Basically, they're going to take our 12th best player. Slumping or not if Tatar, Nyquist, Green, Dekeyser or Helm are exposed, I think one of those guys would go before Coreau. But, trade Mrazek, not my choice, then you protect Coreau over Howard. Not that he'd be any more in danger of being selected, but if you're down to only two, you just never know. Rather lose Howard than Coreau.

Frans Nielsen will represent Red Wings at NHL All-Star Game

I thought you were Darren Helm? -
Nothing is out of the question but I think trading for Tavares would be too costly. Best wait another year and see if he hits ufa. I just think this deadline our prices will too expensive because other gm's know Holland is in need of many pieces. Best to sell what you can, hoard picks and play all your kids (which are your best players anyhow) and maybe take a few swings on July 1st. Swings as what, dunno, outside of Shattenkirk, nothing is too interesting unless you re-sign Vanek.

So, unless I'm missing something, why would Chris O'Donnell say he was there representing Hockeytown? I missed the intro of the 100! Crap! -
Rate Yzerman, Lidstrom and Zetterberg's leadership during their runs as C's

You missed when Fedorov and Konstantinov came in. That was huge as well! Also, even though he didn't win a Cup here, I believe the trade for Paul Coffey was huge too. Not just because he got is Shanny later, but it showed players and teams around the league that The Red Wings are serious and will trade for stars in order to win. That is why I believe Bryan Murray and Jim Lites were just as huge in building this franchise as Bowman and Holland. But Bowman was the key for sure, that is why we need a new coach. You may have a mediocre bunch of players, but the right coach gets the best out of them and in turn it attracts the eye of star players. I know this isn't the coach thread, but it falls in line with what you two are talking about. I plead the 5th! Edit: cannot forget Lidstrom! -

Well said... -
It's bizarre. With that connection, you would think he'd play the kids more in more important situations...unless someone else controls the icetime from on the bench...

Unload...Unload...unload First, I didn't say Mickey said something negative...I simply said, if Z isn't talking to this team after every crap game, he should be. If he isn't, he's not a very good captain. Also, the Fedorov thing, even though he was not a Wings Captain yet the jest was he was a better one means Zetterberg is not even as good as a non-captain that wasn't a captain for the Wings. Not an alternate captain, a captain. Afterall this thread is, in your opinion, rate the 3. click, click, unload...just because you don't agree with me, doesn't mean its crap. Its your opinion vs. someone else's. IMO Zetterberg is NOT a good captain. Great player, just not captain. Unload. I've said it for years. Sure he may offensively carry the team (more so years ago) but not a good captain. By my though process he is worse than the others...I can't comment on the authors thought process. You act like whoever doesn't agree with your ideas, they aren't real Wings fans. I've been living and breathing this team since 1979, RELIGIOUSLY! Just because our opinions differ doesn't make either of us the wiser or bigger Wings fan! Unload, go ahead, I've been here since 03, I've been unloaded on more times than you have posts. It doesn't bother me. It actually makes me glad that it keeps the conversation away from just Rah Rah, Wings Rule! -
remember when fans were even more excited?

The other night Mickey was talking about Z's presence in the lockeroom. He said that Z doesn't say something every night, but when something needs to be said about how things are going, he says it and the players listen. Really? So this dire situation doesn't require something being said every night? If he is not saying "something" to this team after every s***show, then it just goes to show how "good" of captain he is. -

Really? I thought he was? that was the point of saying it, he wasn't a captain, yet he was still a better captain than Zetterberg... were your obvious glasses off when you read that? Sheesh... I am almost insulted you took it as a serious statement. -

No way do you rank Z ahead of Lidstrom. I know it's just an opinion, but not close. Fedorov was a better C than Z...exactly! Z is an absolute great player, great career, might get HOF, but is not a good captain. But again, it's all opinion. -

Yzerman, Yzerman, Lidstrom. All due respect to Z as a player, not a good captain. -
Ya, ok. I guess I totally misunderstood those situations. Wow, mine eyes have seen the glory! Funny THAT. Btw, drouin was NEVER about money, it was about playing in the nhl. He requested a trade, refused to play in an AHL game and was being shopped. If not for the injury to Stamkos he'd be gone. Again, you don't play hardball with Yzerman. You want out? He'll ship you out! Same result as St.Louis. https://www.google.com/amp/news.nationalpost.com/sports/nhl/jonathan-drouins-refusal-to-play-ups-the-ante-with-tampa-bay-lighting-in-bid-to-be-traded/amp Funny this and that! Peace brother!
-
It's used for people to call out other people for not being true fans or prejudice...that being said Ericsson Kronwall Nyquist Sheahan ...then about 3-4 tied for 5th.
-
If Stamkos hadn't of gotten hurt, drouin would've been dealt or at least spent a lot more time in the AHL, where he told Yzerman not to send him or he'll request a trade... St. Louis was pissed about not being selected for team Canada and called Yzerman out on it and said he wouldn't play for him. Out! You don't play hardball with Yzerman. That's all I'm saying...
-
I'm calling it, if/when Blashill gets fired, Chelios will be one of the top candidates. .. Holland and Yzerman both have 1 more year...welcome of stevie!
-
I was just going on Steve's history with players that demand things from him. St . Louis and Drouin eggs. I don't make things up...if I'm wrong I will own up to my wrong, but no, not just making things up. Yzerman is that kind of gm, he learned from Scotty. You crossed Scotty, you were gone. Wish we had a gm like that, Tatar, you want out? Bye! Plus I said, "if I recall." Maybe I'm wrong about the name who held out and refused the contract offer, but that is how Yzerman rolls.
-
If I recall, Nester waited a long time to sign a 1 yr deal. He wanted more, wouldn't sign, finally signed a one year deal. Not sure whether it was through arbitration or not. He wanted more money, of course once you cross Yzerman, you're pretty much doomed. He probably would've caused the same problem next year. He was already on shaky grounds with the GM. Yzerman wasn't having it.

The Rat farts $10,000... Thats only .002% of his salary this season...001% of next season salary. What's the point? Just put him on the naughty list and call it a day... -
Can't like your post enough! Guarantee a better coach, gets more out of these players. But I think Holland wants a coach he can control. I am still not convinced that players aren't getting more ice time due to their "loyalty" and in some cases salary. No way Ericsson should be getting more icetime than XO or Jensen. No way should Nyquist or Tatar be in the top 6 over Mantha or AA. Then that gets thrown out when Blashill plays Coreau over Mrazek, and then Sheahan leads all forwards in TOI. But then again, Sheahan, Helm, Abby, Glenny...they're all good soldiers who do the bidding of thy master. AA must have gotten caught being Mrs. Blashill's little boytoy or something, because he just cannot get out of the doghouse...

Only when he stays out there for 2 minutes. He was making good line changes against Boston.

If it proves too expensive to try and acquire Trouba/Hamilton then if I can shed some dead weight off the back end, I go hard for Shattenkirk. He's already said he'd like to be traded here (one on his list) so there's a chance he'd ink a deal come July if we offer enough cash. Then next off season, once Green's contract is gone, I all in on Fowler. Honestly though, both Winnipeg and Anaheim are up against a wall come expansion draft, its almost a guarantee they'd lose one of their talented defensemen, they can only protect 3 each and respectively they to choose from: Anaheim: Bieska (NMC) has to be protected unless he agrees to waive it... Fowler Lindholm Vatanen Winnipeg: Byfuglien (NMC) Enstrom (NMC) Trouba Myers Either team may choose to move a non-NMC before the expansion so they get some sort of return, so prices may drop a bit. I would thin Vegas would take any of those 5...I would.
