Absolutely DD got man handled. No argument there, but you also have photo and video footage of the style of play of hank, gus and e. Swipe swipe no touchy. Has nothing to do with racism or international play. Btw, watch the video, DD got schooled, but he wasn't looking the wrong way, he got thrown down like a doll. Continue the video and watch hank and gus swing at the puck instead of take the body. Didn't I just give lidstrom the ultimate compliment? You won't bait me brother. -
http://kuklaskorner.com/tmr/comments/the-chicago-blackhawks-may-have-interest-in-tomas-tatar-and-gustav-nyquist?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Hawks sniffing around Nyquist and Tatar. We'll have accept a bag of pucks though, our guys are worth nothing. But if we want someone it'll be Larkin and 16 first round picks. Does that sound about right?

That's the Swedish way to play now-a-days...you see in the pic both gus and hank trying to play the puck and big erection did his puck swiping in OT. That is why we need players with a take the body mentality. Lidstrom was an anomaly, he had the best stick check in the world...there is no more lidstroms in the nhl, especially on our team. If Holland drafts that Liljegren kid, I will blow a gasket. Sorry, but that's reality. You want more soft stick swiping or do you want players that clear the net? There are good players out there like that, who can do both, have some finesse and use the body. This team can't even protect their finesse players. They couldn't or won't clear the front of the net if they wanted to. E should've been all over Okposo. Tackle him. Do something physical, especially in that situation where a penalty would've been the right thing to do. -
...and once again, it'll cost the world to acquire someone, but our guys, even a potential #1 Overall is worthless. I get it.

I understand what you're saying, but I am just not so sure either of the trades are out of the realm of possibility. I am all for throwing some extra out there for Fowler, in the LONG post I made in the GM thread I actually added Marchenko to our trade with Calgary or Anaheim that I'd like to see...maybe that sweetens it up some...

That would be a good penalty though, 5 on 3 or not, there was about 30 seconds left in the game. Surely enough time to score, but everything would've had to have gone perfect. In OT with that little time left, you destroy anyone that is in front of the net, especially if your already killing a penalty, your odds are pretty good that it doesn't get called, and again, even if it did...30 seconds. But hey, I'm just a commoner, not an elite hockey mind. I do blame the refs for not calling the hook, although DD did his best Crosby after he was falling down, but at the very least blow the whistle call the hook and the embellishment. I willing to bet the ref was thinking about it until DD threw his glove and arm up int he air and gave the "argh" face like he was accosted. I also blame the refs for calling a damn weak hook on Nielsen. Most definitely less impactfull than the non-call. Nielsen was in the open ice, the one DD lead directly to a giveaway that lead to the goal. But of course the replay on NHL.com doesn't go back that far to show the mistake by their sacred refs. -
OK, I've been touching on this stuff here and there in different topics, but I want to lay out my entire plan starting Deadline Day and into Start of next season. You may not agree, "You can breathe, you can blink, you can cry...hell you're all gonna be doing that!" But here it goes... If I were GM: Deadline, and I'm 10+ points out of playoffs. I do my best to shop Vanek, Green, Smith (if healthy) Jurco, Ericsson and one of Nyquist/Tatar. In the perfect world I move all of them, but for real, I'm probably going to be able to move Vanek. As stated in the other thread, I no longer want a pick for him. I am in a hot conversation with Anaheim, who will be sitting atop the pacific looking for scoring to help them possibly bring it all home. I have multiple offer from other clubs regarding Vanek, so Anaheim gives me what I want, Cam Fowler. If I have to throw a 3rd rounder in there to make up for the fact that Vanek is a rental, so be it. I try to move others, maybe Jurco gets moved for a pick, but I get no takers really. That's fine I got my first piece to the rebuild. Fowler. Now, I continue to "try" to be competitive, but lets face it, I just traded my leading goal scorer, so offense suffers a bit. We give up less goals, but we also score less. Hey, streak is over, so I may as well miss the payoffs by a mile! Ok, expansion draft, here is my protection list: Zetterberg (because I know he will get protected no matter what) Nielsen Mantha Athanasiou Abdelkader Tatar Helm Fowler Dekeyser Sproul Mrazek Now, we're going to lose someone, that's a given, looking at who I protected the next best player available is probably Nyquist. Maybe Vegas takes a gamble on Green. As a matter of fact, so I don't get blamed for Swedish Hatred, I am going to go with the scenario they claim Green from us. Ok, moving on to the draft lottery and draft..I don't tank it enough to beat out Colorado for the #1 pick, but I do get #4. At the draft I am on the phone with Calgary and Winnipeg seeing which one wants that pick more....I offer the #4 pick PLUS Marchenko to both teams for either Hamilton and their 1st or Trouba and their 1st. Looking at the standings right now (yes currently) Calgary has the lead on Winnipeg and also holds the last wildcard spot. Without knowing what is going to happen I am just going to say Calgary gets the wildcard and they also want to do the deal. So that gives me Hamilton and lets say the 14th pick. I have my top D set. But with the 14th pick I want to draft a young D for the future as well. I am looking at Cal Foote and Nick Hague. Respectively the are ranked 11 and 12 in the North American skaters group. Obviously you can't predict which players teams will choose, but mixing in the top European skaters along with North American Goalies and Euro Goalies, there's a good chance ONE of those two will be still on the board at #14. I draft whichever one is there, for this I am going to say Hague, but either one is super ok with me! I am not going to go through rounds 2-7 here. Ok, now, we have our D set pretty much, but we need to address the cap soon, plus we may want to try to re-sign Vanek. Which I do want to. Enter July 1: I love Ott, but unless I can get my cap in order he must find another home. Hopefully he'll give me time to tie up my loose ends. Two players I am interested in are Vanek and Oshie. Oshie will probably cost me more, so I am only interested if he stays around the same salary as he has now, which probably won't be the case. I offer Vanek a 3 year deal worth $13.5M and of course, a NTC since I know it would be included with Holland. Ok, so now here I sit with a lot of players and a lot of money being spent. I have trim the fat before October. I've already tried and failed to trade E and Howard. I use my buyout's on both of them. What? You say? Yes, now I am on the hook for dead money for 4 years with Howard and 6 years for E, but total per year for 4 years is : $3.4M, $3.8M, $2.8M, $2.8M then only $1.3M and $1.3M for E's final 2 years. I also let Smith leave and Miller, I just cannot afford to re-sign them. As a matter of fact I now have to chose between Jurco and Ott as my 13th forward. I of course re-sign Tatar to a 2 year $6M contract, AA to 2 year $3.6M contract. Jensen 2 year $1.6M and XO 2 years $2.2M. For this scenario I choose to re-sign both Ott and Jurco and deal with the overage come October. But even then I am only over by $723k after giving them both 1 year deals. So, here is my roster come October with the only remaining detail is choosing Ott or Jurco. Note I do still have Kronwall in my cap, so if he goes LTIR or retires that opens up a lot more for me. Plus there is no guarantee Vanek returns for $4.5M, but I think with Fowler and Hammy acquired, I'll be fine promoting a kid from GR if Vanek gets more somewhere else. Athanasious - Nielsen - Vanek Larkin - Zetterberg - Mantha Tatar - Helm - Nyquist (this line has great potential) Sheahan - Glendening - Abdelkader Ott/Jurco Fowler - Hamilton Dekeyser - Sproul Ouellet - Jensen Kronwall (listed 7th because he will be in and out all year long) Mrazek Coreau

