a few examples of players who have been able to continue, Crosby being one of them. I maintain its a big risk, but for both parties I hope the results are the latter and not the former.
-
Interesting what he said about best player available. Even though he said he has a bunch of wingers already and they will focus on rebuilding the D, he says that if the best player available is a Winger, you draft the winger and move out a player to acquire what you need (paraphrasing.) I know you mentioned this too CRL... I wonder if Wahlstrom or a better winger is there #6, would or could that spell the eminent trade of AA in a package for a D? Hmmmm.....

A lot of mocks I am seeing has Dahlin #1, then 4 straight forwards. If that happens, if we are going D, that'll leave the 4 other top D available to Holland. Boqvist Bouchard Dobson Hughes ...like we've joked about before, even Holland can't screw this up, or could he?
