I agree with Chaps assessment in the other thread. Leave all your "bad contracts" unprotected and force Vegas to take one of them. Protect: Nielsen, Zetterbrg, AA, Mantha, Nyquist, Tatar, Sheahan Ouellet, Jensen, Green (since he has the 1 year left and could fetch a few picks) Mrazek of the exposed players, the most in danger of being selected are Helm, Abby, Howard and Dekeyser. I don't think Kronwall will be in any danger, and Ericsson is a hunk of garbage, so he is safe (unfortunately.) Glendening on down should be safe unless Vegas has their NHL roster and are looking to stockpile their AHL team.

He has a full NMC next season too. His modified NTC kicks in 2018-19.

I honestly belive we have a chance at one of the guys we've all been talking about. Especially Tippett. If we luck out and get a #3, Vilardi should be our target. Not unless he does something stupid and drafts a position player we aren't in need of. Top 3 our targets should be Patrick or Vilardi. If we draft 7-10 our target should be Tippett. By the words I heard from his interview though, it sounded like he wasn't greatly impressed by Sproul, Ouellet or Jensen. Maybe he'll draft Liljegren. If so, I hope he is able to get Hague in the 2nd round.

He said he hopes AA can continue to develope next year and become even more important to this team. He's being protected. He also said there will be lots of possible movement before the draft, so why would he leave him unprotected and possibly lose him for free, if he could trade him for a very nice return? Not that I think he'll do either, but most definitely if he's not part of your future trade him instead of giving him away to Vegas. I give Holland a lot of crappie, but I really don't think he's that stupid. Two of the dumbest things he could do that would stain his legacy here is lose AA to expansion and then draft a player in a position we don't need with a top 10 pick. Holland needs to draft what this team needs. We don't need a left wing, let alone a 150lb. Swedish left wing. There is only one Zetterberg, this kid will not be the next Z. Just like Nyquist and Tatar were not the next Euro Twins, much like they were touted to be by many "eexperts." We need a C, a sniping RW and a D. Pettersson is none of those. Not as new as your next username. How many are we at now?

And for what it's worth, Kindl was the 2nd ranked Euro D in 2005. Maybe he was the highest ranked Euro D...look how that turned out. If Holland drafts that Pettersson kid, I'm out, not a tad overboard. Look at the players who he shows just after our pick. Trading AA or Larkin for Trouba is making a hole to fill another. If it costs a ton, then don't bother. You cannot take away from the core up front. AA, Larkin and Mantha should be untouchable. But hey, Holland can always trade all three, draft Hakan Sweden and we'll be fine!

Liljegren probably won't be there at 7-10. If he gets 1-3 he damn well better not draft Liljegren.

Never heard of the kid. It'd be a typical Holland experimental pick trying to look like he knows what he's doing. Meanwhile all other teams draft the kids that are supposed to be drafted and Holland looks even more like a buffoon. There are no more hidden gems over there! Save the experiments for the later flipping rounds!

For what it's worth, if Holland drafts that kid, I will go so apes*** that I'll probably get banned from here, which would suck, but then again, I'd never watch another Red Wings game again, so I'd have nothing to discuss anyhow. Every last piece of Red Wings parphanelia would hit the bonfire. That would be the last nail in the coffin of my life as a Wings fan.

Still I don't trade AA for Trouba, and I'm probably one of the biggest fan of getting him here. Let's see where our draft lottery ends up. Then we'll see what type of player we can expect to get or trade return. If players like Trouba are going cost too much in trade, I say keep what you have, draft the best kid you can and try to score Shattenkirk as plan A. If you can't land him, then plan B starts with exploring trade routes. Does anyone know if the expansion draft is before or after the amateur draft? That could play a big role in needs moving forward.

I say Hitch goes back to Dallas, Gallant to Vegas, Sutter to Vancouver. ..although, it'd be sweet to at least get Sutter here as an A. I don't think he'd take the job, unless all HC jobs were already filled. He'd be a perfect replacement if Blas hill doesn't make it past next season.

I would definitely trade our 1st to Anaheim for Fowler and their 1st. If who I wanted at #7 wasn't there. I'd then draft Hague if he were still available.

I like Trouba, would love to have him here, is he a #1 D throughout the NHL? No. Would he be #1 here? Yes. With that being said, I think that with Winnipeg knowing he'd be our #1 that they'd inflate the asking price for us. So I agree with you guys it would cost more than just our 1st, and more than I'd be comfortable parting with. Unless we get shafted and wind up 10th, I think we sure just keep our pick unless a nice deal comes along that improves us and doesn't take away from our building core.

Now everybody wants to trade AA. This kid is the best thing you have for the future.
