Could you imagine 4 scoring lines? Sheesh, no one could match all 4 lines! It would also keep minutes down on older players. Imagine: Zetterberg-Larkin-Abby Tatar-Nielsen-Vanek JURCO-AA-MANTHA Nyquist-Helm-Sheahan No one knows who's #1 or #12.... Miller/Glenny/Ott would get in for injuries or slumping players that need a rest.

I think Nielsen will still officially be a 2nd line guy, but will be out there for a ton of "checking" responsibility. I believe Larkin will be the #1 center by name, but I definitely see Nielsen being a big upgrade to the top 6. Vanek as well.

Nielsen and Vanek are here to play. They are legit top 6 guys who can and will make our team better and harder to beat. Hopefully when Mrazek gets his contract he finds a way to rekindle that vezina couple of months. If Holland manages to upgrade our D, this team will be better than last year. I'd also love to see AA and Mantha play, but they aren't 4th liners and there really isn't any room in the top 9 for them bArring a trade of one or two forwards from the nhl roster...

Helm at $3M, bottom 6, fine. What he got, the way he was attempted to be used last season, waste. Can't do anything about the money now, but if he gets top 6 minutes, I cannot guarantee I won't flip out. But, we'll see what happens. For the better of the team, I hope he has a career year!

I'm just saying as annoying it is to read he sucks, which isn't true, he is in the nhl, it's just as untrue and ridiculous to have to read how great he is, which isn't true. Oh man, if he got $1M less, this wouldn't even be an issue. Now that is true! But don't get me wrong, if he ends up being nowhere near his contract worth and does a "cleary" on us and really actually sucks, I will say it. Besides, I need someone to blame our losses on! This also pretty much guarantees that he is here for life! He'll be what, around 31 after this deal? He may sign another 4-5 years maybe 6 after this one and then call it. I like this deal. I hope he stays healthy and continues to get better, this will be a steal in 3 years.

I apologize for my constant helm hate every chance I get, but as annoying as that can be, it's just as annoying when also 8n every thread we have to read how helm is great for this team and is the best 3rd line center in the world. I'm not mad even if there's a NMC, he is your future leader on D, hometown kid who chose us, plus he'd be protected anyhow. I'd actually welcome a clause with this contract. For a million, would any of you give Wiz a shot for a year? If all trades fizzle or just go with the kids?

Can you imagine what Larkin is going to get in 2 years? DeKeyser and Fowler sounds good to me...as well as trouba, barrie, shattenkirk and just about anyone else not named Ericsson or KFQ.

I don't mind 6 yrs for DD. He will be an eventual A on this team, if he doesn't get it this year (problem Abby) and actually $5M isn't too bad, we all would've liked a bit less but in this case, it may have only been $250K less at most. He may have been awarded upwards of $6M. I hope we can shed some salary and soon.

Tatar - Nielson - Vanek Zetterberg - Larkin - Abdelkader Jurco - AA - Nyquist Helm - Sheahan - Glendening Frk since he has no exemptions & Tangradi maybe I'd much rather have Mantha up and no helm as well. Plus I'm still hoping Nyquist gets dealt in a D trade....but...

We'll Pulkkinen is out, but a 3rd line of JURCO-AA-MANTHA would be nice. I'd of been fine with a Miller-Glenn-Sheahan 4th line. He'll if Helm maybe got 3 yrs at $2.5M he could bump Miller to #13 and play on the 4th. I don't know why Ott was signed, but he was. If we can't trade Nyquist, then sure of course there's not enough room for both AA and Mantha. Tatar - Nielsen - Vanek Zetterberg - Larkin - Abby Nyquist - AA - Jurco Helm - Glendening - Sheahan Miller/Ott (Miller to GR when Pulkkinen comes back.) That's what I would go with but Helms salary is going to command 3rd line, bumping AA to GR and miller or Ott up to 4th line. Or Jurco out of the lineup of Ott plays along with Miller bumping Sheahan up to 3rd.

Glenny should and is 4th line. Z should be 3rd line winger, Miller should be 13th forward. There are other ways to make your team better, don't suppress more deserving kids by signing players that bring less to the table.

I ***** about wasted money....at least I'm consistent and don't flip flop. I also agree Miller could've have been let go, and Ott was pointless. All 3 aren't needed and kids would've filled better. Vanek is going to surprise everyone and be twice as valuable to this team than helm. Unless they cater to useless 4th liners by putting them top 6 and Vanek bottom 6, which may just happen with an inflated salary.

Ok, my point is, Helm was not needed. If he walked we wouldn't have lost anything by inserting Jurco into that spot. Now, because Holland is an idiot, someone we do need gets an offer that is embarrassing to say the least. Holland should be focusing more on the future than signing players like Helm and miller. Both VERY replaceable with kids that are ready. If Mrazek gets jaded by Holland, like most FA's are now, he will not want to be here and as soon as he can leave, he will. Then there goes our future because we're stuck with over inflated contracts. Never! Especially if he leaves UFA when able. But hey, let's waste more money on undeserving players...

But it just goes to show where Holland stands. Instead of putting the value and focus on the future, he puts it in helm. Mrazek will not forget this.

If Helm wasn't paid $4M there would be more money available to offer Mrazek. Period, simple. That signing directly affected this negotiation. But hey, we sure got a fast 4th liner who will get top minutes because he gets top 6 money for 13th forward stats. Screw the future, we have Darren ******* Helm! That's the Juck ******* pott right there! Screw AA, screw Mantha, screw Jurco and Pulkkinen, f*** our future for Helm! Oh and Howard can always be our #1. Darren and Jimmy, plan the parade! Nyquist was a wasted signing and Helm is too! That's $9M and two roster spots that can help our future...but hey, let's settle for bad to mediocre.
