I'll take it! Gabe Vilardi welcome to Detroit!
-
Mittelsadt is showing ranked #6 right now, but what about this Ryan Poehling (pronounced PAYLING) kid? They have him at #9. With all the names flying around, I haven't seen him on anyone's radar. He is teammate of Cholowski at St. Cloud St. I'll have to check out some scouting reports. Hell, looking at their roster, they have THREE brothers named Poehling. Ryan, Jack and Nick...they are all freshman, what are they triplets? EDIT: Interesting http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports/college/hockey/husky-hockey/2016/05/15/ryan-poehling-bypassing-senior-year-join-scsu/84384928/ Jack and Nick are twin 19 year olds, Ryan graduated High School early and bypassed his senior year to play at St. Cloud St. at 17 years old...Wow!

I was just going by that TSN rankings, but Nick has done himself well to climb from a projected early 2nd to a top 10 over the season. My ultimate 1st rounder is Vilardi, but even if we lose the next two, Im not sure we'll be able to get him, unless he drops a few spots. I suppose we could wind up 4th eventually, if we get 0 points, but that would be hard, especially since I think they'll be playing their hardest this Sunday to try to win one last one at The Joe. It's not like the Devils are playing for anything either, they probably also want to end low as they can. I see a loss Saturday and a win Sunday giving us 78 points and probably no better than #6, which will bump us to #7. We could win a lotto pick and get in the top 5 still, though. So I guess, best case top 10 realistic scenario(s) for me, would be Vilardi or Suzuki. I am high on Tippett (you don't say?) but I am sure Holland wouldn't take him top 10, if he's ranked 20th.
-
You never know...I wouldn't be surprised. But I think if Liljegren is sitting there, he'll draft him.
-
I was looking at the TSN list I posted above...and then I just went with current standings in comparison to us and adding Vegas. I thought we were 9th, but then saw we were 7th currently with Vegas. Only a few changes to Holland's pick (IMO) and one change on mine. Of course right now we sit 6th, which gives us 7th spot with no lotto win, that'll change things a smidge, let me make some changes for 7th spot: Holland's picks (Mine) 1st: Liljegren (Suzuki) 2nd: Brannstrom (Hague) 3rd: Minulin (Reedy or Skinner (G)) 3rd: Soderlund (Coghlan) 3rd: Chytil (Crotty) 3rd: Hugg (Paquette) 4th: Salo (Keating) Those are who I can see Holland selecting...my choices are still the same except the 4th rounder.
-
That's why its my perfect scenario. Going by that rankings (if we end up 9th,) I think Holland will select: 1st: Heiskanen (who I'd like: Suzuki) 2nd: Brannstrom (who I'd like: Hague) 3rd: (from FLA) Safin (Me: Reedy or Skinner (G)) 3rd: (from TOR) Soderlund (Me: Coghlan) 3rd: (From NYR) Anokhovsky (Me: Crotty) 3rd: (from CHI) Hugg (Me: Paquette) 4th: Martin (Me: Martin) That's as far as the list goes (105 picks) so I cannot comment on the 5th, 6th (2) or 7th rounders.

Well, last I saw on a TSN draft ranking, Tippet was in the 20's and Hague was in the 50's... of course come draft day, they could all be top 5! http://www.tsn.ca/craig-s-list-lots-of-talent-after-patrick-hischier-1.702428

Should any of #91, #13, #40, #30 be retired? Poll/Discussion

Uh....13 walked away from his contract, if leaving Detroit disqualifies Fedorov, then no way to Datsyuk. Plus technically 13 was traded. BUT, IMO all four should be yes. -
Perfect Scenario: Vilardi with our 1st. Tippett with our 2nd. Hague with Florida's 3rd. Draft winners!

Well I gotta go with the Yogi Guru!

Yah, those are the exact same words from the link I supplied.

I'd be happy with Suzuki or Yamamoto as well. I recall bringing those guys up a long while ago back when they were projected low 1st to high 2nd. They've done well to move themselves up.

http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/elliotte-friedman-on-ken-holland?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Ken Holland does not want to step-down he wants to be the man to bring the team back...expect an extension... Blashill WILL be back. Sorry folks. No Stevie, no Hitchcock, going to be the same old stuff next season and beyond.
-
If we draft 9th and we miss out on the top guys and if Tippet is still there you must take him. He fills a need today. Then if I can't acquire #1 D, then I trade up to get Hague. I still like trading our 1st to someone for 2 later 1sts. Tippet and Hague make this team instantly better now and in the future. We must draft these two guys. Especially if we miss out on Vilardi.

Should've won it in 08. A couple guys had a great chance in 08. Z had that one shift in game 6 that made people vote for him. Still could've won it in 09, he was the best player on the ice. -

...so using your logic Fedorov captained a team to a Cup victory. That's awesome, yet another reason his number must go up! -

Zetterberg was never Captain of a Cup champion. -
NHL will not participate in 2018 Winter Olympics
LeftWinger replied to Wing Across The Pond's topic in General
NHL needs to maintain their stance and not bow down to the players. If the NHL are hardballers, which they are, they'll schedule the busiest schedule they can during those two weeks. I, for one, don't think professional players should be playing in an amateur tournament. I understand the debate about the best players in the world, etc...but I just feel it should be players that aren't in the NHL or the KHL for that matter. IMO, you either decide to play in the International Federation or the NHL. If you decide to sign the NHL contract and breach that contract, your contract is null and void and your ability to sign in the NHL again is blocked. Now if the NHL and the NHLPA want to work something into the next CBA, fine, but as of now, if the people who pay your exuberant salary say no, then it's no. You breach, you're no longer in the NHL. -
Nic Hague.

Doesn't say anything about Montreal in your post. It just says steering back to topic like you were saying people were getting off topic by not talking about Zetterberg. If steering away from Montreal is what you meant, then apologies, but your statement looks like what some folks thought it was referring to. -

Forgot about him being in the top 100 OF ALL TIME. Another reason he deserves it. Retired numbers are ultimately for the fans to enjoy. It's so they can look into the rafters and tell their kids/grandkids that they saw that legend play. It really doesn't upset me that you and others don't think he deserves it, it will upset me if the team never retires him because he was one of the top 5 Red Wings of all time. He deserves it, earned it and for the fans, whom he loved (met him tons of times at Airport) and if the team doesn't do it, it's just another slap in the face and a big f*** you to the fans. You are jaded by him leaving and are only referencing the Cup teams for the most part. For over a decade, he lead this team and was probably the most unstoppable player on the ice. He was dominating this team and the NHL BEFORE the all-star team of 2002.
