The difference between Holland and other GM's is when a player continually under performs and costs the team games or playoff rounds, they get rid of them. Holland not only keeps them, he awards them with unjustified raises, contract clauses and playing time. For Pete's sake,look how long it took him to dump Kindl and he wasn't even the worst dman we had at the time. Some Players who should not be on this team, but Holland will never trade: Howard, Nyquist, Ericsson, Helm, Miller, Ott. Those 4 forwards not being here opens up spots for AA, Mantha, Pulkkinen and Jurco.

Looking at the list of prospects at tge tourney, I'm even more convinced we can afford to skip a year without a couple of picks. If a trade presents itself, I think Holland would be stupid to not be willing to move a 1st rounder. Especially if it meant getting a 22 year old right handed dman with a few years nhl experience.

For Vanek to contribute, he needs to be 2nd line or higher. 3rd line won't do anything for him and he'll be scoring 15 goals. He needs to play with Nielsen or Larkin.

I agree, if that would work, that would be great for Trouba, but I believe, once he gets shopped around, that another team will offer something better than Nyquist for Trouba. I'd overpay for both, just to beat out the other teams... Mantha, XO (or Sproul) 1st, 3rd for Trouba is overpayment, but not many other teams would want to match that. It could happen, but I think Winnipeg would jump at that deal. We would miss Mantha, but getting Trouba in return makes up for that because he is near the same age, yet has a lot of NHL experience. Another reason we wouldn't miss XO or Sproul. They need a 3rd pairing guy with a relatively small salary, so XO or Sproul would help them. The 1st and 3rd I don't think we'd miss at all. I fully believe we are again a playoff team (especially if we acquired Trouba, even more so if we also added Fowler) so that 1st, once again, would be around #17-#24 I'm thinking. The 3rd is the 3rd. We wouldn't miss those, I believe, because we have players now that we have no room for, that are ready, and soon we'll have even more ready. I think one year of not having a 1st wouldn't kill this team's reload. Again, I firmly believe with Vanek and Nielsen and Larkin getting more ice time, Z getting less, this team will finish much higher in the standings. Z will last longer with less icetime too. Nyquist, Smith, conditional pick for Fowler. Again, overpayment? Maybe, but we'd have to open up another spot on D for both Trouba and Fowler, plus open up cap space to sign Trouba. Nyquist could be replaced with AA while Pulk and Jurco are out. If I wanted to collect some more later round picks, I could try to shop one of/or both Pulk and Jurco to get a couple more 4th-7th rounders. Holland created this jam up front to shop for a d-man, he knows he'll have to move a few assets sooner or later so he doesn't have to waive anyone. I'm sure he felt that prices weren't going to be so high, but IMO, losing Mantha, Smith, XO (or Sproul,) Nyquist and the picks is not gutting the roster if you are getting back Trouba and Fowler, PLUS opening a spot for AA to be on the team. It would take some doing to work it out under the cap, but it could work and we'd be a better team. I only wish it would happen, because we have no idea what Holland would offer, or what Winnipeg and Anaheim would ask for. I'd balk on trading AA for either of them. Larkin is a no trade, as is Mrazek and DD. ANd with the history of all GM's trying to rape Holland, I am sure one of those 4 names would be asked for from both teams, so we'll probably be out of luck in acquiring either of them... I'd trade anyone from the team, except Larkin, DD, Mrazek and AA. BTW, did y'all know that Sproul has not re-signed yet? He is an RFA and is probably holding out for some similar guarantees that Trouba wants. Like guaranteed to make the club, and get some playing time or sign and trade him to a team that will play him. Did he or the team got file arbitration does anyone know?

You got to pay, and sometimes you have to overpay. Mantha, XO (or Sproul) 1st, 3rd. Trouba is ours. To clear space you may have to throw in a roster player like Smith. But if Holland would get his head out of his ass and offer Nyquist, Smith and a pick for Fowler we'd have some room. Then we'd be set on D for a long time with both Trouba and Fowler. The Winnipeg scenario is well worth the swap, but Holland would never offer it. No way Trouba gets Larkin out of us though. We're talking both young talent with tons of potential, but we're also comparing a player who doesn't want to play where he is and one that does. Trouba would love to play here, especially with the guaranteed top minutes and PP time. He'd go anywhere for that guarantee, but to do it at home? Yes, he would like to play here, he's said it, most local players would like to play for their home team at some point. So if he's (or anyone) has said it, why would they not if the chance came up? He'd be happy here for all the right reasons, home, playing time, money. Holland should be bending over backwards and crookedwards to get these guys home. Trouba and Fowler.

Mantha, XO, 1st, 3rd gets Trouba all day. Very realistic, very doable, both teams win. If Winnipeg doesn't match a $5.5M offer sheet all they get in return in the picks. Trade them those picks and upgrade the package with our top O prospect and one our top D prospects. Winnipeg would be stupid not to snatched that deal up. Problem is, Holland is too stupid to offer that deal.

