You don't trade AA. He is the most dynamic player on this team since Pav. You don't trade him, Larkin or Mantha. Not for Trouba. The only way we get Trouba is if Winnipeg has a glaring need for a goalie or an established 25-30 goal scorer. If they're asking for one of those three, I'm not getting Trouba.

There is always a buyout period for teams, but there's the 2nd if a player elects arbitration. Larkin and Mantha are not arbitration eligible, but Sheahan, Sproul and Mrazek are. I'm sure with three players eligible, we'll get the 2nd buyout period.

I don't need $11M, I just need $2M from Abby, $1.5M from Helm and $1M from Glenny. That'll let me have breathing room for AA and that 13th forward and injury call-ups when necessary. I'd alos like to shed $4.25M from Ericsson, but ya, right.

Well the difference between us and 15th highest? $11M. Not so marginal and would be tremendously helpful.

Sorry, Kenny has just made me so bitter with all his past contracts that are really haunting us right now. Theres no reason why we're going to be the highest paid team in the league (again) and 90% chance we miss the playoffs (again.) It's frustrating. If Holland wasn't overpaying junk players, he'd have plenty of cap space left for these issues. For every positive decision he makes, he then makes three idiotic ones. I love the team but can't stand the off ice leadership. Sort of like a lot of Americans today, they love their country, but hate their government and leaders. Like I said, if Helm, Abby and Glenny weren't severely overpaid, we wouldn't be in this situation to have to hope for LTIR in order to keep our best players.

Honestly, I hate high numbers. 83 looks horrible. There are plenty of low numbers available for these guys. Larkin shoukd be in 17, AA in 18. Dekeyser should be 27. There is 20, 22, 23, 26, 29. 2 is open now. 11 is open. That's plenty of normal numbers available without having to grab obscure crazy ones. Btw, I think when Ras gets here he'll grab Kronners #55.

Honestly, Vanek has worn 26 more than any number. He took 62 here because Jurco already had 26. Similar with Hossa, who always wore 18 until he came here and took 81 because Maltby. When Vanek returns, he'll wear 26.

All we have left is $933,333k in cap space to offer AA without going over. Insulting to one of you future star players. Thanks Holland.

So when we sign AA, we'll have 12 forwards signed, then minus Franzen back to 11. Witkowski as the 12th forward, no cap for the 13th. With Franzen on LTIR we have $933,333 in cap space. That's an insult to AA, and again, it doesn't leave any to give a 13th forward. So with Witkowski as the 12th forward, we are rolling with 12, 8, 2. I know we don't have to have 23 men, but for a team that missed the playoffs to not have a full roster spells disaster. If we give AA only the $933, that WILL make us the highest paid team in the NHL. That's an issue when we will once again be a team fighting for a final playoff spot, or worse. Ken Holland is such an ass for those stupid contracts to Helm, Glenny and Abby. Helm and Abby should not be over $3M and Glenny should have never seen over $1M. We really got screwed when Vegas didn't take any Cap from us.

So this leaves AA less than a million and nothing for a 13th forward... better be a trade coming or Kronwall on permanent LTIR.

I'd be ok with this, but its absolutely imperative that someone goes on LTIR along with Franzen or someone gets dealt.

When you realize that once again you are going to have the highest payroll in the NHL and will probably, once again miss the playoffs.

Take OEL and lock him up long term.

We aren't going anywhere, trade them as soon as you can. I believe their trade value is high enough now to get a few good picks for them. Why risk the chance of injury if anything their value go down by the deadline? I understand the opposite, maybe they'll raise their game and be more valuable, maybe...honestly, if they do that and we are sniffing the playoffs, you know Holland will not deal them.

I still think Tatar is the better option than Nyquist, but he's not going to be happy nor want to re-sign here, so get him traded to a contender as soon as you can.

I didn't say I wanted to sign Tatar at 5x5, I said it'd be ok. I'd trade him too if it meant giving him more than that. I'm with you, if he got Nyquist money so be it, but id still be looking at ways to shed cap. But if I'm trying to shed cap, he's not untouchable.

I list him with those guys to clear cap. He is one that is replaceable within. Mrazek, Helm, Ericsson, Nyquist. We wouldn't miss them if we had to open up cap.

Theres just not enough cap for us. There has to be trades. There absolutely has to, or we're screwed. I also complain about Helm and Abby's contracts. $5Mish is the going rate now, if Nyquist were to sign today for $4.75M or would be fine, I hope Tatar gets similar, but 3 years ago, $4.75M was too much for his production, he was more near $3M. That was the complaint because they overpaid him and he severely under performed. Now that the market has risen he is right in the mix of it, but we wasted a few million on him for a few years. Can't imagine what he will ask for in 2 years after netting only 40-50 points in each.

Id do 5X5, because it gives us $1.2M for AA. But there still has to be trades because that only makes 12 forwards if you include Witkowski. Which gives us 22 players with no cap for the 23rd. We trade a couple to clear cap, bring up 3 from GR or sign Vanek and bring up 2. Trade Mrazek, Ericsson and Helm, I don't care what the return, that'll free up $12M more. They'll make $18Mish total. $5M to Tatar, $1.5M to AA, $4M to Vanek, bring up Svech and Smith. That still leaves about $6M in cap for call ups, deadline, or just to save for next year when we need to give Larkin and Mantha big raises.
