Yes. Whose shows ownership. Whose house is that? Who's is Who is. To answer both: Who's #1? Talbot will be the #1 goalie. Whose #1? Terry Sawchuk owns the #1.

Edvinsson better impress because as long as he is just ok, and he is the one with waiver exemptions, he'll be sent down. That's the business part of the NHL. Maybe he impresses and gets a spot, but that would either mean 8 D on the roster or Lagesson/Holl gets waived. Yzerman will not waive AJo or Berggren for that matter. They'll either be in Detroit or on another NHL team, neither would clear. Unfortunately, if nobody gets waived or bought out, and if Edvinsson makes the team, I can see 12/8/3 as an opening night roster.

I tend to think now that there's zero chance Raymond or Seider accept 8x8 contracts. If they continue their progression, can you imagine the money they'll leave on the table in 3 years, let alone 8? I'm willing to bet it'll be bridge contracts of 2 or 3 years, BUT it'll still be upwards of $8M per. We're screwed.
-
Unless Seider and Raymond are giving team friendly deals there has to be a buyout, trade or something. There's only $17M left. If you're giving those two at least $16M of it, then there's not enough money left to sign Berggren and keep Johansson up and also possibly keep another kid up. There's just not enough cap.
-
So, since there was no arbitration awarded, do we still get another buyout? Or are we going to be a cap ceiling borderline playoff team?

Hypothetical trade... Columbus is looking to move Laine, they are fine with retaining salary. They also aren't looking for immediate NHL impact in return, BUT we do have Berggren to offer up. The return is rumored to be only picks, prospects. Here's the trade: to DET : Patrik Laine (50% retained) $4.35M cap hit to CBJ : Berggren, 2025 2nd, 2026 3rd, Justin Holl (since we need to clear some cap, plus they only have 6 D signed.) This actually saves CBJ $1M before signing Berggren. Which you would think he wouldn't cost more than $2M, so they'd only be $1M more towards the cap than having Laine's $8.7M. At the moment they have $17M in cap space, so they'd still have $16M-ish after the deal. They get a 6/7 NHL D-man, they get and 2nd and a 3rd, plus they get an NHL ready top prospect. We get another offensive weapon in our top 9. Something would still have to be done with Husso, unless Seider and Raymond will be doing bridge team-friendly deals.

Speaking of.... Sprong to Vancouver 1x975k per Friedman

IMO this has shades of Zadina contract all over it. "Here's the contract you wanted, play up to it, or you'll be gone."

Veleno signs 2 year $2.28M AAV. Not bad I guess. But if the big 2 take $16M+ there has to be a buyout or trade. https://x.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/1814392373436399702?t=Q-lf2auciQVjzgC6zrGO0g&s=19

Maybe for the buyout period? Maybe they'll be a buyout and a trade? But I agree, unless they're gonna cost you more than $19M, what's the reason it's not done yet...

https://x.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/1813644492924444873 Drury 24 years old C, played in 74 games - 27 points Veleno 24 Years Old C, played in 80 games - 28 points I can see this as Veleno's contract too....

I bet as soon as Trouba's wife's residency is done, he's a Detroit Red Wing. I'm going with 3. Danielson, Edvinsson and Johansson. Get it done! Also, we sign Truscott.
-
If he becomes a 50 pt. player, we got him at a deal for $3.2M the 4 years!
-
Speaking of one injury away. This better not be it for the offseason. Ugh...

So St. Louis has a logjam at D, rumor has it Krug (if he'd waived his NTC) is likely to be the one to go. Would you take him for 50% retained salary? He's 33, with 3 years left, but could make the left side better in the short term. And at $3.25M it wouldn't break the bank. This would require Legassen to GR and Holl waived as well. Making the D look like this: (plus I also bought out Husso) he had 40 points on a (just as) bad St. Louis team.

https://www.facebook.com/share/oPQxuXpfpEo1Bmm5/?mibextid=oFDknk I like Bourgault, Ottawa is getting better! Could've been a nice addition.

Buyout Husso, waive Holl.
-
If there aren't going to be anymore trades (hopefully there still is one in the works!) here is my opening night roster. BTW Puckpedia has really stepped it up! I like them better than capUNfriendly already! The even have to reserve list of players that aren't signed yet!

Here's something to think about, we're paying Petry $2.3M, but his actual contract is about $6.2M if you count everyone that is paying him. Maybe that would qualify for a buyout considering he actually does make more than $4M. Make Holl your 7th D. re Husso, just buy him out if you can't trade him. We cannot do this 3 goalie thing again. If there's an injury, then we have Campbell to call up. NEVERMIND the Petry buyout! Here's what'll it cost because YES he does still count at $6.2M It'll cost more on the cap to buy him out than to keep him! Just buyout Husso and waive Holl or something.
-
Nothing. Do not want.
-
I honestly would trade Veleno in a package for McGroarty. I am not sure if that can be done pending arbitration, but that would be ideal. Husso HAS to be bought out, and a D has to go.

Here's Husso buyout info: We also need to remember that (D) Jacob Truscott will become UFA in August since he isn't signing with Vancouver.

I hope Yzerman isn't done for the summer. The D and G situation has to be taken care of.