I'll say it again, if someone tenders Trouba, and winnipeg doesn't match, ALL they get is a 1st and a 3rd in return. (if the salary stays under $6M-ish) Who wouldn't offer a 1st and 3rd for Trouba? Probably only a lottery team that may have a chance at a #1 pick overall...heck even a #5 pick may be too much. But teams in the 10-30 range would most definitely feel that its worth trading for Trouba. That being said, if Holland offered Mantha, XO, 1st and 3rd pick, Winnipeg would be retarted to not take that deal. Holland would be retared to not offer that deal. If some other team wants to give anything more than that, then they are crazy. Not saying there won't be a team out there to offer them more, but I really cannot see a return that can be worth more, unless there's a GM that's just nuts. Problem is, even though Holland knows we need this upgrade on D, he would in no way trade those draft picks, even though we'd be getting a 22 year old, plus have plenty of prospects to where we can skip a draft without having a 1st round pick. It will not hurt the prospects to not have a 1st and 3rd this season. We can get a good enough player in the 2nd to add to the pool we have. Make the trade, with Trouba coming back and most likely signing a 6-8 year deal, and with the likes of AA, Bertuzzi, Svech, Turgeon, we have plenty of kids to develope more even without two new ones, and we really wouldn't miss Mantha too much, especially getting the player we need to fill a huge hole in our D. If Holland had balls, he could offer enough to pull off both Trouba and Fowler. We have the assets, and assets teams would want, despite what some folks think. Nyquist, Smith and a pick would more than get you Fowler, we wouldn't miss (too much) any of those guys. AA has already proven that given the same icetime and responsibilty of Nyquist, he can outscore him. The pick could be a conditional, or low round pick, since its Fowler. Holland just will not part with the players mentioned, even though they are replaceable from within the system, PLUS you're getting Trouba and Fowler for the rest of their career's more than likely! Kronner is pretty much done, Green only has 2 more years on his deal, Howard (if not claimed) can safely be bought out with minimal damage to the cap. We'd have plenty of cap space to have DD, Trouba and Fowler all making between $5M and $7M. DD - $5M Fowler - $6M Trouba - $7M Holland has to make this team better. When Kronwall goes down and is in and out all season long, we will be more screwed than we are now...

Well, if Fowler would cost more than Nyquist or Tatar to start, then forger it. If Trouba starts at Larkin, forget it. IMO, no way Trouba gets you a better prospect in a package than Mantha. No way Fowler would cost a better player than Nyquist to start. Now, that doesn't mean someone won't overpay for either of them, I just hope it's not Holland. Mantha, XO, & a 1st, 3rd gets you Trouba all day long, more than worth it. Nyquist, pick, Smith gets you Fowler. If some Jack wagon wants to over value them and pay more, so be it.

Of course nobody but Trouba himself knows what he'll do, but the fact that he has said he wants a guaranteed larger role on the team is almost more important than how much money, I'm am just saying that given he would be absolutely guaranteed those top minutes and role here, plus being his hometown team, where he would enjoy playing, he may do what he could to help. He is sub $1M right now, if given about $3M for a year to fit under our cap, then reward, or thank him (you know how Holland repays loyalty) for tgat gesture, give him the 8 year $50M+ contract with a NMC. It only be a small contract until cap opens next season.Regarding picks, yes, you're right, but you could offer the 1st (ours) and the 3rd (from TOR) in trade along with Mantha and XO to make it a very lucrative offer over and above what they'd receive if they didn't match an offer. Not unless a lottery team tenders an offer sheet, then the 1st rounder would be super valuable. But would a lottery team give up a possible 1st overall for Trouba? Maybe, but I wouldnt.

Before anyone says Trouba wouldn't do the hometown deal to save cap for a season or two, he most certainly would. Sure he wants to get paid, but it is known that he wants you be a bigger part of a team. Not only would he be playing in his hometown, he would most certainly get top minutes and top PP time he is wanting. Why wouldn't he take a one or two year deal at Smith money then get his 8 year deal? Only fear of injury would deter him, but you cannot be afraid to play.

No matter what, when your D lineup is DD- Trouba Fowler - Green Kronwall -Marchenko (Ericsson while Kronwall is injured) it's a much better lineup than we have now. Stop kicking Kenny, it's time to acquire to players to make your team better. Knock it out of the park. Of course then you protect DD, Trouba and Fowler come expansion.

I'd do the offer sheet, or just offer them a 1st, 3rd and a prospect D in trade. I'd still be ok with sending Mantha if we had to. But unless they are willing to match a 6 year deal with a full NMC, then all they'll get in return is a 1st and 3rd, so you may as well field some offers that may be a bit more lucrative for them. Mantha, XO, 1st, 3rd gets the job done and Winnipeg would be retarded not to take that deal. Sign Trouba to a 1 or2 year hometown deal until cap opens up when Howard is dealt with and then give him the 8 year $6M- $7M deal. Simple. Holland should be looking for the shock and awe walk off home run and trying to land both these guys. He has the extra assets to do it and it's not like those assets aren't something that a team can't use. Nyquist and Smith gets you Fowler all day, every day. If you have your throw a pick in, so be it. With our prospects and acquiring 22 and 24 year old top 4 defensemen, we wouldn't miss a few picks.

Trade for trouba now, sign fowler as a ufa in 2 years when his contract is up.

I simply said I'd I'm trading a top prospect, it'll be Mantha way before AA. I'd rather keep them both, but I am not trading AA unless it involves someone even better than Trouba is projected to be. Mantha I'd trade for Trouba. That's just how I value the two, AA is more valuable to my team than Mantha if I have to use one in a deal.
