Who does it block? If you get rid of 2 D contracts that leaves plenty of room. Edvinsson and Johansson will be here next season, they aren't being blocked in you sign Ghost for 3 years. Once Maatta falls off the books in a year and Chiarot in 2, there's room for ASP and another. They may not even re-sign Walman when his contract is up. Kane 3x5 makes sense for player development. Healthy he's still a PPG player. Even if he falls off in year 3 to .5 PPG he's still super valuable to the young players. $5M AAV isn't bad either.

Detroit has much more to offer both of them.

How are they making a push? Are they looking to acquire their UFA rights? I honestly can see a scenario where they are both back in Detroit, along with Perron. They just want term. Obviously they aren't gonna sign for minimum, but with term, they AAV can be less. Kane 3x$5M Ghost 3x$4M Perron 2x$2M (with a job with the team after) You get Raymond and Seider signed for 8 yrs each at a combined $15M-$17M. Then you sell off a couple of contracts (or buyout) to be able to bring up a few kids and re-sign Berggren and Veleno. The cap will continue to rise over the next three years, giving you room to re-sign the Kasper’s, Danielson's and Mazur's of the team. Who else to better mentor Berggren than Kane? I feel it's of utmost importance to get him re-signed.

    2024 Draft

What would you think about packaging the 15th for Zegras?

    2024 Draft

I am still willing to bet that if Eiserman falls out of the top 10, Yzerman trades up to get him. If it would take the 15th, prospect and player, then do it. I'd rather offer our 2025 1st round pick though. I really think Eiserman can be ours this draft.

    2024 Draft

Would you trade the #15 in a package for a legit, under 25 year old, #1a/#2 C? Or will the need for a scoring winger be more important to draft?

    2024-2025 Regular Season

They need to rid themselves of 2 or 3 current defensemen, Petry being the first to go, and acquire via trade a younger D that will be part of the next Cup team. By doing this and also bringing up Edvinsson and Johansson, this teams D gets 100% better. Especially if they cannot re-sign Ghost. Yzerman is not afraid to carry 8 D. If 5 of them are Seider, Walman, Holl, Chiarot, and Maatta that's ok, as long as the next 2 are the kids and he acquires an upgrade. I'd prefer a younger D stud to fill the top 4, but even if he signed a 27-30 year old UFA top 4, that would be a huge upgrade. I'd prefer just 7 D though.

Interesting. Wonder what the return would look like for Necas RFA rights and Pesce UFA rights?

What we know: Raymond and Seider won't be going anywhere but here. No matter the price or term. What I wish: Kane and Stamkos are Red Wings. Rumor has it Pesce might explore UFA.

I hope it's 4, or even just 2. I'd hate to have to negotiate both Raymond and Debrincat the same off season.

It's all about total value. 7x7=49, 6×8=48. Give him 8 years $52M total.

So, we have $29M in cap. A couple trade chips to free up a little bit more. Holl (or Maatta) and Fabbri. That'll give us $7M-$7.4M more. Let's just say we round to $37M. Seider $8M (8 year) if we could get him to bridge, that would be great! Raymond $5M (3 year bridge) Kane $5M (3 year) Stamkos $8M (3 year) $26M, leaving us $11 to get another G backup (unless Husso is dealt for another) and upgrade the D. Whether that's a UFA or via another trade. Fill in the remaining holes with kids. If we could wrestle Andersson out of Calgary for a 1st and prospect, that would be a big upgrade. Edvinsson and Johansson should be in Detroit next season. Debrincat-Larkin-Raymond Kane-Compher-Stamkos <Kid>-Veleno-Copp <kid>-Rasmussen-<kid>(or Fischer) Walman-Seider Edvinsson-Andersson Maatta(Holl)-Chiarot Johansson Husso Lyon

    2024 Draft

Draft Eiserman, Howe, and Zetterberg with your first 3 picks. Sign Stamkos, then re-sign Kane, and upgrade within to fill the other spots. Trade for a D if you must.

    2024 Draft

Button and some others have him ranked in the 40's to 50 range, so maybe they could snag him there! If Eiserman falls out of the top 10, I bet Yzerman trades up to grab him.

    2024 Draft

Weegar just started an 8 year extension this past season, not sure acquiring 7 years of that would be smart. Plus I would assume that if they just gave him 8 years last summer, they probably like the guy. Mangiapane at 1 year would be nice though. I bet we could pry Andersson out of there, considering the 7 years left on Weegar, plus the other D-men they have. They are still pretty solid even without Andersson. #15 plus more picks and a player(s)/prospect(s) for Andersson and Mangiapane!