It's getting hot in here when Mom gets snippy! I think its more our D than Mrazek. He made some great saves yesterday, I don't think there is too much he could've done about any of the goals. Watching them again, I'm pretty sure they are all goals that even the best goaler's give up at times. 1st goal Dekeyser shot it in the net...2nd goal Dekeyser was out-muscled and then it was a perfect placement where 99% of the time no goalie stops it above his catching hand over the shoulder, the 3rd goal we all know Ericsson was playing wiffle ball instead of knocking Okposo tot he ice or hell, at least chopping his stick in half, what are they going to do call you for a another penalty? Whooie Doo! You can't go down more than 4 on 3 and by time the first PK was over, the OT would have been over. Last night's game was all on our D. There wasn't one goal that Mrazek flubbed. -

https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/det-vs-buf/2017/01/20/2016020686#game=2016020686,game_state=final Highlights....if you want to know why we lost, watch the GWG, Ericsson is such a horrible hockey player. What the hell is he trying to do, sweep the ice away? -
I wish I was out! I am on 0500 to 2230 today...ugh... every FRI/SAT.

I hate to keep being the only one posting, but I am at work and have a lot of down time right now. All this talk about Vanek fetching us a 1st round pick, what about the idea that Anaheim (who is in 1st place in their division) offers up Fowler for Vanek? Hmmm.... I think I'd rather take that than a 1st rounder from Chicago. Then if we still tank out and get that top 5 pick, I STILL try and do the Calgary/Winnipeg deal and have TWO of what I need. I know I'd need to make room, but in my head, I am already dumping E however I can. If I cannot trade him, I waive him, if nobody claims him I buy him out. Sure we'd have to pay him for 6 years, but the hit is only $1.6M the first year and then 5 years of $1.3M. I know it's dead money, but that's still a nice savings and opening up his spot would be wonderful! I am also hedging that Smith walks if not traded, although I could deal Marchenko instead...either way. But now my 2017-18 D may resemble something like this: Fowler - Hamilton Dekeyser - Green XO - Jensen Sproul or Marchenko) Plus with my trade for #1 D, I also draft Foote or Hague hopefully if they're still on the board. I think that would be a great way to start the rebuild for sure! I know Kronwall isn't there, but if he doesn't retire or go LTIR, odds are he won't be in the lineup too often anyhow due to injuries.

