    Targets for the Wings

    Targets for the Wings

Yah, he's pretty entrenched in Minnesota now, but remember, he at first chose Detroit, his wife (maybe girlfriend at the time) didn't want to live here. So he then chose Minnesota. That's per Bob McKenzie. None of it matters now. I'm sure he'll retire a Wild, but I'm betting he never wins a Cup there.

Kucherov says some Tampa players "got their money and stopped working"

So you're saying, when a player says it, it could be true...when a fan says it, it's never happens...I think that's what I said already, but thanks. BTW, nyquist didn't have head problems, and I've blamed him for getting his money and taking it easy too. Franzen wasn't the only one. But in Franzens case, before anyone knew of his concussion problem, there was more than just me that was more than mad at his floating around and showing lack of interest. When it came out that the head was his problem, even i stopped. The reason it seemed like I've always bashed him is because I started disliking him somewhere around 09, well before everybody else. But don't you just hate when I'm on the right track about things when you try so hard to show that I'm wrong? Even now you're trying to turn this story into me still being totally off base. Hey maybe Kucherov and I are colluding about this.

Wings In Running For Victor Ejdsell

Me too...but if the guy grew up playing RW, at least that'd be better than trying to put a natural LW over there...but I agree, we need a RH'd top 6 shooter that can play the NHL game...

Wings In Running For Victor Ejdsell

At least Ejdsell plays RW. He may not be RH'd, but at least it's a needed position. Pettersson is a LW, we don't need that position.

Kucherov says some Tampa players "got their money and stopped working"

What? This never happens, ever! Well at least that's what I'm told over and over and over and over again. No player, regardless of nationality, gets their money and coasts through the rest of their contract....never happens. Funny when an actual star NHL player says it, all of a sudden there must be some substance to it..if a super fan says it, f*** off, it don't happen.

    2017 Draft

Because I'm hoping for Tippett. It doesn't matter where they were born. I said Tippett. Did I say fine young Canadian boy Tippett? No. Did I say ANY player as long as they're born here? No. I said Tippett. You guys are the ones that keep bringing up "no matter where they're born." I said nothing of the sort. I've been team Tippett for a long time. I have friends in Missagauga, they talk very highly of him. I've seen a lot of highlights, I think he does fill.a need of this team. You guys need to get a new hobby if all you're worried about is flaming me. If we draft 6-10Tippett is my choice. Not NA Tippett....Owen Tippett. Imo, Tippett, if not taken already, is the best player available at a position of need.

    2017 Draft

Tippett now at #6. http://www.tsn.ca/patrick-hischier-in-tight-race-for-no-1-in-tsn-draft-ranking-1.736258 I am completely confident that if we end up 6-10 Holland will be drafting Tippett. That is, until he doesnt....

    2017 Draft

Ya, ok. If what I call Finesse style or formerly European style hockey is racist, then what style should they be categorized under? How would you describe the two different styles I am referring to? How about sand paper style and lubricating style?

Wings In Running For Victor Ejdsell

If the kid plays 6'5" and not 5'6" like Ericsson, then he at be worth a look.

    2017 Draft

Wow....just wow. Power Style vs. Finesse that's it...you called names and now are being racist. Yikes!

Fwiw, my post was to compliment the many knowledgeable people on here and just show that anyone can do it, you don't have to be an NHL insider. I wasn't even referring to myself. But someone likes to make it all about me. All the time. I'm don't only post on Saturday and hope my boss don't catch me. When you've done what I've done for as long as I've done it, there is no getting caught. I do what I want, because my job gets done when it's time to work. But, if I were to become a scout, it'd be a North American one! Now let's get back to topic.

    2017 Draft

Exactly why I agreed with you that I shouldbe calling it finesse. BTW, it wasn't me who said I love the 97 and 98 teams. Yang, because that's what victims do, say they're wrong and change things that make them wrong. Whoa is me... FoR the record, I'm not wrong about what I was describing, just wrong about how I described it. You did see where I said I was wrong in the word I chose right? Or are you going to ignore that fact as well?

