I just can't see them risking putting Coreau on waivers. Perfect backup. Why stick with an injury prone goalie who hasn't amounted to anything much and who is now overpaid in his 30's? It is a business afterall. Sure, we'd be on the hook for four years with a buy out, but at a very reduced rate... $1,833,334 $2,583,334 $1,541,667 $1,541,667 I'm very much super ok with that.

Funny thing is, Holland opted to keep the Toronto 3rd and traded ours thinking the Toronto one would be higher...now sjc has a potential late 2nd rounder for all intents and purposes. Oops, that's our genius gm.

I think there is a time limit to him being sent back. If he is here for less than the limit, I think he's safe, if he stays over, he's not...I'm just not sure what the cutoff is.

9, Dude, you're smoking the reefer if you think they'll trade Mrazek. Howard is in his final season with Detroit. He will be either traded, claimed or bought out. Players with NTC get moved all the time and not just because they want to. They get asked to submit a list of teams they will or will not go to. Kesler being one of the more recent players, Marty st. Louis was another. You don't seem to understand how it works..sure they can always NOT waive the clause, that is the control they have. Jimmy may very well not waive it because he doesn't want to leave, but by no means does it make him unmovable. If he wants to play as a #1, he'll waive it. If he wants to not play, then he won't and he'll either watch Mrazek and Coreau next season or get bought out...or maybe be waived. A NTC doesn't prevent that either.

Players with NTC get traded all the time. If Holland has a deal with a better team that would use Jimmy as a starter, Jimmy would probably waive his NTC. NMC are a different story, but they aren't unmovable.

Oh, ok! BTW, just watched the highlights of the game, how the hell was their first goal called on side after the review? Typical nhl.

I've ALWAYS been a huge fan of Jensen. In the past, I ALWAYS added him to my roster. If/when he gets sent back down, he may not clear waivers this time. Which will be a sad day in the organization when we possibly lose him in order to have Ericsson and Kronwall. All 4 of Sproul, XO, Marchenko and Jensen should be playing over those two.

Ya, but if they really want him they would be willing to pay up. I don't understand why folks think when it's us shopping, we have to pay up to outbid people, but when someone actually really wants something we have, we aren't going to get crap for it. This is nothing directed towards anyone, it just seems a general concensus. Look what we had to give up for Legwand, when a team wants a player they offer up to make sure they get the player. If Chicago feels Vanek is their missing piece, a 25-30 1st round pick plus a legit chance at another Cup is not too expensive. Especially to the Bowman's.

Foote or Hague will be there at 15...of course I'd still rather get the #1-#4 and try to trade it for Hamilton or Trouba and their 1st round and get both a top guy and a great prospect.

I seem to remember somebody last season saying the new tandem should be Mrazek and Coreau. If The waiver thing is true about Coreau, then Howard better be placed on LTIR soon...especially if Helm is about ready to play. But it would be just like Holland to think, "Noone will take Coreau off waivers...we can just whip him down without any worry. " IMO, Howard has played his last game as a red wing.

Nah, it means Howard will not make it to October.

Honestly, I believe as long as they are within 10 points of a guaranteed spot (3rd place) Holland will not sell and he may just buy. Again, only 6 points out is not insurmountable. They have to go on a nice streak, like 8-2 or 9-1, and have a couple teams falter a bit, but again, I remind you, 09 pens were out of the playoffs early in Jan that year as well...we don't have a crysby, but Mantha, AA, Vanek and Z seem to be trying to lead this team out of the ashes...

If Vanek loves it here and wants to stay, then I work out a deal with him telling him that we're trading him for a 1st to a contender, then have a lucrative "thank you" deal ready for him July 1st. But then again, we are still only 6 points out of 3rd place. Can we string a nice 10 game streak together and get ourselves even closer, possibly in?