So here's the question, If you are 4-6 points out of the playoff spot come trade deadline morning, what do you do? Buy, Sell or stand pat... My answer would be stand pat and let these guys try to make it. BUT... The perfect missing the playoffs scenario is, for me: I would love to sell Vanek for a 1st, but ONLY a 1st, and that hurts because I like Vanek. I'd try ship (if possible) Green, Ericsson, Smith and one of Nyquist/Tatar off for more picks if I were selling. Not because of any hatred towards them, but to stockpile on picks. We've already broke the streak, no need to hang on to players that don't contribute, lets go rebuild and start a new steak. I wouldn't BUY because I'd hate to deplete our future to just try to make the playoffs. But honestly, if we're going to miss the playoffs, I want that top 5 pick to trade away. So if we're out buy deadline, I hope we're OUT...way out. I then follow my sell plan. Which poses another question. What do you want to do with a top 5 pick? My answer, as it has been for a bit now, is to offer it to Calgary or Winnipeg for their 1st and Hamilton or Trouba respectively. So we'd get a legit top 2 defender PLUS a nice mid teens pick where we could possibly snag Foote or Hague for the future. Plus I still have the 1st from the Vanek deal. The other guys I trade, I'd like to stockpile 2018 picks. But if I cannot trade those guys, even if I cannot trade Vanek, I still hope for a top 5 and try my hardest to make deal for Hammy or Trouba.

It's amazing how backed up we are at the D position, and yet don't have a clear cut top 2 player. Perfect scenario before next season starts is Kronwall retires, Ericsson get dealt, claimed or waived or bought out. Smith gets dealt or walks July 1. We acquire a legit top 2 defender. TOP DEFENDER - GREEN DEKEYSER - SPROUL XO - JENSEN MARCHENKO If we have to trade one of the younger D in a deal, then we can re-sign Smith to a sub $1.5M contract to be our #7 relief guy. Not that I don't like him, but I just like our younger guys better. They have a bit more chemistry as well after playing a few years in GR together.
-
Just a general observation, it is painfully obvious Colorado is tanking on purpose, there is no way that in this age of salary cap and parity, there could ever be a team that will finish that low in the standings. Especially them, it wasn't but a couple of season ago they were doing very well with a load of good young players... Maybe they should've drafted Jones when they had the chance! I would venture to say the same about Arizona. All other teams have at least 43 points and you're telling us that those two can't get above 30? Well ARI has 32, but c'mon! They are both tanking for that #1 for sure!

Man, the good old days! I get pretty mad over Ericsson, Helm and Howard (I'm actually getting a little ok with Helm as long he stays in the bottom 6) but those days when I was all over Hudler and Franzen...Good times!
-
For the record, I never bashed on Osgood.
-
I waive Ericsson tonight.

Non call or not, ******* Erection needs to make a play in front of the net. He just stood there and swiped at the puck...I don't know how he's even in the nhl. Sure the play should've never happened, but refs f*** up all the time, this is all Ericsson. We don't need AA in OT, we got Helm back to play with Vanek out there. Helm looked good tonight, but AA and Vanek has the chemistry. But to not have AA out there at all? Unacceptable. -

Nhl reffing...no AA? We got Helm back for ot. Nice D play by E in front there...swipe at the puck, you're ******* 6'5 hit the f*****! -
Ugh, I do like the idea of Re-signing him, but can't we just have a back door agreement to sign with us after the expansion draft? We'd have to protect him otherwise. You better believe AA and Mantha will get a protect, Nielsen must, that leaves 3 up front, now what?
-
Nothing is undeniable. You could be right, we don't know for sure which will be here next year, but Las Vegas odds we keep Mrazek. I'm 99.99999% positive if it comes down to choosing one, Howard is gone.
-
Why does #9 got to bash Mrazek in every flicking thread? Now I know how much I annoyed y'all with Franzen. We get it, you don't like Mrazek. Goodie Goodie gum drops! He won't be traded. Meanwhile, I too would rather have Hammy or Trouba, but do like that we actually got listed on a list of where someone would like to play!
-
Comparing Mrazek to the Holocaust? Nice... Btw, Howard to LTIR.

I should have said, if we cannot trade them. I would absolutely rather trade for a return. I was only referring to if all we could do is send players to GR. I'd much rather waive E or Smith, than the others. But for sure if we could get a return for any of them, I'd much rather do that... I do agree that Marchenko is the weakest link (outside of Ericsson) if we could trade him, I'd be in for that as well! -

all to keep inferior players like Ericsson and Kronwall...I would rather just waive E or Smith, if someone claims them, great, if they clear then we at least get a little cap relief out of it. At this point I think it would be very unwise to risk losing any of Sproul, Jensen or Marchenko.