    2017 Draft

Wow, bigot...name calling...do you deny that most European players lean towards finesse over power? Never said there wasn't finesse na's or power euros. But it seems everytime you quote me you have an agenda. And now calling me a derogatory name...

Cannot forget Rodney Presswood in 1963.

    2017 Draft

European style and finesse usually means soft, I agree. Did you miss the part where I said I like Hedman? Of course, because it doesn't work into the agenda. I prefer tougher players to soft ones. Most Europeans are finesse but there are some that are tougher. It's not my fault that I prefer it that way and that European fit more into the finesse category. But absolutely there are north American players that line up there as well. I would take Victor Hedman over kyle quincey all day long...I can remember back when Hedman was drafted, we were dealing with Hudler I think either holding out as an rfa or getting ready to come back from the khl, I was talking about trading Hudler, Kronwall and a pick for the 2nd pick overall to draft Hedman. So even back then I liked him, even before he turned out they way he did...

    2017 Draft

So, you just ignored the first part of the post and then went and quoted older ones where I said European just to try to troll me. Re-read the last post you quoted...I agreed finesse sounded much better and admitted I was saying it wrong, and agreed with you that it doesn't matter nationality, I want more power over finesse. Before Dickie used the word finesse, that's what I was describing as European. Again, I said finesse was more what I meant and I was saying it wrong. But to defend my use of European, I used the word style with it. European Style, not specifically being from Europe. But finesse is more what I was referring to. Every last quote you put up says European STYLE.

    Targets for the Wings

I don't think he'd have to soften up Trouba, I believe he'd be all for coming to Detroit. Trouba would have to soften up Chevy to accept a lower price... ..here's an interesting thought to kick around. With so many playoff disappointments, this year included, what if Minnesota decided to ask Suter to give them a list of teams he'd accept a trade to, and if one of those teams were Detroit, would you still want him and what would you be willing to give up?
  21. LeftWinger

perspective on the #7 overall pick

Yah, it'd be great if we could land a Kyle Okposo or Ryan Suter type at #7ish.
  22. LeftWinger

    2017 Draft

I can go with that, it does sound much better. Power vs. finesse. ..and that's where I was saying it wrong. It has nothing to do with nationality, I want a nice balance of Power and Finesse. I just think Tippett and Hague fit the bill of what we need now to better balance our team.

Speaking of Haken, you guys like to make fun of some users who, just because they don't have the pedigree or schooling, you say they don't have the smarts to evaluate hockey talent. Well Haken played hockey as a kid, joined the military and was a fishing guide prior to his employment with the Wings. He was a normal guy who grew up loving the sport, followed his local teams and followed amateur as well as professional players. He was a part time scout prior to 1990 when he then accepted a full time job as a scout. It doesn't take schooling or being inthe nhl to be a great judge of talent or be able to analyze youth hockey players. It takes a love of the game, dedication to learning all you can about players and being in the right place at the right time. I believe there are more than a few of my fellow users here that if they pursued it, could become very good scouts in the NHL.

    2017 Draft

I'm just perplexed that you don't know what a European style player is compared to a power type player...but OK, if you're that naive or just trying to bait, here's your examples: Power: Tippett, Hague, Shanahan,Backes Euro-style: Liljegren, Patterson, Nyquist, Tatar. It's just my opinion we lack the power type player. Both at fwd and D. Abby and Ericsson aren't the answer. Adding more Euro type players isn't either. I'm not saying switch to a bunch of bottom 6 grinders either. I like what our core is looking like, but imo, adding a couple of more power style players that are top 6 and top 4 to that core and we get closer to that perfect balance that is needed to win a Cup. Granted, if this 6'5" kid in Sweden plays to his size and can net 25-30? That's good too. I'm a fan of Hedman as well. The perception is I don't like Swedes. Wrong. I'm just tired of the soft European style player that we always seem to get. I hate when I'm right about them, but trust me, I love when I'm wrong.

Sure, but then Holland wouldn't be even remotely warm to him, and this wouldn't even be a thread.
