2/11 GDT - at Columbus Blue Jackets 2, Red Wings 1

They'll look after the Tigers in the rear view after Gilbert buys them! I don't want to win ONE for Mr. I, win 20-25 more for him! Just Win!

Mike Ilitch passes away at age 87

I'm sure they will...it'll be very cool to see the tribute to him for next season's Arena opening/home opener. It would be very cool if they did a patch for the entire season...maybe even the rest of this season.

    Goodbye Ken Holland?

YEs, KLIQ is correct, both Holland and Yzerman have one more year on their contracts.

    Goodbye Ken Holland?

I guess I am a Holland apologist and hater at once.... I give him credit for trying to get quality UFA's to come here, he tries for the biggest UFA's every year, he just cannot force them to come here. He dug his own grave though with the whole "We're Detroit, take a discount to come here" attitude he had there for a long time. That worked when we were winning, but after a while, players weren't having it. BUT, I do give him credit, he seems to have changed that attitude, he offered a ton for Suter, Niskanen, paid a ton for Green, Nielsen and its no doubt that if he had been given a shot at Stamkos, he would've offered him that max as well. I hate him, because he won't lick his wounds and deal people when they need to because of this loyalty thing, or signs our UFA's to fat contracts because of loyalty and homegrown reasons. I hate that he seems to not want to back up his words with actions about making the bold moves, changing the team makeup, etc...on the same hand, I loved the Vanek and Nielsen additions, plus Ott. So just like 90% of the fans, I am finicky when it comes to Holland, but only because I expect the best choices and moves from the perceived best GM in the NHL.

    Push For The Playoffs

7 points out of the 3rd spot....I believe a push can be made, maybe we will buy someone...Ben Bishop? We could afford him as a rental...but damn, at what cost? Does Yzerman give us a deal to 1. Get a small return for him, and 2. Be his starting goalie when Stevie takes over The Red Wings. I joke, I joke... Push For The Playoffs

You are right, I see that BOS has 1 point up on PHL for the last wildcard. So ya, 6 points and 8 teams to catch and pass. Thanks! But really, there cannot be a bigger motivator than your owner's death. Not saying that it will propel them into 26 years, but if it doesn't motivate you to push that much harder and longer, even if it hurts, to do it for his legacy and his memory, then I don't what else can motivate them to make it to the playoffs. This should also be Holland's new motivation and he should also be kicking those tires a hell of a lot harder.

Jonathan Ericsson out with fractured wrist, no timetable for return.

No really, I just made up the #19 in honor of yzerman....lol! I guess I should've posted the info from capfriendly.com, but I just thought most of us delved into that site pretty deep. Next time I'll post my sources!

    Goodbye Ken Holland?

I like how people react when it doesn't fit in to their agenda. It'd be different if someone said, my neighbor's daughter's boyfriends mailman said Holland to Toronto. SheeSus!

From 1994...The Pizza Dome, eh? Has a very nice ring to it. It's now my official nickname for Little Caesar Arena.

Mike Ilitch passes away at age 87

Take minute to think of his influence on hockey. It's almost a guarantee that he has touched, in one way or another, a player, coach, gm, scout, etc...from all 30 teams. Local kids who grew up playing for little caesars hockey. Damn he could very well be near the top of the list of most influential people in the sport of hockey RIP Little Caesar....Champion Champion!

Words cannot describe... Little rumors floating around Tigers may be sold to Gilbert and focus to remain on Wings...

    Howard hurt.....again

Capfriendly.com has him back on LTIR. Maybe he just hasn't been activated yet, but it says LTIR under recent injuries. https://www.capfriendly.com/transactions/injuries

Jonathan Ericsson out with fractured wrist, no timetable for return.

There goes 9 again. Dude NTC'S get traded ALL the time. Besides, after next season his clause stipulates he submit a 19 team no trade list. So he can be traded to 12 other teams without him saying no. Yes I'm including Vegas.

Mods, please delete the other two, don't know what happened to make it post 3 threads...

Jonathan Ericsson out with fractured wrist, no timetable for return.

Not that it was going to happen, but there goes any trade scenario... I'm not a E fan what-so-ever, but at what point in the game did he go down? Before or after we couldn't stop them from scoring 10 seconds after we scored? Not saying I think he is good now, but it was obvious, at least last night, that it hurt a bit when he got injured. Now maybe its because we only had 5 D the rest of the game. Let's see what this D lineup can do, I have been calling all year for Kronwall and Ericsson to be scratches, so now we will see where we stand without them. DD - Green Smith - Jensen XO - Sproul Getting well soon Erection, but even when you're healthy, stay off the ice!

2/9 GDT - Red Wings at Capitals - 7:00 PM EST

After watching the replay of his 2nd goal, Blashill looked pissed probably because Helm was open on the side of the net and AA didn't pass it to the loyal veteran. He's trying too much as an individual, two goals is just too selfish of a player...bad AA.
